  • The objective of this study was to confirm the validity of classification of dental disability by measuring the dental treatment time required for disabled patients and identify the disability type that requires more of chair time. As a result of measuring a total of 123 patients who were admitted to the Seoul dental hospital for the disabled on Oct. 2014, I was able to make the following conclusions: 1. For dental counseling and check-up, the chair time did not show significant differences between the different types of disability. 2. For periodontal treatment, restorative treatment, root canal treatment, and surgical treatment, the difference of the chair time for dentally disabled patients was significantly longer than that of non-dentally disabled patients. 3. The difference in the total chair time for prosthetic treatment was statistically insignificant. However, each of the prosthetic treatment steps did show statistically significant differences.

A quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was implemented. From December 2019 to May 2020, data from 28 controls and 29 experimental groups who completed pre and post-investigation were analyzed using the SPSS program. As a result of the main study, after the intervention, the knowledge of hypertension, seriousness and sensitivity among the health beliefs, and quality of life EQ-VAS indicated significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. Therefore, efforts to improve self-care behaviors and quality of life by applying various self-care programs to hypertensive patients with the disabled which require long-term health care will be needed continuously.

  • Objective: The disabled are in a blind spot for obtaining information on drugs, and the pharmacies' counseling on drug use is centered on non-disabled people. Few studies have investigated the current statuses of drug use by type of disability. The purpose of this study is to understand the drug use by type of disability and by life cycle of visually impaired and hearing impaired in Korea. Methods: The study participants consisted of 16 people with visually impairments, 12 people with hearing impairments. One in-depth interview was conducted per participant, and each interview was recorded and documented. Results: Common barriers against safe medication and medical service uses across disability types are 'lack of consideration and service for the disabled, limited access to medical facilities due to disability, limited access to information regarding medication use, psychological anxiety about drug use and side effects, and inconvenience regarding COVID-19 epidemic. The specific factors were 'difficulties in identifying proper medicines and following prescribed dosages' in the case of visually impaired, and 'problems with sign language interpretation system' for the hearing impaired. Conclusion: Disabled people are hindered from using medicines properly due to various factors. Based on the content derived from this study, it is necessary to eliminate the inhibition factors and devise specific measures for the safety of each type of disorder such as developing a method for medication counseling considering disabilities and establishing communication support systems.

  • According to the 2017 national survey of the disabled persons conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, rehabilitation centers for the disabled appeared to be the service agency that disabled women use the most. This means that rehabilitation centers for the disabled hold an important role in securing the maternity rights of disabled women. However, in the practice of welfare for the disabled, programs for securing maternity rights are inadequate, and the actual condition is not being surveyed. As a result, programs related to maternity rights based on the legal basis exist, but actual support services for resolving the difficulties related to maternity rights that disabled women experience are inadequate. Thus, the study suggests that rehabilitation centers for the disabled should pay a central role in establishing the maternity rights of disabled women and provide support services such as developing a manual on basic information about pregnancy, childbirth, and child rearing, offering childbirth-related counseling, activating a self-help group, providing an individualized program for families, connecting with medical institutions, and supporting case management.

In the question about the awareness of smartphone addiction they answered the smartphone addiction is severe in the society, and they are aware of smartphone addiction counseling center. But they will not get a service form the centers. That suggests, that the government should promote the policy of smartphone addiction for the disabled. It should provide institutional strategy and structural change for prevention of smartphone addiction for the disabled.
