  • This paper presents a robust controller design approach for improving vehicle dynamic roll motion performance and guaranteeing the closed-loop system stability in spite of vehicle parameter variations resulting from aging elements, loading patterns, and driving conditions, etc. The designed controller is linear parameter-varying (LPV) in terms of the time-varying parameters; its control objective is to minimise the $H_{\infty}$ performance from the steering input to the roll angle while satisfying the closed-loop pole placement constraint such that the optimal dynamic roll motion performance is achieved and robust stability is guaranteed. The sufficient conditions for designing such a controller are given as a finite number of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Numerical simulation using the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) yaw-roll vehicle model is presented. It shows that the designed controller can effectively improve the vehicle dynamic roll angle response during J-turn or fishhook maneuver when the vehicle's forward velocity and the roll stiffness are varied significantly.

  • In this paper, we consider the mixed $L_1/H_{\infty}$ problems of finding internally stabilizing controllers which minimize the peak-to-peak gain of a certain closed loop transfer function with $H_{\infty}$-norm constraint on other closed loop transfer function(or vise versa). This problem is a useful framework for designing a controller with the norm constraints upon time and frequency domain. We formulate the mixed $L_1/H_{\infty}$ problem as LMI problems by using the reachable set. This paper offers the sufficient condition for the existence of suboptimal state feedback controller, and shows that suboptimal solution can be obtained by solving a finite-dimensional convex optimization and a line search.

  • This paper considers a state set estimation (SSE) based model predictive control (MPC) for linear parameter- varying (LPV) systems with input constraint. We estimate, at each time instant, a feasible set of all states which are consistent with system model, measurements and a priori information, rather than the state itself. By combining a state-feedback MPC and an SSE, we design an SSE-based MPC algorithm that stabilizes the closed-loop system. The proposed algorithm is solved by semi-denite program involving linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is included to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • This research develops dispatching rule for a wafer FABs with dedication constraints. Dedication, mostly considered in a photolithography step, is a feature in a modern FABs in order to increase the yield of machines and achieve the advance of manufacturing technology. However, the dedication has the critical problem because it causes dedication load of machines to unbalance. In this paper, we proposes the dedication load based dispatching rule for load balancing in order to resolve the problem. The objective of this paper is to balance dedication load of photo machines in wafer FABs with dedication constraint. Simulation experiments show that the proposed rule improves the performance of wafer FABs as well as load balance for dedication machines compared to open-loop control based conventional dispatching rule.

  • This paper presents a systematic method for the dynamic analysis of flexible mechanical systems containing closed kinematic loops. Kinematics between pairs of contiguous flexible bodies is described with the joint coordinates and the deformation modal coordinates. The cut-joint constraint equations associated with the closed kinematic loops are derived, simply using the geometric conditions. The equations of motions are initially written in terms of the joint and modal coordinates using the velocity transformation technique. Lagrange multipliers associated with the cut-joint constraints for closed-loop systems are then eliminated systematically using the generalized coordinate partitioning method, resulting to a minimal set of equations of motion.

  • In this paper, we propose a less conservative a linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition for the constrained robust model predictive control of systems with input constraints and polytopic uncertainty. Systems with input constraints are represented as perturbed systems with sector bounded conditions. For the infinite horizon control, closed-loop stability conditions are obtained by using a parameter dependent Lyapunov function. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by an example.

  • Though several previous anti-windup techniques have been proposed, they are limited to linear systems or friction is not considered. Thus this paper proposes a compensation scheme for input-constrained robot systems with friction to cope with the windup phenomenon and shows its effectiveness by simulations. Given a feedback linearizing controller for a robot system designed without considering its input constraint, an additional dynamic compensator is proposed to account for the constraint. The dynamic anti-windup is based on the minimization of a reasonable performance index, and properties of the resulting closed-loop are presented.

  • Many literatures, so far, have concentrated on approaches employing dependent coordinates set resulting in computational burden of constraint forces, which is needless in many cases. Some researchers developed methods to remove or calculate it efficiently. But systematic generation of the motion equation using independent coordinates set by Kane's equation is possible for any closed loop system. Independent velocity transformation method builds the smallest size of motion equation, but needs practically more complicated code implementation. In this study, dependent velocity matrix is systematically transformed into independent one using dependent-independent transformation matrix of each body group, and then motion equation free of constraint force is constructed. This method is compared with the other approach by counting the number of multiplications for car model with 15 d.o.f..

  • Currently the problem of air pollution caused by the motor vehicle emission is of the most serious problems to be solved. Life Cycle Assessment is a process to evaluate the environmental burdens associated with a product or process by identifying and quantifying energy and materials used and wasters to the environment. This paper establishes a Life Cycle Assessment Systems which satisfies the criteria motor vehicle emission for the automobile producers who are currently producing the automobiles with catalytic convert. This plan also considered the constraint of the effective motor vehicle emission by way of the exhaust gas recirculation, electronic fuel injection, closed loop carburetor. In order to develope the performance of the LCA systems, the recent emissions test data have also been applied. The result of the development LCA systems has proved that the LCA plans presented in this paper satisfies the criteria motor vehicle emission and will be contributed to constrain the motor vehicle emission most effectively.
