This study examined the role of interpretation with various practices in art museums to seek a new meaning and a concept of art museum today. The exploration of interpretation would he a starting point to discuss about on art museums with professionals in each art-related field. While museums recognize the concept of interpretation and the scope of the functions in different levels, the study focused on the practices of collecting and exhibiting that will entrust the museum new realms of activities toward the audience. In particular, its emphases are set force on the information on the collections via the museum's web sites, interpretation policies, and theories and methodologies in exhibition development. Art museum websites well reflect how museums utilize the new medium to enhance the understanding of art works by providing in-depth art historical information, comprehensive contexts, and subject/concept based search methods. In recent decades, these have enacted changes to expand dimensions of interpretive functions in most museums, particularly in the United States and others. In an administrative perspective, Tate Gallery Interpretation Policy became an good example how an art museum put its interpretation philosophy as the basis of interpreting collection and public programs. Tate established functions of intrepretation and education not only within a task-based team but also as an intrer-divisional coorperation to provide an interpretation scheme of information provisions such as guide brochure, audio tour, multimedia content, and library. New environment and trends of museum exhibition, and its development processes stem from communication theories, object interpretation philosophy, display strategies, and various evaluation techniques through audiences, with the communication theories of Shannon and Weaver, Berlo's SMCR(Source-Message-Channel-Receiver) models were perceived as to understand the mechanism to communicate museum exhibits to visitors Suzan vogel's insight into object display strategy helped to conceive the mechanism of object recontextualization. She emphasized that the museum's practice to construe opinions and impressions through object display should be discreet and critical, therefore, the professionals to plan the exhibition should reveal the intention and their practices. For a prevailing new methodology from the field, the interpretive exhibition development processes are articulated as the front-end, formative, and summative evaluation, futhermore the team process in industrial product management models was adapted. These have turned out to be more interactive with visitors and effective to communicate the exhibition concepts and messages, hence resulting in enriched museum experiences. Finally the study concluded that understanding the aspects of interpretation should help art museums to set a framework for current practices to expand its public dimension. It can provide curators with a critical view to website planning and its content. And obviously, the interpretive exhibition development methodology will lead museum exhibition developers to be skilled in its current approaches to thematic exhibition concerning diverse subjects and topics.
The sight distance at unsignalized intersections is the one of the fundamental geometric design elements, and can ensure safety and efficient operations. Despite its importance, little research attention has been directed in Korea compared to developed countries such as European countries, the United States, and Japan. AASHTO ISD policies have been applied to the intersection design in Korea without any revise, which can produce unrealistic and unadoptable design values. Those values are emerged from several reasons because the AASHTO ISD has been calibrated based on the local data. Therefore the ISD hardly takes into account the local characteristics of Korea such as driving behavior. vehicular movement and roadway conditions. The objective of this study is to calculate the appropriate ISD values for unsignalized intersections in the urban area in Korea. In this study, we employed the ISD model of AASHTO(2001), which is based on gap acceptance theory and can account for and take the driving and roadway conditions in Korea into consideration. The approach can also consider the complex driving maneuvers at the intersections in a proper and simple manner. The results in this study show that the ISD design criteria currently used in Korea are more conservative(safer) than those of the USA. In other words, the ISD using field data collected in this study has generally smaller values than those in USA.
What is Art on the street? Is it a series of artworks or activities performed on the street? In other words, does "art on the street" refer to "Street Art" such as street performance, happening, graffiti, or wall-painting, or does it refer to "Street Furniture" which is related to "City Design" or "Environmental Design"? In a formal sense, they all belong to Art on the street. However, in this paper, I would like to use Art on the street in an even broader sense. To me, " the street" is a metaphor of "environment." Thus Art on the street is the art related to environment; it is an environment art. Art on the street attests the expansion of the concept of art and shows a new possibility of contemporary art. It is a promising new concept of art, but we cannot ignore the misapplication of the concept that we can find at the crossroad of Art on the street and "city beautification." Of course, Art on the street can and sometimes needs to beautify the city. However we still need to ask how to contribute to the city beautification with Art on the street and how to validate such a practice. City space is, most of all, a space that people live in. It sounds a cliche, but it is worth repeating to better understand Art on the street. When we consider the city space in terms of its system or organization, we often overlook that it is the space in which people live, and which people create. Art on the street concerns not the city itself, but the space in which people live and make relations for each other. Without taking this into account, Art on the street becomes a mere means to' embellish' the city and falls prey to the logic of capital. In this paper, I critically reviewed the problems such as City Development, Spectacularization, City Environmental Design, Public Interest and City Museum. I intended to emphasize that Art on the street is produced in the cultural space of city, but it also tends to break the mold of the cultural space and seeks a new possibility. Some might argue that my claims are unrealistic because Art on the street is not an idea but a practice. While humbly accepting the objection, I hope my critical suggestions guide a more productive direction to continue our discussions of Art on the street.

