A Study on the Relationship between Self-efficacy, Collective-efficacy and Job Stress in the Nursing Staff (일반간호사의 자기효능감, 집단효능감과 직무스트레스에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of self-efficacy and collective-efficacy on job stress in the nursing staff. Method: This study surveyed 160 nurses in three general hospitals in the Seoul and Gyung-gi province for two months starting in September 2004. The questionnaire consisted of 54 questions about job stress, 10 questions about self-efficacy, and 7 questions about collective-efficacy. The answers were on a scale rating of 5. The answer sheets were analyzed with descriptive statistics, the t-test, ANOVA, the tukey test, the Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression using SAS version 8.2. Result: The average job stress rating of the nurses was 3.11. The average self-efficacy and the average collective-efficacy were 3.41 and 3.39, respectively. The age, working department, income level, shift-work and hospital have influence on job stress. Efficacies such that self-efficacy and collective-efficacy have influence on job stress. The much efficacy makes the less job stress. The stepwise multiple regression revealed that the significant predictor of job stress was working department and hospital. Conclusion: This study showed that collective-efficacy as well as self-efficacy reduces job stress, so nursing intervention methods should promote collective-efficacy. The collective-efficacy improvement program should be developed to improve job performance, to improve cohesion of nursing units, and to improve satisfaction on the job. The next research could be to develop collective-efficacy improvement programs for nursing units.

The Effects of Self-efficacy and Collective Efficacy on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment of Nurses (간호사의 자기효능감과 집단효능감이 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among self-efficacy, collective efficacy, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of nurses working in general hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from 239 nurses working in five general hospitals of a local area by self-reported questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchial multiple regression. Results: Self-efficacy, collective efficacy, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment showed significantly positive correlations. Hierarchial multiple regression analysis showed that self-efficacy was the main factor of affecting job satisfaction, which explained 14.3% of the variance for the nurses' job satisfaction together with collective efficacy and weekly working time. In addition, the primary factor of affecting organization commitment was self-efficacy, which accounted for 17.2% of the variance for the nurses' organizational commitment together with hospital size and shift work. Conclusion: Self-efficacy and nursing working condition such as working time or hospital size contributed to the job satisfaction and organizational commitment and collective efficacy contributed to the job satisfaction. Therefore, the strategies for improving self and collective efficacy should be considered. Further study is also needed to investigate the concept of collective efficacy and its' measurement, and the relationship between collective efficacy and organizational commitment.

Effect of Collective Efficacy on Self-Disclosure in Social Network Services (소셜네트워크서비스에서 집합적 효능감이 이용자들의 자기노출에 미치는 영향)

  • With the development of information technology, social network services (SNS) such as Facebook and Twitter became popular and many users disclose their personal and sensitive information like private story, photographs and location information through posting and sharing. Despite the privacy concerns in SNSs, individuals continue to disclose their identity online. This phenomenon is called 'privacy paradox'. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of collective efficacy on self-disclosure in SNS context and to explain privacy paradox phenomenon. Drawing upon the communication privacy management theory, research model was developed and empirically tested with cross-sectional data from 306 individuals. Results revealed that collective efficacy has a direct positive effect on self-disclosure while privacy risk is negatively related to self-disclosure. However, privacy concern is not directly related to self-disclosure. The relationship between privacy concern and self-disclosure was moderated by collective efficacy.

Influence of Efficacy, Job Satisfaction, and Job Performance by Peer Pressure among Hotel Chefs (호텔조리사 간의 동료압력에 의한 효능감, 직무만족, 직무성과의 영향관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect and difference of hotel chef's peer pressure on self-efficacy and collective efficacy, and to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. For the study, questionnaires were distributed to 6 hotels in Seoul and Busan, and 285 valid copies were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0. In the relationship between variables, collective efficacy was found to have a greater effect on peer pressure among collective efficacy and self-efficacy. And it was found that among self-efficacy, self-efficacy had a greater effect on job satisfaction, and this was collective efficacy due to peer pressure. It is judged that this is due to the professional characteristics and characteristics of the chef, where individual work and skills are important. Also, job satisfaction was found to have a positive effect on job performance. In conclusion, we suggested that these two dimensions of efficacy should be studied together and used in human care programs.

Identification of Factors related to Hospital Nurses' Organizational Citizenship Behavior using a Multilevel Analysis (다수준 분석을 이용한 임상간호사의 조직시민행동과 관련된 요인탐색)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors related to nurses' organizational citizenship behavior using multilevel analysis which included both nurse characteristics at individual levels and nursing unit characteristics at group levels. Methods: The sample was composed of 1,996 nurses who were selected from 182 nursing units in 28 hospitals in six metropolitan cities and seven provinces using cluster sampling. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires from February to March 2006. Results: The results of the study indicated that individual level variables related to organizational citizenship behavior were religion, job position, clinical career, self efficacy, positive affectivity, and supervisor support. The group level variables related to organizational citizenship behavior were collective efficacy, number of nurses in a nursing unit, and the average salary level of a nursing unit. 30.9% of individual level variances of organizational citizenship behavior were explained by the nurses' individual level variables. The explanatory power of group level variables, which is related to group level variances of organizational citizenship behavior, was 75.5%. Conclusion: This research showed that it was necessary to develop appropriate strategies related to not only individual factors, but also higher-level organizational factors such as collective efficacy, to improve individual performances in the hospital.

