  • The purpose of the study was to review the evidence of effects of SBAR for communication in domestic nursing students. Four databases were searched for articles publised until June 2023 that databases include RISS, KISS, DBpia & KCI. Key word used for search include 'nursing students,' 'nursing,' 'SBAR,' 'communication.' Of 57 papers searched, seventeen studies were selected for data analysis. Studies evaluated outcomes including communication clarity, communication competence, communication confidence, critical thinking ability, self-efficacy, reporting confidence, clinical judgment, and communication satisfaction that most studies reported positive effects while some figures were not statistically significant. Accordingly, we intend to analyze the characteristics and contents of communication interventions using SBAR, evaluate their effectiveness, and use them as evidence for future follow-up research on communication interventions using SBAR.

  • Due to increasing competition of globalization and fast technological improvements the appropriate method for evaluating and selecting IS-personnel is one of the key factors for an organization's success. Personnel selection is a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem which consists of both qualitative and quantitative metrics. Although many articles have discussed various knowledge and skills IS personnel should possess, no specific model for IS personnel selection and evaluation, to our knowledge, has been published up to now. After reviewing the IS personnel's important characteristics, we propose an approach for categorizing the IS personnel based on their skills, ability, and knowledge during evaluation and selection process. Our proposed approach is derived from a model of neural network algorithm. We have adapted and implemented the fuzzy ART algorithm with Jaccard choice function. The result of an illustrative numerical example is proposed to demonstrate the easiness and effectiveness of our approach.

  • This study examines the fact-check coverage provided by the SNU fact-check center site(factcheck.snu.ac.kr). A total of 50 articles that were cross-checked by multiple news media organizations were analyzed. The study's variables were topics, types, characteristics, consistency of the news media organizations' judgement, and fact-check sources. This study found that fact-checking coverage was generally focused on presidential or general election candidates or politicians, as well as political topics. The types of fact-checking coverage primarily included factual information, as well as some opinions or interpretations. Fact-check coverage was mainly focused on the facts of the statements themselves, causal relationships, or the timing or target of the comparison criteria. On average, the fact-checking coverage most frequently assigned the judgment 'mostly false, and primarily used interviews of individuals or data from organizations involved in the issue, government data, and experts' statements as the bases for its fact-checking judgements.

  • We investigate the underlying structure of big data research domain, which is diversified and complicated using bottom-up approach. For that purpose, we derive a set of articles by searching "big data" through the Korea Citation Index System provided by National Research Foundation of Korea. With some preprocessing on the author-provided keywords, we analyze bibliometric data such as author-provided keywords, publication year, author, and journal characteristics. From the analysis, we both identify major sub-domains of big data research area and discover the hidden issues which made big data complex. Major keywords identified include SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS, HADOOP, MAPREDUCE, PERSONAL INFORMATION POLICY/PROTECTION/PRIVATE INFORMATION, CLOUD COMPUTING, VISUALIZATION, and DATA MINING. We finally suggest missing research themes to make big data a sustainable management innovation and convergence medium.

  • There exists a many-to-many mapping relationship between persons and their names. A person may have multiple names, and different persons may share the same name. These synonymous and homonymous names may severely deteriorate the recall and precision of the person search, respectively. This study addresses the characteristics of features for resolving homonymous author names appearing in citation data. As disambiguation features, previous works have employed citation-internal features such as co-authorship, titles of articles, titles of publications as well as citation-external features such as emails, affiliations, Web evidences. To the best of our knowledge, however, there has been no literature to deal with the influences of features on author disambiguation. This study analyzes the effect of individual features on author resolution using a large-scale test set for Korean.

  • The purpose of this study was to critically review biomechanical studies on foot orthoses (FO) in normal and diseased foot and provide beneficial information obtained from researches until now and future researching focus. The search was performed by Medline and Embase database including studies published in English from January 1980 to April 2007. The searching terms were foot orthoses, foot orthotics, insoles and shoe insert. 57 studies including 54 journal articles and 3 abstracts were finally selected under the conditions of having clinical trials, FO, control condition, movement, scientific measuring system. The reviewed studies were divided into 10 categories according to subject characteristics; healthy normal, excessive pronation or flexible flat foot, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, medial knee osteoarthritis, forefoot varus, plantar fasciitis, patellofemoral syndrome, cavus foot and finite element model. In summary, first, soft and semirigid FOs with some degree of cushioning showed much higher comfort and efficacy than rigid FO. Second, no big differences between prefabricated and custom FO were shown. Third, the full length's FO was preferable to the half length's FO or simple arch supports. Fourth, the wearing of FO combining medial arch supports and metatarsal dome made positive roles to enhance comfort and functionality and redistribute plantar pressure under the foot. Fifth, for patients with knee-related diseases lateral wedges were preferable. Sixth, measuring systems were properly applied according to the types of foot diseases.

  • Recently, a lot of articles and writings defending animal right and welfare are introduced into our society. For example, P. Singer's Animal Liberation, T. Regan's The Case for Animal Rights, and J. Rachels's Created From Animal are representative writings of animal ethics. In his books, P. Singer maintains that all animals are equal. T. Regan insisted that animals as a subject of a life have rights. J. Rachels's moral individualism is that how an individual may be treated is to be determined, not by considering his group membership, but by considering his own particular characteristics. Interestingly, they use common argument called 'argument from marginal cases' to justify their theoretical positions. If we can disclose the weakness of the argument, all kinds of animal ethics which defend animal right and welfare such as animal liberation theory, animal rights theory and moral individualism will collapse. In this paper, I will examine the concrete contexts in which Singer, Regan and Rachels make use of the argument. And I will critically examine the argument. Lastly I will show that the attempt to deny the difference of species is unsuccessful.

  • This study examined four ecological systems, namely individual, family, school, and media environments. A series of moderator analyses were conducted to examine variations in effect size estimates across the study characteristics. The current study estimated that the effect size results were gleaned from 360 primary studies, including 90 journal articles and 270 thesis/dissertations, published between 2011 and 2022. The current meta-analysis results supported the ecological framework. That is, the impact of each ecological system on the development of positive and negative peer relationships varies depending on age groups and protective-risk factors. Specifically, for positive peer relationships, the largest effect size of the protective factor was found at the individual level for young and school- aged children, but at the school level for adolescents. Regarding the risk factors for positive peer relationships, the media was the ecological system with the strongest effect size for both young children and adolescents, while the individual-level demonstrating the strongest effect for school-aged children. Results from this meta-analysis allow us to identify some vital intervention areas in terms of healthy peer-relationship development, which should be of considerable interest to the educators and policymakers who are responsible for assessing and intervening with at-risk young children, school-aged children, and adolescents. From a practical standpoint, the current meta-analysis results are expected to contribute to developing effective prevention initiatives by targeting specific protective and risk factors for peer relationship development on the ecological system level.
