  • Recently, there are two important research trends in the literature the red-time collaborative computing end electronic business process automation. This paper is one of those efforts that would establish an effective business office working and computing environment hough the integration of those two cutting-edge technologies. That is, we try to develop a workflow modeling tool that is semantically based upon the information control net(ICN), which is a typical workflow model for specifying office work procedures(business processes), and that is systemically based upon the real-time collaborative operations by a set of actors, which is called group, We name it "group ICN editor". This paper describes the design and implementation of the group ICN editor that is operable under the real-time collaborative computing environment. We use the Flexible rJAMM toolkit that enables the ICN editor to operate among multiple actors(group) through the event-driven collaboration platform, Consequently, a set of workflow and business processes defined through this editor is not only stored onto database but also transformed into the format of the workflow process definition language(WPDL) that is a standardized workflow description and specification language proposed by the workflow management coalition(WfMC).ion(WfMC).

  • The efficient test tool is indispensable to the test driven development. The test tool is very helpful to get the advantage of the test driven development. Many traditional automation test tool does not support standard script language and are not suitable to unit test. In traditional unit test tool, a code for the test is added at the source code. Such method makes the complexity of a source code and has a problem which must modify many part of the source code when the test case is changed. In this paper, we present a design technique of a flexible unit testing tool which makes a developer can modify easily the test case by using the standard java script in test driven development. We implement the test tool by this design technique to verify the availability of this technique.

  • The advanced semiconductor technology and electronic design automation(EDA) tools make it possible to implement the system on the programmable logic devices. The electronic design method is also changing from schematic capture to hardware description language. In this paper, I present the architecture of multi-dimensional digital filter which can be efficiently implemented on PLDs. This is based on the former research results which are called algorithm decomposition technique. Algorithm decomposition technique is used to obtain the computational primitive from the state space equations of the multi-dimensional digital filtering algorithm. The obtained computational primitive is designed with VHDL. This can be used to implement the filtering system as a component. The designed filtering system is implemented on the PLD. Therefore, the filter can be upgradable on system. It is greatly reduced the time-to-market time of the system that is based on the multi-dimensional filter.

  • This paper presents an adaptive feedback linearization control scheme for induction motors with simultaneous variation of rotor and stator resistances. Two typical modeling techniques, rotor flux model and stator flux model, have been developed and successfully applied to the controller design and adaptive observer design, respectively. By using stator fluxes as states, over-parametrization in adaptive control can be prevented and control strategy can be developed without the need of nonlinear transformation. It also decrease the relative degree for the flux modulus by one, thereby, yielding, a simple control algorithm. However, when this method is used for flux observer, it cannot guarantee the convergence of flux. Similarly, the rotor flux model may be appropriate for observers, but it is not so for adaptive controllers. In addition, if these two existing methods are merged into overall adaptive control system, it brings about structural complexies. In this paper, we did not use these two modeling methods, and opted for the airgap flux model which takes on only the positive aspects of the existing rotor flux model and stator flux model and prevents structural complexity from occuring. Through theoretical analysis by using Lyapunov's direct method, simulations, and actual experiments, it is shown that stator and rotor resistances converge to their actual values, flux is well estimated, and torque and flux are controlled independently with the measurements of rotor speed, stator currents, and stator voltages. These results were achieved under the persistent excitation condition, which is shown to hold in the simulation.

  • This paper described a design and implementation of a single-chip encoder/decoder using the LZSS algorithm and entropy coding in 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology. Dictionary storage for the dictionary search processor(DISP) used a 2K$\times$8bit on-chip memory with 50MHz clock speed. It performs compression on byte-oriented input data at a data rate of one byte per clock cycle except when one out of every 33 cycles is used to update the string window of dictionary. In result, the average compression ratio is 46% by applied entropy coding of the LZSS codeword output. This is to improved on the compression performance of 7% much more then LZSS.

