A Theoretical Approach on the Turbulence Intensity of the Carrier Fluid in Two-phase Particle-laden Flows (고체입자가 부상된 이상유동에서 운반유체의 난류강도에 대한 해석적 접근)

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the model of turbulence modulation due to the presence of particles in various types of particle-laden flows Available experimental data are surveyed and the dependence of turbulence modulation of carrier-phase on particle size, concentration and. particle Reynolds number are examined. This study takes into account the effect of wake produced by particle, the drag between phases and the velocity gradient in the wake to estimate the production of turbulence. The model of turbulence modulation using the mixing length theory under the assumption of equilibrium flow is proposed. Numerical results show that the model is successful in predicting the characteristics of the particle-laden in various flow conditions both qualitatively and quantitatively.

  • This paper deals with the novel DPWM(discontinuous PWM) for 3-level inverter. Although DPWM methods generate higher harmonics than SVPWM they are of special interest because of their lower switching losses. And in the high modulation region the harmonic characteristics of DPWM is superior to the that of CPWM. However when DPWM applies to the 3-level inverter there is the problem that the output state is varied suddenly in the low modulation region($\textrm{m}_{I}$=0~0.5) The novel DPWM that this problem improves will be introduced.

  • In this paper, author studied on the elementary data required for the design of the receiver of Pseudo Noise (PN) phase modulation communication adopted in Global Positioning System(GPS). By computer simulation technique, the phase modulator, filters, and PN generator are designed, and also required bandwidth of R-F amplifier for carrier frequency in phase modulation system is investigated. It is verified that the optimum bandwidth is about 3 times of the PN frequency and almost independent of the carrier frequency. And the low pass filter required for demodulation of slow Boolean data is also found to be about 60 times of the data signal frequency.

Fast Voltage-Balancing Scheme for a Carrier-Based Modulation in Three-Phase and Single-Phase NPC Three-Level Inverters

  • In this paper, a novel neutral-point voltage balancing scheme for NPC three-level inverters using carrier-based sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) method is developed. The new modulation approach, based on the obtained expressions of zero sequence voltage in all six sectors, can significantly suppress the low-frequency voltage oscillation in the neutral point at high modulation index and achieve a fast voltage-balancing dynamic performance. The implementation of the proposed method is very simple. Another attractive feature is that the scheme can stably control any voltage difference between the two dc-link capacitors within a certain range without using any extra hardware. Furthermore, the presented scheme is also applicable to the single-phase NPC three-level inverter. It can maintain the neutral-point voltage balance at full modulation index and improve the voltage-balancing dynamic performance of the single-phase NPC three-level inverter. The performance of the proposed strategy and its benefits over other previous techniques are verified experimentally.

  • To analyze th frequency modulation system the characteristic equation of the F-M system, i.e., Mathieu's equation, is derived from the equivalent circuits of direct modulation system. The analysis of F-M equation is undertaken by the Yonsei 101 Analog Computer. And the computer solution is compared with the theoretical solution. It is concluded that not only the frequency but also the amplitude of the carrier wave are changed by varying the modulation index and the system becomes unstable if the modulation index is increased near to unity.

  • In this paper, We stduy addtional consideration and method to treat carrier frquency offset on defined system parameter & requirements in IALA G1139, previous studied consecutively. We studied the method to treat carrier frequency offset by extending length of training symbol and by differential modulation. This study will publish and argue in IALA ENAV22. We will decide a method to treat carrier frequency offset from result of IALA ENAV22.

  • In this paper, the visible light communication (VLC) techniques based on the carrier modulation are considered in order to realize the VLC application service that has the functions of the high speed optical sensing and the wide range reception from VLC transmitter. The VLC hardware circuits based on the 32.768 kHz low frequency carrier and 4 MHz high frequency carrier are designed and implemented respectively, and the signal waveform generated from the implemented circuits are observed. In addition, various performance experiments are done with the prototypes.

  • We investigated the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) tolerance for 40Gb/s non-return to zero (NRZ), duobinary NRZ, return to zero (RZ), carrier-suppressed RZ (CS-RZ), and duobinary-carrier-suppressed RZ (DCS-RZ) modulation formats with a forward error correction (FEC) coding. The power penalty has been calculated as a measure of the system performance due to PMD. After comparison of the PMD tolerance of various modulation formats, our results suggest that RZ signals have the best tolerance against the effect of first-order PMD only. The duobinary NRZ modulation format is most resilient to PMD when both first- and second-order PMD are considered. However, the duobinary NRZ modulation format is the most sensitive to the incident angle of the input signal to a fiber axis in the presence of first- and second-order PMD, leading to incident angle-dependent power penalty. The coding gain by FEC can cope with the power penalties induced by first- and second-order PMD up to a DGD value of 16ps.

  • An improved carrier PWM method for three phase voltage source inverters is proposed. The basic idea of the proposed method is deleting unnecessary 1/3 of switchings in the saw tooth carrier PWM method. The lowest frequency of the remained harmonics of this method (when the modulation index is large) is about 50% higher and the maximum modulated voltage is about 15% higher than those of the triangular carrier PWM method. This method will be useful especially in the linear feedback current control and MOSFET inverters.

  • The performance of continuous phase modulation signals is well known for the coherent demodulation. But the carrier recovery circuits of the coherent receiver have long acquisition time and the receiver experiences high error floors for fading channels. In this paper, we propose the differential demodulation of 2-h continuous phase modulation signals. The sets of modulation indices of 2-h phase codes adequate to the differential demodulation for differentially encoded input are obtained and the average bit error probability in Additive White Gaussian Noise environments is derived and analyzed.
