  • The concrete structure can be easily damaged due to alkali-aggregate reaction. The alkali-aggregate reaction is a reaction between the alkalies(K or Na) in cement and an unstable mineral of the aggregates. There are several test methods to identify alkali reactivity of aggregates. In general, crushed stones are tested by petrographic examination, chemical method and 모르타르 바 method. This study tested alkali-aggregate reactivity of crushed stones that has different rock types such as granitic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Samples are collected from 12 local aggregate production companies. Alkali-reactivity of various rock types was evaluated by using ASTM C 227 and C 1260, and compared the test results of two test methods.

  • 기존의 흙을 사용하여 건설된 철도 노반은 반복적인 교통하중의 증가, 열차속도의 향상, 노반상으로의 지하수의 유입, 노반의 배수능력 저하 등의 이유로 인해 시간경과에 따라 쉽게 그 기능을 상실할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 실대형시험과 수치해석을 수행함으로씨 철도노반으로서의 쇄석강화노반의 성능을 평가하였다. 쇄석강화노반의 탄$.$소성 연직변위는 모사열차하중의 재하횟수에 관계없이 일반 흙노반에 비해 작은 응답특성을 보였으며, 동일한 노반 부설두께에서는 노반반력계수의 증가에 따라 감소하며, 동일한 강성인 경우 노반 부설두께 증가에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 하지만, 쇄석강화노반의 부설두께에 비해 노반의 강성이 궤도에 발생하는 전체 소성 연직변위에 더욱 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 평가되었다.

  • In many countries the slab track of railroads is mostly applied on the railroad bridges and tunnels, however it hasn't been constructed in the tunnel in Korea. Presently the Korea high speed railway construction authority is planning to construct slab track in the tunnels to minimize the cost of maintenance and repair. In this study, dynamic characteristics of the railroad roadbed which was constructed using crushed stones obtained from tunnel construction was investigated through the field investigation, real scale model test and numerical analysis. As a conclusion, the roadbeds built with the crushed stones produced at the tunneling site satisfy the requirement of roadbed in terms of displacement and earth pressure for the slab track in tile tunnel.

Alkali-Silica Reaction of Crushed Stones

  • This study tested the alkali-silica reactivity of various types of crushed stones, following the specifications of ASTM C 227 and C 1260, and the results obtained from the tests were compared. This study also analyzed the effects of particle size and grading of reactive aggregate based on the expansion of mortar-bar due to an alkali-silica. The effect of mineral admixtures to reduce the detrimental expansion caused by the alkali-silica reaction was investigated based on the method specified by ASTM C 1260. The mineral admixtures used in this study were fly ash, silica fume, metakaolin and ground granulated blast furnace slag. The replacement ratios of 0, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 35% were uniformly applied to all the mineral admixtures, and the replacement ratios of 45 and 55% were additionally applied for the admixtures that could sustain the workability at these ratios. The results indicate that replacement ratios of 25% for fly ash, 10% for silica fume, 25% for metakaolin and 35% for ground granulated blast furnace slag were the most effective in reducing the expansion due to the alkali-silica reaction under the experimental conditions of this study.

쇄석 골재의 알칼리-실리카 반응에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Alkali-Silica Reaction of Crushed Stones)

  • 국내에서는 아직 알칼리-골재 반응으로 인한 피해가 보고되지는 않았지만, 해사와 쇄석의 사용이 증가하고 있어 이에 대한 연구가 시급히 진행되어야 할 것으로 사료되어, 화학법(KS F 2545, ASTMC 289)과 모르터바법(KS F 2546, ASTM C 227)을 중심으로 실험을 행하여 국내산 쇄석1종과 국외산 쇄석 1종이 유해로 판정되었으며, 첨가알칼리성량 및 종류를 달리하여 실시한 모르터바법 시험결과 첨가 알카리로 NaCl사용시 가장 높은 팽창을 하였다. 또한, 모르터바의 표면 및 내부의 반응생성물을 SEM에 의한 관찰과 EDXA에 의한 성분분석을 실시하여 알칼리와 실리카성분으로 이루어진 알칼리 실리케이트 겔임이 판명되어 국내에서 알칼리 반응성을 나타내는 골재의 존재가 처음으로 확인되었다.

쇄석의 진동다짐 특성에 관한 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Vibro-compaction of Crushed Stones)

  • This Study is results of experimental works to investigate the characteristics of vibro-compaction of crushed stones having coarse grain sizes. For testing material, crushed stone, sieved within very narrow ranges of grain size distribution, was used. Cyclic loading apparatus was used to apply cyclic loading to the specimen prepared in the mold. Tests were performed by changing the ratio of the maximum to the minimum stress, frequency and the magnitude of the maximum and the minimum stresses. Settlement of specimen due to cyclic loading was measured to analyze the compaction efficiency and sieve analysis test after cyclic loading test was also carried out to find the crushing rate of the specimen. As results of cyclic loading test, normalized settlement in terms of specimen height tends to be converged around loading cycle number of 1500. The magnitude of normalized settlement is in the range of 3.11 ~ 8.57%. The crushing rate is in the range of 4.46 ~ 8.78%. Normalize settlement and the crushing rate tend to increase with decreasing the ratio of the maximum to the minimum stresses and they tend to increase with increasing the frequency and the magnitude of the maximum and the minimum stresses for the given ratio. In conclusions, compaction rate of crushed stone is controlled by the dynamic stress (difference between the maximum and the minimum stresses) and the crushing rate is dominated by applied energy to the specimen.