'Coarse grained material' refers to crushed stones or gravels, and the behaviour of soil containing coarse grained material is not easily defined using the conventional soil mechanics theory due to the influences of large particles, therefore large scale test is essential to investigate their effects. Previous studies have identified the major factors affecting the properties of coarse grained materials by using large scale shear testing apparatus, such as maximum particle size, water content, density and uniformity coefficients. In this paper, the effect of variation of maximum particle size and water content on shear strength was analyzed from the results of large scale shear test. In addition, the fiction coefficient at critical state per vertical load was estimated using the equation proposed by Wood (1998). The sample for the test was obtained from the local quarry sites. Tests results show that the shear strength for 50.8 m maximum particle size is relatively larger than that of 76.3 m and air-dry sample has larger shear strength than saturated sample. In the meantime, the friction coefficient at critical state shows $1.0\sim1.6$ according to the test conditions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the user's perception of security risk and examine its impact on the usage of Knowledge Management Systems(KMS). The findings of this study are three-fold. First, the overall user's perception of security risk is not high. However, there is a considerably big difference in the perception of security risk among users. This finding means that user's perception of a security risk is not based on the actual security effects but one's individual perception. Another finding is that user's perception of a security risk has a negative impact on the usage of KMS through "trust", which is a mediating variable in our study. This finding corresponds with the existing theory that security risk is oneof the critical sources of trust, and trust is a critical factor of user's acceptance of KMS. Finally, the result of this study reveals that activities devoted to security do not decrease the effectiveness and productivity of KMS. Our long-held cognition that security activity hinders the effectiveness and productivity of an information system is not particularly applied to the KMS.

This paper presents exact solutions for the free vibrations and buckling of rectangular plates having two opposite, simply supported edges subjected to linearly varying normal stresses causing pure in-plane moments, the other two edges being free. Assuming displacement functions which are sinusoidal in the direction of loading (x), the simply supported edge conditions are satisfied exactly. With this the differential equation of motion for the plate is reduced to an ordinary one having variable coefficients (in y). This equation is solved exactly by assuming power series in y and obtaining its proper coefficients (the method of Frobenius). Applying the free edge boundary conditions at y=0, b yields a fourth order characteristic determinant for the critical buckling moments and vibration frequencies. Convergence of the series is studied carefully. Numerical results are obtained for the critical buckling moments and some of their associated mode shapes. Comparisons are made with known results from less accurate one-dimensional beam theory. Free vibration frequency and mode shape results are also presented. Because the buckling and frequency parameters depend upon Poisson's ratio ( V ), results are shown for $0{\leq}v{\leq}0.5$, valid for isotropic materials.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Korean science magazine, Science Donga providing scientific facts, phenomenons, and issues with infographic for the readers by time series analysis and to search for the application of infographic on the science education. The criteria for the infographic analysis of Science Donga consisted of three categories such as storytelling type, visual perception, and framework level because infographic presents complex information quickly and clearly by integrating various images, words, and graphics. We found that the articles emphasized by including image about science issue have been published from 1986 to 2014. Particularly, after 2008, the articles including infographic sharply rose. So we set up 2008 as $T_c$(Critical time point). The articles including infographic after 2008 have been more variously distributed and frequently used in storytelling types category such as location, time, number, connection, function, and process based infographic, in visual perception of Gestalt Theory such as proximity, similarity, continuation, and closure than before 2008. Lastly, in framework level category, location, time, number, and process based infographic mainly had total range level but function and connection based infographic changed in the framework level. The three features about storytelling type, visual perception, framework level are important changes to influence $T_c$ in the infographic analysis about Science Donga. Through the results of this study, we analyzed the feature of change on infographic from 1986 to 2014. Thus, we hope that the results suggest a basic criteria for making materials including infographic in science education.
