  • In this paper, we presents a CDR circuit for $2^{nd}$-generation AiPi+, one of the Intra-panel Interface. The speed of the proposed clock and data recovery is increased to 1.25 Gbps compared with that of AiPi+. The DLL-based CDR architecture is used to generate the multi-phase clocks. We propose the simple scheme for frequency detector (FD) to mitigate the harmonic-locking and reduce the complexity. In addition, the duty cycle corrector that limits the maximum pulse width is used to avoid the problem of missing clock edges due to the mismatch between rising and falling time of VCDL's delay cells. The proposed CDR is implemented in 0.18 um technology with the supply voltage of 1.8 V. The active die area is $660\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;250\;{\mu}m$, and supply voltage is 1.8 V. Peak-to-Peak jitter is less than 15 ps and the power consumption of the CDR except input buffer, equalizer, and de-serializer is 5.94 mW.

  • In this paper, a 5-bit 2-GS/s 2-way time interleaved pipeline ADC for high-speed serial link receiver is demonstrated. Implemented as a current-mode amplifier, the stage ADC simultaneously processes the tracking and residue amplification to achieve higher sampling rate. In addition, each stage incorporates a built-in 1-tap FIR equalizer, reducing inter-symbol-interference (ISI)without an extra digital post-processing. The ADC is designed in a 110nm CMOS technology. It comsumes 91mW from a 1.2-V supply. The area excluding the memory block is $0.58{\times}0.42mm^2$. Simulation results show that when equalizer is enabled, the ADC achieves SNDR of 25.2dB and ENOB of 3.9bits at 2.0GS/s sample rate for a Nyquist input signal. When the equalizer is disengaged, SNDR is 26.0dB for 20MHz-1.0GHz input signal, and the ENOB of 4.0bits.

  • This paper presents a wide-frequency-range, low-power transceiver with an automatic impedance-matching calibration for TV-white-space (TVWS) application. The wide-range automatic impedance matching calibration (AIMC) is proposed for the Drive Amplifier (DA) and LNA. The optimal $S_{22}$ and $S_{11}$ matching capacitances are selected in the DA and LNA, respectively. Also, the Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch is integrated to share the antenna and matching network between the transmitter and receiver, thereby minimizing the systemic cost. An N-path filter is proposed to reject the large interferers in the TVWS frequency band. The current-driven mixer with a 25% duty LO generator is designed to achieve the high-gain and low-noise figures; also, the frequency synthesizer is designed to generate the wide-range LO signals, and it is used to implement the FSK modulation with a programmable loop bandwidth for multi-rate communication. The TVWS transceiver is implemented in $0.13{\mu}m$, 1-poly, 6-metal CMOS technology. The die area of the transceiver is $4mm{\times}3mm$. The power consumption levels of the transmitter and receiver are 64.35 mW and 39.8 mW, respectively, when the output-power level of the transmitter is +10 dBm at a supply voltage of 3.3 V. The phase noise of the PLL output at Band 2 is -128.3 dBc/Hz with a 1 MHz offset.

  • Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistors (CNTFETs) have been studied as candidates for post Si CMOS owing to the better electrostatic control and high mobility. To enhance the immunity against short - channel effects (SCEs), the novel channel and gate engineered architectures have been proposed to improve CNTFETs performance. This work presents a comprehensive study of the influence of channel and gate engineering on the CNTFET switching, high frequency and circuit level performance of carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFETs). At device level, the effects of channel and gate engineering on the switching and high frequency characteristics for CNTFET have been theoretically investigated by using a quantum kinetic model. This model is based on two-dimensional non-equilibrium Green's functions (NEGF) solved self - consistently with Poisson's equations. It is revealed that hetero - material - gate and lightly doped drain and source CNTFET (HMG - LDDS - CNTFET) structure can significantly reduce leakage current, enhance control ability of the gate on channel, improve the switching speed, and is more suitable for use in low power, high frequency circuits. At circuit level, using the HSPICE with look - up table(LUT) based Verilog - A models, the impact of the channel and gate engineering on basic digital circuits (inverter, static random access memory cell) have been investigated systematically. The performance parameters of circuits have been calculated and the optimum metal gate workfunction combinations of ${\Phi}_{M1}/{\Phi}_{M2}$ have been concluded in terms of power consumption, average delay, stability, energy consumption and power - delay product (PDP). In addition, we discuss and compare the CNTFET-based circuit designs of various logic gates, including ternary and binary logic. Simulation results indicate that LDDS - HMG - CNTFET circuits with ternary logic gate design have significantly better performance in comparison with other structures.

