  • Feller introduced an unfair-fair-game in his famous book [3]. In this game, at each trial, player will win 2k yuan with probability pk = 1/2kk(k + 1), k ∈ ℕ, and zero yuan with probability p0 = 1 - Σk=1 pk. Because the expected gain is 1, player must pay one yuan as the entrance fee for each trial. Although this game seemed "fair", Feller [2] proved that when the total trial number n is large enough, player will loss n yuan with its probability approximate 1. So it's an "unfair" game. In this paper, we study in depth its convergence in probability, almost sure convergence and convergence in distribution. Furthermore, we try to take 2k = m to reduce the values of random variables and their corresponding probabilities at the same time, thus a new probability model is introduced, which is called as the related model of Feller's unfair-fair-game. We find out that this new model follows a long-tailed distribution. We obtain its weak law of large numbers, strong law of large numbers and central limit theorem. These results show that their probability limit behaviours of these two models are quite different.

  • Some strong convergence theorems of explicit iteration scheme for asymptotically nonexpansive semi-groups in Banach spaces are established. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some recent results in [T. Suzuki. On strong convergence to common fixed points of nonexpansive semigroups in Hilbert spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. • In this study we are concerned with the problem of ap-proximating a locally unique solution of an equation on a Banach space. A semilocal convergence theorem is given for the Super-Halley method in Banach spaces. Earlier results have shown that the order of convergence is four for a certain class of operators [4] [5] [8] These results were not given in affine invariant form and made use of a real quadratic majorizing polynomial. Here we provide our re-sults in affine invariant form showing that the order of convergence is at least four. In cases that it is exactly four the rate of convergence is improved. We achieve these results by using a cubic majorizing polynomial. Some numerical examples are given to show that our error bounds are better than earlier ones.

  • This study concerns with partial sum of Fourier series, Fourier coefficients and the $L^1$-convergence of Fourier series. First, we introduce the $L^1$-convergence results. We consider equivalence relations of the partial sum of Fourier series from the early 20th century until the middle of. Second, we investigate the minor lineage of $L^1$-convergence theorem from W. H. Young to G. A. Fomin. Finally, we compare and reinterpret the $L^1$-convergence theorems.

  • In this paper, we generalize the concept of deferred density to that of deferred f-density, where f is an unbounded modulus and introduce a new non-matrix convergence method, namely deferred f-statistical convergence or $S^f_{p,q}$-convergence. Apart from studying the $K{\ddot{o}}the$-Toeplitz duals of $S^f_{p,q}$, the space of deferred f-statistically convergent sequences, a decomposition theorem is also established. We also introduce a notion of strongly deferred $Ces{\grave{a}}ro$ summable sequences defined by modulus f and investigate the relationship between deferred f-statistical convergence and strongly deferred $Ces{\grave{a}}ro$ summable sequences defined by f.

  • The famous Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis has been used for a long time as a sufficient condition for the convergence of Newton method to a solution of an equation in connection with the Lipschitz continuity of the Frechet-derivative of the operator involved. Using Lipschitz and center-Lipschitz conditions we show that the Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis is weakened. The error bounds obtained under our semilocal convergence result are finer and the information on the location of the solution more precise than the corresponding ones given by the dominating Newton-Kantorovich theorem, and under the same hypotheses/computational cost, since the evaluation of the Lipschitz also requires the evaluation of the center-Lipschitz constant. In the case of local convergence we obtain a larger convergence radius than before. This observation is important in computational mathematics and can be used in connection to projection methods and in the construction of optimum mesh independence refinement strategies.

  • The aim of this paper is to prove strong convergence theorem by a modified three step iterative process with errors for three nonexpansive mappings in the frame work of uniformly smooth Banach spaces. The main feature of this scheme is that its special cases can handle both strong convergence like Halpern type and weak convergence like Ishikawa type iteration schemes. Our result extend and generalize the result of S. H. Khan, Kim and Xu and many other authors.

  • By using the multidimensional normal approximation of functionals of Gaussian fields, we prove that functionals of Gaussian fields, as functions of t, converge weakly to a standard Brownian motion. As an application, we consider the convergence of the Stratonovich-type Riemann sums, as a function of t, of fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H = 1/4.

  • In this paper, we introduce an iteration generated by countable nonexpansive mappings and prove a weak convergence theorem which is connected with the feasibility problem. This result is used to solve the problem of finding a solution of the countable convex inequality system and the problem of finding a common fixed point for a commuting countable family of nonexpansive mappings.

  • A demi-closed theorem and some new weak convergence theorems of iterative sequences for asymptotically nonexpansive and nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces are obtained. The results presented in this paper improve and extend the corresponding results of [1],[8]-[10],[12],[13],[15],[16], and [18].
