A Case Study of Line Friends Character TransMedia Branding ('라인 프렌즈' 캐릭터의 트랜스미디어 브랜딩 사례연구)

  • This paper proposes a trans-media branding for the trans-media-based cultural content marketing strategy. Trans-media brand analytical framework is proposed with previous studies. And mobile messenger Character 'Line Friends' is analyzed for the text. Trans-media branding is accessible through a multi-platform in the technological environment. Consumer culture, as well as participate include business models to generate revenue also as brand equity. While the character elements that make up the story from the perspective of cultural content storytelling act as an independent cultural goods. Character is segmented elements. Therefore, trans- media branding of the characters are more meaningful. 'Line Friends' trans-media branding can be summarized as follows: First, it takes advantage of the characteristics of the existing Information-Technology-based mobile. Second, it puts consistently found the content of the attributes of Mobile Messenger 'communication' and 'friendship'. And third, while the content of each platform is constantly linked with other platforms, the brand is positioned inside the window effect.

  • With the rise of the game industry, the importance of the game's storytelling is also increasing. Delivering a specific world view of a game has a tremendous effect on the immersion of the game, so the method of delivering a story needs to be studied continuously. In this study, the character was implemented using 3D modelling tool, and the initial story of the game was delivered through a dialogue window using a game engine. Through the research, we were able to establish a workflow for telling stories using a character and understand each process in depth, which we expect to be the basis for more sophisticated game character development and smooth storytelling in the future.

  • Storytelling is one of the important features in the elementary school mathematics textbooks of the 2009 revised curriculum. In particular, the whole 'comparing objects' unit in the first grade mathematics textbook is based on storytelling method. In this study, we investigate the contents of the stories and the mathematical activities in the 'comparing objects' unit from both mathematical and character educational viewpoints. Based on our investigations, we analyze educational problems on teaching and learning mathematics as storytelling, suggest reconstructed alternative mathematical activities, and drew their educational implications.

  • This paper aims to explore the glocal storytelling strategy of hero's journey content. Many digital games use hero's journey as a framework. However, it is also true that game storytelling is so common that it is soon recognized as a hero's journey. Therefore, this paper paid attention to the new hero's journey application method of the webtoon . The story created an atypical and Korean character on a typical hero's journey plot. It implements an alternative glocal storytelling aiming at harmony between the region and the world by presenting a regional character on a global universal plot.

  • Character business is generally synthetic business over the cultural barrier and it is highly estimated because it creates high added value as emotional business when emotional marketing is the hottest thing on the market lately.   • Visual narrative or storytelling involve two important aspects of the cognitive perception: the conscious and subconscious. Color is one of the cognitive storytelling elements, its interpretation is captured by the subconscious and it is considered an emotional resource due to its psychological background. On the other hand, the character is also part of cognitive perception and storytelling tool, but this is interpreted consciously, character is considered as a logical resource. Ghibli and Disney have organized their cinematographic techniques in different ways, so it would be unfair to say that one narrative style is better than the other, it depends of perception of beauty which varies according to society. However the present study seeks to determine the differences between Ghibli and Disney narrative style, taking as reference color. Ghibli and Disney are perfect example about color effects as a storytelling agent, It can be classified in two aspects: dynamics of color and color as a narrative sequence. The dynamics of color analyzes how color acts and is perceived into a stage, its meaning and symbolism regardless of the character's actions. The narrative sequence studies how color thermologic evolves in scene's development.

A Study on Narrative Structure of the Hero Character in the Movie 'Captain America' Series (영화 '캡틴아메리카' 시리즈에 나타난 영웅 캐릭터의 서사구조에 관한 연구)

  • Chapter 1 and 2 of this study examined the methodology of modern storytelling using the hero narrative structure. This involved analyses of Joseph Campbell's monomyth structure, which is the prototype model of modern storytelling and Christopher Vogler's story structure in which the monomyth structure is classified into 3 Acts and 12 Stages. In addition, the movie 'Captain America' was analyzed based on Vogler's narrative structure theory. According to the analyses results, the hero of 'Captain America' fully follows Christopher Vogler's hero narrative structure but in some cases, he does not follow the existing hero narrative structure. It is interpreted that this is because heroes of modern tales have different birth backgrounds from mythical heroes. There is also a difference even in the stage where a hero completes all adventures and returns home between modern tales and myths due to different social backgrounds. Therefore, these findings provide a basis for modification and supplementation of a modern hero epic. Through this analysis, the modified modern hero narrative structure is evaluated to be appropriate as a basic model for modern storytelling. Further, it is expected that those who frame a film script can complete a new hero epic while following the structure of syntagmatic systems by selecting a level among Northrop Frye's paragmatic systems based on this structure and considering story themes and heroes' personality and characteristics.

The Meaning and Applications of Storytelling in Elementary Mathematics Education-Focused on Elementary Mathematics Textbooks (초등수학교육에서 스토리텔링의 의미와 적용 방안 -초등수학교과서를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematical storytelling in Korean elementary mathematics textbooks and propose some applications for better storytelling, Storytelling strategies were introduced for enhancing students' understanding on mathematical concepts and improving students' attitudes toward mathematics. For this study, the researcher analyzed the 2nd grade mathematics textbook that employs storytelling strategies. The results are as follows. First, current storytelling textbook chapter is designed to appreciate students' intellectual autonomy. Second, current storytelling textbook chapter includes the storytelling that helps understand mathematical concepts and exercise mathematical skills. Third, current storytelling textbook chapter is designed for enhancing students' interest and helping students' character education. The researcher suggested the followings. First, a long term field-based research should be continued for more improved mathematical storytelling materials. Second, a digital format storytelling also needs to be developed as an alternative strategy of mathematical storytelling, which reinforces interactions between teller and listeners.

  • In this paper, based on the production technology and infrastructure of local cultural contents, it is determined that reconstruction and commercialization of local culture resources are necessary due to absence of character brand products centered on storytelling. It is expected to contribute to the expansion of the supply of advanced ceramic products along with the foundation of various contents production as it becomes the foundation to establish the developed business base through the differentiation strategy of the character product development based on the storytelling. In addition, due to the manual production, only a small amount of production can be produced and the production period is lengthened. On the other hand, the production period of gypsum mold is shortened by making mock-up through 3D program and 3D printing, It was effective in developing a wide variety of pottery products.
