The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of creative science problem solving (CSPS) in elementary school students. To do this, 6 graders (n=9) at a elementary school in Seoul were participated. In this study, fixed eye-tracker with 250 Hz sampling and observation camera were used. The results of this study, the students with higher ability to solve creative science problems had a slower saccade, and had more visual attention on core clues and a greater number of eye changes. Therefore, students with higher ability to solve creative science problems showed more effective eye movement and faster information processing to solve problems. The CSPS types of elementary students were classified as 'declarative knowledge type', 'procedural knowledge type', 'conditional knowledge type', 'knowledge lack type'. Because each type appears to be complementary, CSPS process for elementary students who have integrated the four types was devised. The results of this study can be used as basic data for understanding elementary school students' CSPS and will help to develop and guide creative science teaching and learning programs useful to elementary school students and science gifted students.

This research is a case study of the changes of students's problem solving ability and affective characteristics when we apply to general students MG-CPS model which is creative problem solving model for gifted students. MG-CPS model which was developed by Kim and Lee(2008) is a problem solving model with 7-steps. For this study, we selected 7 first grade students from girl's high school in Seoul. They consisted of three high level students, two middle level students, and two low level students and then we applied MG-CPS model to these 7 students for 5 weeks. From the study results, we found that most students's describing ability in problem understanding and problem solving process were improved. Also we observed that high level students had improvements in overall problem solving ability, middle level students in problem understanding ability and guideline planning ability, and that low level students had improvements in the problem understanding ability. In affective characteristics, there were no significant changes in high and middle level classes but in low level class students showed some progress in all 6 factors of affective characteristics. In particular, we knew that the cause of such positive changes comes from the effects of information collection step and presenting step of MG-CPS model.

In this paper, we propose an a strategy using writing based on STEAM Instruction for information gifted students' creative problem-solving. It is needed a complex and dynamic interaction of variety elements for creative problem solving. And it should be provided experience encompassing various disciplines thorough convergence education for leading to the these interactions and developing the ability to solve complex problems. Writing has already been verified educational effects in a variety subjects. And writing gives a positive impact on creative problem solving by helping awareness of the problem and encouraging critical thinking. In addition, writing can be used as an effective tool for improving problem solving based on similarities between problem-solving process. Learners will find algorithm thorough the process analyzing and writing experience with high-tech products like vending machines, mobile phones and can learn naturally the principles of various disciplines used in real life. Furthermore, learners will experience interaction, convergence of various thinking and cultivate creative problem- solving skills.

The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable assessment tool for measuring scientific creative problem solving ability for middle school students. To achieve this aim, an assessment framework, four assessment items, and detailed rubrics for scientific creative problem solving were developed. The assessment framework had three dimensions (i.e. science contents, inquiry process, and thinking skills) and sub-elements for each dimension. The assessment items were tested with 320 middle school students in order to determine reliability, difficulty, and item discrimination. Science teachers and experts in science education checked the validity of the items and the rubrics. The results proved that the assessment tool was reliable enough to evaluate students' scientific creative problem solving skills.
In this study, a convergence talent education program was developed and applied to elementary school students to investigate its effect on their energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability. Accordingly, a study was conducted on 29 sixth-grade elementary school students. The results of pre- and post-tests on energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability were analyzed. The results revealed that the convergence talent education program on hydraulic energy had a positive effect on the elementary school students' energy literacy as well as their creative problem-solving ability. Furthermore, after completing the hydro-energy convergence talent education program, the students' interest in energy and science increased and they wanted to connect such with their daily life. It appears that meaningful results were obtained through the convergence talent education program, specifically in the process of generating and utilizing hydraulic energy a plan was developed to allow students to solve problems in student-centered classes.
This study was conducted to verify the effect of convergence education applying computing thinking ability of elementary school students on problem solving ability and interest. The subjects of this study were 23 students in 3rd grade elementary school and 15 students in 6th grade, totaling 38 subjects. As a research method, problem-solving ability and interest were measured through questionnaires, and data were analyzed through T-test to see the pre-post differences of the experimental group. As a result of the study, first, it was found that convergence education applying computing thinking ability had a positive effect on problem solving ability. The purpose of this study is to promote the activation of creative problem - solving education in Korea through the case of countries leading education for creative problem solving in order to overcome the limitation of creative problem solving education in Korea. Based on 5 success factors by our cases of United States, Singapore, and Dublin City University in Ireland, we focused on the cases and extracted five key characteristics of creative problem solving education. The university should be able to provide various information gathering and theoretical knowledge for problem definition as well as continuing guidance and mentoring, rather than one-time teaching, in the form of teaching-student cooperative learning paradigm. Second, the class should be a team - based learning team which is a key factor in overseas universities' policy, so as to be able to identify differentiated, new ideas and creative problem solving methods based on knowledge and experience sharing. The creative problem solving method derived from education could be able to collect, organize, and apply to the field continuously and comprehensively about the learning process of the individual. Evaluation of curriculum should be based on characteristics of school and characteristics of students. The results of creative problem-solving education should be evaluated in order to continuously develop and create value in addition to the outcomes of the class. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an evaluation process for each university. The university should try to make creative problem solving education create value through specialization of university. Based on this, we propose a creative problem solving education framework.