  • The purpose of this study was to recognize the self - efficacy and organizational citizenship behavior. For the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, exploratory factor analysis was performed and the Cronbach's s value was calculated to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire. The effect of organizational culture of self - efficacy on organizational citizenship behavior was as follows. First, it was analyzed that individual culture, collective culture, hierarchical culture, and rational culture had a significant effect on self - efficacy. Second, self-efficacy had an important effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Third, individual culture and rational culture had a significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior. However, the collective culture and hierarchical culture, which put emphasis on family relations and teamwork, had no significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior respectively. Therefore, it is found that the group culture which valuesfamily-friendly and feamwork of its members,or the hierarchical citure for adapting to the external environment has no effect on organizational citizenship behavior family-friendly and lay emphasis on the teamwork of the organization members, and it does not have an effect on the organizational citizenship behavior.

Influence of Shared Leadership Perceived by Cooks on Self-efficacy, Collective Efficacy, and Job Performance: Focusing on Hotel Culinary Department (공유 리더십에 대한 조리사 인식이 자기효능감, 집단효능감과 직무성과에 미치는 영향 : 호텔조리부서 대상)

  • This study assumed that chef's shared leadership perceived by chefs in hotel culinary department affects self-efficacy, group efficacy, and job performance. Based on this, the causal relationship between each variable was analyzed through leadership sharing. And based on the results, we tried to suggest a manpower management plan suitable for the hotel culinary department and provide basic data. The subjects of this study were chefs working in 8 luxury hotels in Seoul and Busan. A total of 302 questionnaires were analyzed. For analysis, SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical packages were used. As a result of empirical analysis, it was found that it had a positive effect on self-efficacy and job performance improvement of hotel cooks. On the other hand, it was found that the chef's shared leadership did not affect job performance through collective efficacy and collective efficacy. In conclusion, it was suggested that a differentiated and efficient manpower management plan is needed to enhance job performance by enhancing shared leadership and self-efficacy for cooks, where collaboration and division of labor are important, and individual ability is important due to the nature of their work.

Effects of Collective Leadership on Follower's Work Engagement: Examining the role of Psychological Empowerment and Self-efficacy (집합적 리더십이 구성원의 직무열의에 미치는 영향 : 심리적 임파워먼트의 매개효과와 자기효능감의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between collective leadership and employee's work engagement and psychological empowerment. This study tested the impact of collective leadership on employee's work engagement and the mediating role of psychological empowerment between the two variables. And also, this study tested moderating role of self-efficacy between psychological empowerment and work engagement. A total of 237 employees in 7 companies in South Korea participated in this study. The SPSS 21.0 and M-Plus6 statistical programs were used in this study to analyze and statistically process the collected survey data. The result showed that collective leadership positively influence employee's work engagement and psychological empowerment works as mediator in the relationship between collective leadership and employee's work engagement. This results means that collective leadership is a crucial factor to facilitate employee's psychological empowerment toward employee's work engagement. Self-efficacy had moderating effect between psychological empowerment and work engagement. Finally, theoretical and practical implications of the study results have been discussed along with limitations and future direction of the study.

Impacts of Sociability on Perceived Information Quality of Customer Reviews for Online Shopping Sites

  • Although there have been studies regarding the influence of customer reviews on consumer decision making at online shopping sites, research on factors affecting the perceived customer review quality for online shopping sites is limited. This study posits that sociability, which is one of the environmental factors of an online shopping site, can affect the quality of customer reviews. Sociability is a key factor in building a collaborative environment online, but studies have been limited to applying sociability to customer reviews that are the result of a collaborative environment. This study expects that sociability affects the performance of online shopping sites through the perceived information quality of customer reviews, and customers' efficacy. More specifically this study investigates the structural relationship between sociability, self-efficacy, collective efficacy, and the perceived information quality of the reviews in an online shopping context, regarding the patronage intention of customers. This study was conducted using a survey of 361 college students. The structural equation model results indicate that user perception of sociability increases self-efficacy and collective efficacy. The improved efficacy enhances the perceived information quality of reviews for online shopping sites, which increases patronage intention of customers. This study found that online shopping sites require a platform for customers to engage in social interaction to enhance their customers' loyalty and lifetime value.

The Effect of Computational Thinking Course on Learning Flow and Collective Self-Efficacy (컴퓨팅 사고력 수업이 학습몰입과 협력적 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of computational thinking course on learning flow and collaborative self-efficacy of university students and to explore the effectiveness of computational thinking course as liberal arts education. For this study, 177 freshmen at a university in Chungnam Province were surveyed learning flow and collaborative self-efficiency. The collected data were analyzed with Stata IC 14 for ��2 test and t-test. The results of this study are as follows. First, the learning flow of students who took computational thinking course were significantly higher(t=3.837 p<.001) compared to those who did not. Second, the collective self-efficiency of students who took computational thinking course were significantly higher(t=2.277 p<.01) compared to those who did not. Therefore the results show that computational course has positive effects on learning flow and collaborative self-efficiency of university students. Based on these findings, discussions and implications were presented on the importance and effectiveness of computational thinking course.
