  • In the present paper we study the Cauchy problem in a Banach space E for an abstract nonlinear differential equation of form $$\frac{d^2u}{dt^2}=-A{\frac{du}{dt}}+B(t)u+f(t, W)$$ where W=($A_1$(t)u, A_2(t)u)..., A_{\nu}(t)u), A_{i}(t),\;i=1,2,...{\nu}$,(B(t), t{\in}I$=[0, b]) are families of closed operators defined on dense sets in E into E, f is a given abstract nonlinear function on $I{\times}E^{\nu}$ into E and -A is a closed linar operator defined on dense set in e into E which generates a semi-group. Further the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the considered Cauchy problem is studied for a wide class of the families ($A_{i}$(t), i =1.2...${\nu}$), (B(t), $t{\in}I$) An application and some properties are also given for the theory of partial diferential equations.

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of evolution strategies combined with reinforcement learning. We use the variances of fitness occurred by mutation to make the reinforcement signals which estimate and control the step length of mutation. With this proposed method, the convergence rate is improved. Also, we use cauchy distributed mutation to increase global convergence faculty. Cauchy distributed mutation is more likely to escape from a local minimum or move away from a plateau. After an outline of the history of evolution strategies, it is explained how evolution strategies can be combined with the reinforcement learning, named reinforcement evolution strategies. The performance of proposed method will be estimated by comparison with conventional evolution strategies on several test problems.

  • To manage large database system with video, effective video indexing and retrieval are required. A large number of video retrieval algorithms have been presented for frame-wise user query or video content query, whereas a few video identification algorithms have been proposed for video sequence query. In this paper, we propose an effective video identification algorithm for video sequence query that employs the Cauchy function of histograms between successive frames and the modified Hausdorff distance. To effectively match the video sequences with a low computational load, we make use of the key frames extracted by the cumulative Cauchy function and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results with several color video sequences show that the proposed algorithm for video identification yields remarkably higher performance than conventional algorithms such as Euclidean metric, and directed divergence methods.

  • This paper is devoted to the study of $Tur{\acute{a}}n$-type inequalities for some well-known special functions such as Gauss hypergeometric functions, generalized complete elliptic integrals and confluent hypergeometric functions which are derived by using a new form of the Cauchy-Bunyakovsky-Schwarz inequality. We also apply these inequalities for some sample of interest such as incomplete beta function, incomplete gamma function, elliptic integrals and modified Bessel functions to obtain their corresponding $Tur{\acute{a}}n$-type inequalities.

  • We study the topics of the lectures in Analysis in 19th century at Ecole Polytechnique of France through the lists of the contents of the Cours d'Analyse by Cauchy, Sturm and Jordan, respectively and also we show how they stated the definitions of functions, continuity and limits in their Cours d'Analyse. Through this, we see that in 19th century, in France, analysis included differential and integral calculus, differential equations, variations and applications of these to differential geometry, and it was far from today's mathematical analysis.

  • In analyzing the nano-scale behavior of nano devices or materials, QC method is efficient because it does not treat all the atoms. But for more accurate analysis in QC method, it is important to consider temperature and surface effects. In finite temperature, free energy is considered instead of potential energy. Because the surface area to volume ratio increases as the length scale of a body decreases, the surface effects are more dominant. In this paper, temperature related Cauchy-Born rule and surface Cauchy-Born rule are proposed to configurate the strain energy density. This method is applied to small and homogeneous deformation in two dimensional problem using finite element simulation.

  • Herein, an algorithm for efficient evaluation of oscillatory Fourier-integrals with Jacobi-Cauchy type singularities is suggested. This method is based on the use of the traditional Clenshaw-Curtis (CC) algorithms in which the given function is approximated by the truncated Chebyshev series, term by term, and the oscillatory factor is approximated by using Bessel function of the first kind. Subsequently, the modified moments are computed efficiently using the numerical steepest descent method or special functions. Furthermore, Algorithm and programming code in MATHEMATICA® 9.0 are provided for the implementation of the method for automatic computation on a computer. Finally, selected numerical examples are given in support of our theoretical analysis.

  • In this paper, we obtain the general solution and the stability of the multi-dimensional Cauchy's functional equation $f(x_1+y_1,{\cdots},x_n+y_n)=f(x_1,{\cdots},x_n)+f(y_1,{\cdots},y_n)$. The function f given by $f(x_1,{\cdots},x_n)=a_1x_1+{\cdots}+a_nx_n$ is a solution of the above functional equation.

  • We show a series of improved subseries convergence results, e.g., in a sequentially complete locally convex space X every weakly $c_0$-Cauchy series on X must be $c_0$-convergent. Thus, if X contains no copy of $c_0$, then every weakly $c_0$-Cauchy series on X must be subseries convergent.
