Experimental investigation on heat transfer ratio was firstly performed with three types of sandwich panels such as the Carbon/Epoxy Skin-Aluminum Honeycomb and Balsa Core Sandwich Panel of 37mm thickness, the Carbon/Epoxy Aluminum Skin-Honeycomb Core Sandwich Panel of 57mm thickness (including insulator) and the Carbon/Epoxy Skin-Aluminum Honeycomb Core Sandwich Panel of 37mm thickness based on the KS F 2278:2003(Insulation test method of windows). In additional to this investigation, experimental tests were also done for evaluation of heat transportation ratio with the Aluminum Skin- Aluminium Honeycomb Sandwich Panels of 27mm and 35mm thickness, and Aluminum Skin-Foaming Aluminum Sandwich Panel of 27mm thickness by the KS F2277:2002 (Insulation measuring method of construction component-Calibration heat box method or protective heat box method). In this study, it was found that the larger net heat transfer cross sectional area between the skin and the sandwich core is given, the higher heat transportation ratio occurs. It was also found that the hybrid type insulation had better insulation characteristics compared to the non-hybrid type insulation.
The goal of this study is to fill this apparent gap in the area about vibration analysis of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) curved panels by providing 3-D vibration analysis results for functionally graded multiwalled carbon nanotubes (FG-MWCNTs) sandwich structure with power-law distribution of nanotube. The effective material properties of the FG-MWCNT structures are estimated using a modified Halpin-Tsai equation. Modified Halpin-Tsai equation was used to evaluate the Young's modulus of MWCNT/epoxy composite samples by the incorporation of an orientation as well as an exponential shape factor in the equation. The exponential shape factor modifies the Halpin-Tsai equation from expressing a straight line to a nonlinear one in the MWCNTs wt% range considered. Also, the mass density and Poisson's ratio of the MWCNT/phenolic composite are considered based on the rule of mixtures. Parametric studies are carried out to highlight the influence of MWCNT volume fraction in the thickness, different types of CNT distribution, boundary conditions and geometrical parameters on vibrational behavior of FG-MWCNT thick curved panels. Because of using two-dimensional generalized differential quadrature method, the present approach makes possible vibration analysis of cylindrical panels with two opposite axial edges simply supported and arbitrary boundary conditions including Free, Simply supported and Clamped at the curved edges. For an overall comprehension on 3-D vibration analysis of sandwich panel, some mode shape contour plots are reported in this research work.