  • Microlens array as basic element of the optical system have been fabricated with various focal length (mainly with long focal length) depending on the purpose of application. In this paper, the microlens arrays were fabricated for observing fluorescent images within sol-gel. Though the fluorescent signal is very low, the microlens array can help obtaining clear images through extracting the fluorescent light from sol-gel. We fabricated microlens arrays with short focal length, which can extract the light using photoresist thermal reflow method. In the experiment, the diameter of microlens decreased after thermal reflow because the solvent within the photoresist was vaporized. Therefore, to compensate the shape error by this reduction, microlens diameter in photomask was altered and spin-coat recipe of photoresist were modified.

  • In this study, the damage to the bridge structure such as the crack and water leakage was assessed due to the increase of the vehicle load and traffic on the roads. In order to make this into the database, as a part of the automation system development for the bridge maintenance, the students themselves designed and developed their own inspection robotic system based on the idea of robots currently being developed overseas. Its field testing was conducted and its applicability assessed. During the design and fabrication, its connection to the details of the unit course taken in the undergraduate level was focused. In terms of new product development, the field application was possible due to the support of the academic-industrial cooperation firms. Furthermore, through the survey of the students, the improvements in the practical skills of the students who participated in this development process was affirmed.

  • Crack sealing is a maintenance technique commonly used to prevent water and debris penetration and reduce future degradation in pavement. In recent years, several systems for automatically routing and sealing pavement cracks have been developed in the highway construction and maintenance area. Automating pavement crack sealing can improve safety, productivity and quality, and reduce road user cost as well. The reduction in crew size and the increase in productivity of the automated sealing process will be translated directly into significant potential cost savings. The main objective of this study is to illustrate conceptual models for the development of the automated pavement crack sealer which meets domestic road condition and regulation, and to discuss its technical feasibilities. Conclusions are made concerning the applicability and the value of cantilever-typed pavement crack which is selected as the most feasible alternative in both economical and technical aspects.

  • In this paper, we introduce a category of Multi-FNN (Fuzzy-Neural Networks) models, analyze the underlying architectures and propose a comprehensive identification framework. The proposed Multi-FNNs dwell on a concept of fuzzy rule-based FNNs based on HCM clustering and evolutionary fuzzy granulation, and exploit linear inference being treated as a generic inference mechanism. By this nature, this FNN model is geared toward capturing relationships between information granules known as fuzzy sets. The form of the information granules themselves (in particular their distribution and a type of membership function) becomes an important design feature of the FNN model contributing to its structural as well as parametric optimization. The identification environment uses clustering techniques (Hard C - Means, HCM) and exploits genetic optimization as a vehicle of global optimization. The global optimization is augmented by more refined gradient-based learning mechanisms such as standard back-propagation. The HCM algorithm, whose role is to carry out preprocessing of the process data for system modeling, is utilized to determine the structure of Multi-FNNs. The detailed parameters of the Multi-FNN (such as apexes of membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients) are adjusted using genetic algorithms. An aggregate performance index with a weighting factor is proposed in order to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization (predictive) abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, two numeric data sets are experimented with. One is the numerical data coming from a description of a certain nonlinear function and the other is NOx emission process data from a gas turbine power plant.

  • A software interface called CGI-K including device driver routines and graphics primitives for the grphic board "K" was designed, implemented in the Design Automation Laboratory of KAIST and installed on IBM PC/AT, using assembly and C language supported by TMS 34010 grphics processor. Several algorithms generating the graphics primitives such as box, circle, pie chord are proposed. The drawing speed of CGI-K on the graphic board K was found out to be three to ten times faster than that of the EGA for several examples. A 2-D graphics editor called GRIM (graphics input and modification) and a 3-dimensional graphics renderer called IPCHE which can draw 3-D objects were developed as two major application programs running on CGI-K. The graphics primitives supported in GRIM include polygon, box, circle, and ace. The IPCHE receives a 3-D objects data file and displays the 3-D object on the screen with hidden surface removal, shading, and perspective scaling.