Generally, natural soils are affected by one-dimensional consolidation so that the behavior characteristic could be somewhat different from the isotropic consolidation specimen. But, due to experimental difficulties and the lack of equipment, the isotropic triaxial tests are mainly performed in most lab. tests. So it seems to be very effective if it is possible to predict pore water pressure and undrained shear strength in the $K_o$ state as the results of isotropic triaxial consolidation test. In this study, isotropic triaxial consolidation test and $K_o$ triaxial consolidation test were performed and we obtained parameters related to pore water pressure ratio using the Hyperbolic model. And then we predicted the behavior of pore water pressure that occurred in the $K_o$ state from the results obtained in the isotropic triaxial cosolidation test through the equation suggested by Lo(1969). It is possible to seize the validity of Lo(1969) equation. Also, considering undrained shear strength obtained from consolidation method in relation with water content, we find that consolidation method have an effect on undrained shear strength. Finally, using the Wroth(1984) equation that is based on the theory of critical state, undrained shear strength in the $K_o$ state was predicted from that of the isotropic triaxial consolidation test. The usefulness of the equation was verified by comparing the predicted value with experimental results.

A previous study on the model coatings based on latex-bound plastic pigment coatings (1) has been extended to latex-bound No. 1 clay, ultra-fine ground calcium carbonate (UFGCC), and clay-carbonate pigment mixture coatings, which are being widely used in the paper industry. The latex binder used was a good film-forming, monodisperse S/B latex or 0.15$\mu\textrm{m}$. No. 1 clay was representative of plate-like pigment particles, whereas UFGCC was of somewhat rounded rhombohedral pigment particlel. Both of them had negatively skewed triangular particle size distributions having the mean particle suet of 0.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. Their packing volumes were found to be 62.5% and 657%, respectively. while their critical pigment volume concentrations (CPVC's) were determined to be 52.7% and 50.5% ( average of 45% caused by the incompatibility and 55.9% extrapolated) by coating porosity, respectively. Each pigment/latex coating system has shown its unique relationship between coating properties and pigment concentrations, especially above its CPVC. Notably, the clay/latex coating system hat shown higher coating porosity than the UFGCC/latex system at high pigment concentrations above their respective CPVC's. It was also found that their coating porosity and gloss were inter-related to each other above the CPVC's, as predicted by the theory. More interestingly, the blends of these two pigments have shown unique rheological and coating properties which may explain why such pigment blends are widely used in the industry. These findings have suggested that the unique structure of clay coatings and the unique high-shear rheology of ground calcium carbonate coatings can be judiciously combined to achieve superior coatings. Importantly, the low-shear viscosity of the blends was indicative of their unique packing and coating structure, whereas their high-shear rheology was represented by a common mixing rule, i.e., a viscosity-averaging. Transmission and scanning electron and atomic force microscopes were used to probe the state of pigment / latex dispersions, coating surfaces, freeze fractured coating cross-sections, and coating surface topography. These microscopic studies complemented the above observations. In addition, the ratio, R, of CPVC/(Pigment Packing Volume) has been proposed as a measure of the binder efficiency for a given pigment or pigment mixtures or as a measure of binder-pigment interactions. Also, a mathematical model has been proposed to estimate the packing volumes of clay and ground calcium carbonate pigments with their respective particle size distributions. As well known in the particle packing, the narrower the particle size distributions, the lower the packing volumes and the greater the coating porosity, regardless of particle shapes.
The interactive cinema is based on the interactivity between the cinema and the audience. The discussion of interactive cinema can be divided into two poles. One is to positively look at the possibilities of interactive cinema as a new format and to test with them in various ways. The other is the perspective of a critical warning that the interactivity of interactive cinema risks reinforcing biases while instilling the illusion of freedom and activity in the audience. Considering both of these perspectives, we try to find a way to realize the political and aesthetic possibilities of interactive cinema through characteristic analysis. To this end, we analyzed the interactive film , which has received public and critical attention, based on Brecht's epic theater as a theoretical and practical reference. We analyzed the text/contextual characteristics of this work in three dimensions - an interactive multi-branching structure, a self-reflecting Mise en abyme structure, and an active enjoyment of the audience - and compared them with the epic theater theory. Through this, we examined the conditions and possibilities of interactive cinema as a new epic theater in the new technological/media environment of the 21st century.
