  • The Ministry of Education (2015) announced the "2015 Revised Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Schools" and announced that SW (Software) training for elementary and junior high school students to develop Computational Thinking will be gradually introduced from 2018. In addition, 'problem solving' and 'programming' have become important areas. Furthermore, the ability to analyze and utilize big data is becoming more emphasized. We developed and applied the statistical - Python programming convergence curriculum based on the idea that convergence education combining information and mathematics, programming and statistical literacy is needed according to current trends. Before and after the experiment, problem solving ability test and programming / mathematical interest test were conducted and compared with the corresponding sample t-test. According to the analysis results, there were significant differences in the pre- and post-test on problem solving ability, programming interest and mathematical interest at the significance level of 0.05.

  • As the Ministry of Education has introduced AI education in earnest in the 2022 revised curriculum, there is growing sympathy for the need for data-related education along with AI education. In order to develop the competence to understand and utilize artificial intelligence properly, the understanding and utilization competence of data must be based on it. In this study, a data-driven problem solving SW education program using microbit was developed by synthesizing the results of demand analysis and previous research analysis. The data-driven problem solving education program was developed with educational elements that can be applied to elementary school students among the contents of data science. Through the program developed in this study, education that combines various topics and subjects can be linked based on real-life data. Furthermore, based on an understanding of data, it will lay the foundation for a more substantial AI education program.

  • In this paper, the degree of reflection of SW·AI elements and CT elements was investigated and analyzed for a total of 44 textbooks of Korean, social, moral, mathematics and science textbooks based on the 2015 revised curriculum. As a result of the analysis, most of the activities of data collection, data analysis, and data presentation, which are ICT elements, were not reflected, and algorithm and programming elements were not reflected among SW·AI content elements, and there were no abstraction, automation, and generalization elements among CT elements. Therefore, in order to effectively implement SW·AI convergence education in elementary school subjects, we will expand ICT utilization activities to SW·AI utilization activities. Training on the understanding of SW·AI convergence education and improvement of teaching and learning methods using SW·AI is needed for teachers. In addition, it is necessary to establish an information curriculum and secure separate class hours for substantial SW·AI education.

  • Scratch is Educational Programming Language, and it has been widely used in Elementary school SW Education. Many studies show that Scratch education is helpful for students' computational thinking and problem solving. However, the lower grade students use scratch less than the higher grade students, and the higher grade students have difficulty in understanding basic programming principles such as sequence, repetition, and condition. Therefore, in this study, we developed Scratch electronic blocks and programming education curriculum. We had classes for 2nd grade and 6th grade students, and it was confirmed that the score of 2nd grade students' interest about programming increased from 3.28 to 3.58 and 6th grade students' interest increased from 3.41 to 4.09. As a result of the programming basic principles understanding assessment, 84% of the 2nd grade students solved more than 7 of the 9 questions and 62% of the 6th grade students solved more than 7 of the 9 questions.

  • In elementary school software education, a programming process is experienced through a simple problem solving process. And even this experience emphasizes that the problem-solving process is a CS Unplugged activity. However, CS Unplugged has a disadvantage in that it only learns the principles of computing, and the learner cannot experience real problem solving. In this study, a learning program using artificial intelligence robots was developed with the goal of cultivating the ability to solve problems encountered in the real life of elementary school students. Students could solve complex problems in real life from the point of view of artificial intelligence through the developed program, and increase their interest and understanding of artificial intelligence education through robot control.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Goldberg device-based software(SW) convergence Education tool. The 2015 revised curriculum emphasizes convergence with various subjects for effective SW education. In particular, physics is often used as a material for SW convergence education because it is closely related to computational thinking such as sequential movement, quantification of energy and simulation. In this study, we developed an educational program based on the Goldberg device that utilizes physical knowledge, concepts and manipulation. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, the survey questions were developed through Delphi verification and a basic satisfaction survey was conducted based on this. As a result, the developed program can be effectively used as a program for SW convergence education.

  • Under the influence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is a emphasis on capacity building based on computational thinking to foster talent for future. In Korea, SW education has been mandatory since 2018. Since 2017, research has been conducted on the definition of SW education capability and the development of diagnostic tools. At this time, the diagnostic tool for middle school has been revised and supplemented once in 2018 and is used so far. In response to the request from the field to expand the information diagnostic test for middle school to elementary school and high school, it began as one of the 2019 study on the effectiveness of SW leading schools. In this study, we develop a diagnostic tool for elementary and high school based on the diagnostic tool for middle school. Expert validity verification and preliminary inspections are carried out. Preliminary examinations will analyze the reliability, discrimination, and difficulty of the questions, and look forward to seeing the potential as a testing tool in the future.

  • The ability to use software is an essential competency in modern society. As a result, programming education is conducted from elementary school to university. In case of programming education for non-majors conducted in the liberal arts at universities, if it is conducted online using high-quality contents, problems such as the shortage of professional professor and the limitation of practice time can be solved. Also, it has the advantage of providing students with enough time to think and solve problems. In this paper, the possibility of online lectures was investigated through a survey before and after lectures in software liberal arts courses conducted online. From the results of the survey, it is judged that the goal of software education can be achieved even if software lectures are conducted online, which is to improve computational thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • The purpose of this study is to statistically analyze the correlation between block-coding software education and the resilience of elementary school students in order to research the significance of software education. In this study, 61 fourth grade students at an elementary school in Incheon were pre-tested for resilience. A block-coding education program from a nonprofit organization called code.org was used at the learner's level. 15 periods of classes and post-test were conducted to analyze the improvement of resilience. This study finds that control and positivity out of the three parts of resilience(control, positivity, sociality) of the students who took the block-coding classes improved statistically significantly as well as the overall score did too. This suggests that software education can foster not only students' computational thinking skills, but also their resilience, the power to live their lives positively and flexibly.

  • This paper studies VPBL(Various PBL) models, applies them to classes, and analyzes results so that students of various majors can design and implement problems according to the characteristics of their majors in order to improve problem solving in education. VPBL performs the process of designing and implementing problems that reflect the characteristics of the major by applying constraints to the professor's programming language. The professor performs mini_class in the process of solving the designed problem and then shares it throughout. VPBL model apply results, The traditional teaching method was 3.51 points and the application of the VPBL model was 4.52 points, and "interaction, understanding of learning contents, and acquiring knowledge related to curriculum" were improved. In addition, VPBL has the advantage of expanding the learning range in the solving process as it is based on various problem solving, which has the effect of expanding the learning range compared to existing class models. Research on the expanded application of various SW liberal education in the future is required.