  • In this paper, the block cipher algorithms, 3-DES(Triple Data Encryption Standard), AES(Advanced Encryption Standard), SEED, HASH(SHA-1), which are domestic and international standards, have been implemented as an integrated cryptographic engine for smart card applications. For small area and low power design which are essential requirements for portable devices, arithmetic resources are shared for iteration steps in each algorithm, and a two-level clock gating technique was used to reduce the dynamic power consumption. The integrated cryptographic engine was verified with ALTERA Excalbur EPXA10F1020C device, requiring 7,729 LEs(Logic Elements) and 512 Bytes ROM, and its maximum clock speed was 24.83 MHz. When designed by using Samsung 0.18 um STD130 standard cell library, the engine consisted of 44,452 gates and had up to 50 MHz operation clock speed. It was estimated to consume 2.96 mW, 3.03 mW, 2.63 mW, 7.06 mW power at 3-DES, AES, SEED, SHA-1 modes respectively when operating at 25 MHz clock. We found that it has better area-power optimized structure than other existing designs for smart cards and various embedded security systems.

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the delay and area of the partial product accumulation (PPA) of the parallel decimal multiplier, a tree architecture that composed by multi-operand decimal CSAs and improved CLA is proposed. The proposed tree using multi-operand CSAs reduces the partial product quickly. Since the input range of the recoder of CSA is limited, CSA can get the simplest logic. In addition, using the multi-operand decimal CSAs to add decimal numbers that have limited range in specific locations of the specific architecture can reduce the partial products efficiently. Also, final BCD result can be received faster by improving the logic of the decimal CLA. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed partial product accumulation, synthesis is implemented by using Design Complier with 180 nm COMS technology library. Synthesis results show the delay of the proposed partial product accumulation is reduced by 15.6% and area is reduced by 16.2% comparing with which uses general method. Also, the total delay and area are still reduced despite the delay and area of the CLA are increased.

  • This paper is studied micro-defect characteristics by phosphorus 1MeV ion implantation and Rs, SRP, SIMS, XTEM for the RTA process was measured and simulated. As the dose is higher, the Rs is lower. When the dose are $1{\times}10^{13}/cm^2,\;5{\times}10^{13}/cm^2,\;1{\times}10^{14}/cm^2$, the Rp are $1.15{\mu}m,\;1.15{\mu},\;1.10{\mu}m$ respectively. As the RTA time is longer, the maximum concentration position is deeper from the surface and the concentration is lower. Before the RTA was done, we didn't observe any defect. But after the RTA process was done, we could observe the RTA process changed the micro-defects into the secondary defects. The simulation using the buried layer and connecting layer structure was performed. As results, the connecting layer had more effect than the buried layer to latch-up immune. Trigger current was more $0.6mA/{\mu}m$ and trigger voltage was 6V at dose $1{\times}10^{14}/cm^2$ and the energy 500KeV of connecting layer Lower connecting layer dose, latch-up immune characteristics was better.

  • Objectives : We developed two-dimensional (2D) scanning videokyomography to evaluate the mucosal wave of whole vocal cords in real time to overcome the limit of preexisting stroboscopy and line scanning videokymography which could not evaluate it. Methods : We implemented a continuous light source with high brightness, a high-definition CMOS camera, and capture board for saving the data. We created the software program to analyze the image data from the system. The test of the functionality of the 2D scanning videokymography camera was performed in one of the authors (P.H.J 32 years old male). Vocal cord images were obtained during normal phonation and falsetto phonation. Images were obtained also during cough, diplophonia. Results : The system made it possible to measure objective parameters, including fundamental frequency, amplitude, regularity, mucosal wave, and phase difference, medial and lateral peak, opening versus closing duration related to vocal fold vibration. Simultaneously, it enabled analysis of the whole mucosal wave of the entire vocal fold in real time. 2D scanning videokymography was also effective for evaluating the dynamic status of the vocal fold when the subject phonated aperiodic voice. Conclusion : In conclusion, 2D scanning videokymography can support the analysis of the whole mucosal wave of the entire vocal cord with objective vocal parameters, overcoming the limitations of stroboscopy and previous line scanning videokymography techniques.

  • An optical televiewer is a geophysical logging device that produces continuous high-resolution full-azimuth images of a borehole wall using a light-emitting-diode and a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor image sensor to provide valuable information on subsurface discontinuities. Recently, borehole imaging logging has been applied in many fields, including ground subsidence monitoring, rock mass integrity evaluation, stress-induced fracture detection, and glacial annual-layer measurements in polar regions. Widely used commercial borehole imaging logging systems typically have limitations depending on equipment specifications, meaning that it is necessary to clearly verify the scope of applications while maintaining appropriate quality control for various borehole conditions. However, it is difficult to directly check the accuracy, implementation, and reliability for outcomes, as images derived from an optical televiewer constitute in situ data. In this study, we designed and constructed a modular fractured borehole model having similar conditions to a borehole environment to report unprecedented results regarding reliable data acquisition and processing. We investigate sonde magnetometer accuracy, color realization, and fracture resolution, and suggest data processing methods to obtain accurate aperture measurements. The experiment involving the fractured borehole model should enhance not only measurement quality but also interpretations of high-resolution and reliable optical imaging logs.