Mechanical test of the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) composite specimen was performed based on the ASTM code at the ambient and low temperature. Tension, compression in-plane shear, and inter-laminar shear properties of the composite laminates were evaluated experimentally using the Universal Testing Machine(UTM) system at the temperature of $24^{\circ}C$,$-76^{\circ}C$ , and $-196^{\circ}C$. From the test results it was found that the CFRP chosen for the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research(KSTAR) magnet supporting post had smaller tensile strength and larger compressive strength at the low temperature than those of the ambient temperature because of material ductility.
This paper presents the mechanical properties of a composite consisting of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin mixed with carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) pieces (CFRP/ABS). CFRP pieces made by crushing CFRP wastes were utilized in this material. Nine kinds of CFRP/ABS compounds with different weight fraction and size of CFRP pieces were prepared. Firstly, tensile and flexural tests were performed for the specimens with various CFRP content. Next, fracture surfaces of the specimens were microscopically observed to investigate fracture behavior and fiber/resin interface. Finally, the tensile modulus and strength were discussed based on the macromechanical model. It is found that the elastic modulus increases linearly with increasing CFRP content while the strength changes nonlinearly. Microscopic observation revealed that most carbon fibers are separated individually and dispersed homogeneously in ABS resin. Epoxy resin particles originally from CFRP are dispersed in ABS resin and seem to be in good contact with surrounding resin. The modulus and strength can be expressed using a macromechanical model taking account of fiber orientation, length and interfacial bonding in short fiber composites.
To reduce structural weight, light metals, including aluminum and magnesium alloys, have been widely used in various industries such as aircraft, transportation and automobiles. Recently, composite materials such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) and Graphite Epoxy Composite Material (GECM) have also been applied. However, aluminum and its alloys suffer corrosion from various factors, which include aggressive ions, pH, solution temperature and galvanic contact by potential difference. Moreover, carbon fiber in CFRP and GECM is a very efficient cathode, and very noble in the galvanic series. Galvanic contact between carbon fiber composites and metals in electrolytes such as rain or seawater, is highly undesirable. Notwithstanding the potentially dangerous effects of chloride and temperature, there is little research on galvanic corrosion according to chloride concentration and temperature. This work focused on the effects of chloride concentration and solution temperature on AA7075T6. The increased galvanic corrosion between CRFP and AA7075T6 was evaluated by electrochemical experiments, and these effects were elucidated.
Mechanical behavior and electrical resistance change of CPDP (carbon particle dispersed plastic) composite consisting of epoxy resin and conductive carbon particle were investigated under monotonic loading and repeated loading-unloading. The electrical resistance almost linearly increased with increasing strain during loading and the residual electrical resistance was observed even after removing load. The value of the residual electrical resistance was dependent on the maximum strain under the applied stress. This result suggests that the estimation of maximum strain (i.e., damage) is possible by the measuring electrical resistance of composite. The behavior of electrical resistance change during and after loading was discussed on the basis of the results of microscopic deformation and fracture observation. Moreover, the relationship between the volume fraction of carbon particle and the electrical resistivity of CPDP was investigated in relation to the percolation theory. Simulation model of percolation structure was established by Monte Carlo method and the simulation result was compared to the experimental results. The electrical resistance change under applied loading was analyzed quantitatively using the percolation equation and a simple model for the critical volume fraction of carbon particle as a function of the mechanical stress. It was revealed that the prediction was in good agreement with the experimental result except in the region near the failure of material.
In this paper, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) particles were added between the sheets of prepreg, and the effect of on many properties of BN-embedded carbon fiber reinforced plastics was investigated. The amount of BN particles which corresponds with 0 to 15 wt% of total resin weight was used as an additive material. The tensile strength and the inter-laminar shear strength of BN-embedded CFRP samples were improved by maximally 13.6%, and 6.7%, respectively. The tendency changes of thermal, electrical conductivities and the morphology of cross-section of CFRPs were also observed. This study suggests the possibility of controlling the characteristics of carbon fiber-BN-epoxy composites to use for aerospace applications.
In this study, the strength safety of a composite fuel tank which is fabricated by an aluminum liner of Al6061-T6 materials and composite layers of carbon/epoxy-glass/epoxy composites has been analyzed by using a finite element analysis technique. In order to enhance the durability of the composite fuel tank, an autofrettage process was used and compressed natural gas was supplied to the prestressed fuel tank. The FEM computed results on the stress safety of autofrettaged gas tanks were compared with a criterion of design safety of US DOT-CFFC and Korean Standard. The FEM computed results indicated that the stress safety of autofrettaged fuels tanks shows instability at the dome zone and uniform stability at the parallel body, which provide an evaluation data for a strength safety of autofrettaged composite fuel tanks. The computed results show that the stress safety of 9.2 liter composite fuel tanks satisfied the safety criteria of four evaluation items, which are provided by US DOT-CFFC and KS and indicated a safe design.

The Carbon fiber epoxy composite material and aluminum have many advantages about higher specific stiffness and good fatigue characteristics. basically, the propeller shaft of automobile must satisfy high natural frequency more than 9,200 rpm to satisfy high number of rotation and high torsion torque more than 2,700Nm. In these reason, studied natural frequency and torsion torque characteristics of shaft according to parameter variations with the outdiameter and thickness. From the torsion tester and natural frequency experiments FE analyses was compared vibration and torque characteristics of hybrid shaft Designed hybrid shaft was experimented through FFT analyzer and torsion tester each and satisfied that hybrid shaft reverence 60mm and thickness 5mm by a these experiment is most suitable. Therefore, that can manufacture existent steel two piece type propeller shaft to one piece type hybrid shaft.

Fast cook-off test with rocket motors was performed and characteristics of the results were analyzed. The material of the motor case was carbon epoxy composite. The motor was loaded with HTPE propellants to improve the insensitive munitions characteristics. In the tests, sound pressure and heat flux sensors were used to determine the category of response according to the standard. The reaction response of all of the HTPE motors tested by fast cook-off was judged as Type V burning.