암버력-토사 성토의 회복탄성계수 산정방법 (A Methodology to Determine Resilient Modulus for Crushed Rock-Soil Mixture)

  • A method was developed to determine resilient modulus for crushed rock-soil mixtures whose usage has been increased recently without engineering specifications. The method is based on the subtle different modulus called nonlinear dynamic modulus and was lately implemented in residual soils and engineered crushed-stones. Hereby. the same method was expanded to crushed rock-soil mixtures containing as large grain diameter as 300mm. The method utilize field direct-arival tests for the determination of maximum Young's modulus, and a large scale free-free resonant column test, which is recently developed to is capable to test as large grain diameter as 25mm, for modulus reduction curves. The prediction model of resilient modulus was evaluated for crushed rock-soil mixtures of a highway construction site at Gimcheon, Korea.

쇄석 골재의 알칼리-실리카 반응 방지 대책 (Preventive Measures on Alkali-Silica Reaction of Crushed Stones)

  • 최근 양질의 하천골재가 고갈상태에 직면함에 따라 쇄석 골재의 사용이 보편화되고 있지만 쇄석 골재 사용으로 야기될 수 있는 알칼리-실리카 반응에 대한 문제를 검토하지 않은 채 콘크리트 재료로 사용하고 있는 실정이다. 알칼리-실리카 반응은 콘크리트에 유해한 팽창을 일으키는 작용으로서, 반응결과 알칼리-실리카 겔이 형성되고 이러한 겔이 수분을 계속 흡수함으로써 체적 팽창을 일으켜 콘크리트에 균열이 발생된다. 골재의 알칼리-실리카 반응성을 판정하는 방법은 암석학적 판정법, 화학법 및 모르타르 바 법이 일반적으로 사용되지만, 이 중에서 모르타르 바 법이 비교적 신뢰성이 높다. 본 연구에서는 모르타르바 시험방법 중 ASIM C 227과 ASIM C 1260을 선택하여 암석 유형별로 수집한 12종의 골재들을 대상으로 쇄석 골재의 반응성을 비교, 분석하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 반응성 골재의 입자크기 및 입도가 모르타르 바의 알칼리-실리카 반응 팽창에 미치는 영향에 관하여 검토하였다 혼화재의 용도는 상당히 많지만 본 연구에서는 쇄석 골재 사용으로 문제되고 있는 알칼리-실리카 반응에 있어서 플라이애쉬, 고로슬래그미분말, 실리카퓸 및 메타카올린을 혼화재료로 사용할 경우 알칼리-실리카 반응에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 시멘트에 대한 혼화재의 치환율을 달리하여 ASTM C 1260 시험법으로 알칼리-실리카 반응에 대한 팽창 저감효과를 평가하여 보았다. 본 연구에서는 혼화재의 치환율을 0, 5, 10, 15, 25 및 $35\%$로 하였으며, 모르타르 유동성 시험을 병행하여 어느 정도의 유동성을 갖는 혼화재는 45, $55\%$까지 치환율을 증가하여 길이변화 시험을 수행하였다. 시멘트 중량에 대한 혼화재 치환율이 플라이애쉬는 $25\%$, 실리카퓸은 $10\%$, 메타카올린은 $25\%$, 고로슬래그미분말은 $35\%$일 경우 알칼리-실리카 반응에 의한 팽창을 가장 효과적으로 방지할 수 있는 것으로 판단된다.

현장탄성파시험을 이용한 강화노반의 시간적 강성 변화 (Temporal Variations of Reinforced Roadbed Stiffness Using In-situ Seismic Tests)

  • Reinforced roadbeds are valued from the point of view of maintenance as well as enhanced mechanical capacity. They support more train load and less transmit to the sub-layers than general roadbeds. Also, the lateral sloping surface of the reinforced roadbed and its low permeability, achieved by the controlled compaction, increase drainage capability and prevent the softening of sub-layers. In the study, a series of cross-hole tests was performed to observe the temporal changes in the stiffness of reinforced roadbeds, if any, due to the cyclic loading of trains and alternating rainy and frozen seasons at Pyeong-taek experimental site. The three types of reinforced roadbed materials are slag, crushed stones, and soils, and the thickness of all the reinforced roadbeds is 0.8m. The stiffness of the slag and soil reinforced roadbeds was not changed or slightly decreased. The stiffness of the crushed stone was somewhat increased and is inferred to being densified close to surface.
