  • Recently, various industrial sectors have introduced cloud service actively in their business because cloud computing technology enables storage·management and analysis·utilization of data easily in anytime, anywhere. Especially in financial sector, the business provocatively adopted the service and creates various innovative cases; furthermore, already in abroad, the sector has been accelerating digitization of analysis in cases of credit risk, financial fraud data, stock trading etc. On the contrary, in the domestic financial industry, not only the cloud service introduction and innovation cases are underperformed, but most of them are focused on the back-office service. Most Korean financial corporations are burdened with the adoption of cloud service due to various conservative regulatory requirements, such as regulations on data storage and management, regulations on privacy, and other tasks such as developing decision models and establishing responsibility standard for security incidents and service failures. In this study, it would be aimed to contribute to promote the introduction of the cloud in the domestic financial sector by drawing up preemptive challenges and inspecting priorities.

Development of production planning system for shipbuilding using component-based development framework

  • Production planning is a key part of production management of manufacturing enterprises. Since computerization began, modern production planning has been developed starting with Material Requirement Planning (MRP), and today Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS), Supply Chain Management (SCM) has been spreading and advanced. However, in the shipbuilding field, rather than applying these general-purpose production planning methodologies, in most cases, each shipyard has developed its own production planning system. This is because the applications of general-purpose production planning methods are limited due to the order-taking industry such as shipbuilding with highly complicated construction process consisting of millions of parts per ship. This study introduces the design and development of the production planning system reflecting the production environment of heavy shipyards in Korea. Since Korean shipyards such as Hyundai, Daewoo and Samsung build more than 10 ships per year (50-70 ships in the case of large shipyards), a planning system for the mixed production with complex construction processes is required. This study draws requirements using PI/BPR (process innovation and business process reengineering) methodology to develop a production planning system for shipyards that simultaneously build several ships. Then, CBD software development methodology was applied for the design and implementation of planning system with drawn requirements. It is expected that the systematic development procedure as well as the requirements and functional elements for the development of the shipyard production planning system introduced in this study will be able to present important guidelines in the related research field of shipbuilding management.

  • This research means that it analyzed the conflict structure of key stakeholders in the operation and management of the Regulation Free Zone. The analysis results are as follows. First, for the safety review related to the amendment of the law, the process of presenting a preliminary review opinion is additionally required. Second, institutional improvement is needed for the complicated preliminary preparation stage in the management system issue. Third, there is the issue of whether to provide an incentive structure to the local innovation ecosystem or to leave it to the autonomy of the participating companies and guarantee the choice in the post-management issue. In the future, this research suggests a method to systematically prepare a micro-policy demand identification process through continuous monitoring using the Q method.

  • The airline industry faces with significant competition due to the rise of technology innovation and diversified customer needs. Therefore, continuous quality management is essential to gain competitive advantages. For this reason, there have been various studies to measure and manage service quality using customer reviews. However, previous studies have focused on measuring customer satisfaction only, neglecting systematic management between customer expectations and perception based on customer reviews. In response, this study suggests a framework to identify relevant criteria for service quality management, measure the importance, and assess the customer perception based on customer reviews. Machine learning techniques, topic models, and sentiment analysis are used for this study. This study can be used as an important strategic tool for evaluating service quality by identifying important factors for airline customer satisfaction while presenting a framework for identifying each airline's current service level.

  • Modern company faces an uncertain future and a competitive environment and are seeking new technologies and creative products to ensure the corporate growth and survival in the market through continuous innovation. "University Industry Cooperation(UIC)" is a point of contact for overcoming the crisis faced by companies and universities in this era and a cooperation platform for mutual prosperity. As a subsidiary of a university, "Technology Holding Company(THC)" is attracting attention as a new window for UIC in Korea. The role of THC is to establish and foster the business opportunities of their subsidiaries and to return investment profits to the university ecosystem again. But recently, the life cycle of technology is getting shorter, and the development cost is steadily increasing. In particular, with the increase of hybrid projects based on convergence and combination, the risk of conducting research(R&D) and new product development(NPD) projects is gradually increasing. A PMO refers to a project management organization that can contribute to improving the success rate of projects with increasing uncertainty by supporting project visibility and appropriate decision-making. The purpose of this study is to raise a research question on whether THC's corporate performance can be improved when "Project Management System(PMO Service)" is introduced into the subsidiary incubation system of THC. This study proposes several research methods to identify the relationship between the introduction of PMO and the corporate performance of THC.

A Time Series Study on Management Efficiency of Public Institutions

  • This study aims to analyze the changes in the management efficiency of public institutions in time series, and to examine the relationship with financial performance based on the results of time series changes. Specifically, we classified into upper and lower groups of financial performance based on the government's management evaluation results, and analyze how the management efficiency of each group changed in the period before the evaluation year. Based on public institutions published in public business information system, DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) was performed for estimating management efficiency. The results are summarized as follows; First, we find that DEA of the upper group changed in the direction of increasing, but DEA of the lower group changed in the direction of decreasing. Second, we find that there is a significant positive relation between DEA and financial performance. This result means that the higher financial performance, the higher management efficiency. These findings imply that management efficiency can be a factor that improve financial performance in public institutions. The results also suggest that government's innovation strategies to improve financial stability by enhancing management efficiency were effective.

  • North Korean defectors are experiencing economic hardship due to the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak. In order to solve this problem, interest in starting a business is increasing. This study targeted the current and previous government, and discovered major topics through text mining of news data on North Korean defector starting a business to examine the start-up support policies according to the keynote of the present regime. Additionally, key factors for successful start-ups were derived through interviews with North Korean defectors who have done them. As a result of the analysis, it is necessary to focus on women and the youth, and to actively expand specialized entrepreneurship education and financial support for North Korean defectors. In addition, it was confirmed that there is a need for a practical and continuous entrepreneurship education program.

  • e-Commerce in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(SMEs) provides a platform for fair competition between SMEs and large enterprises, and brings economic benefits to SMEs. Thus in the recent years, the e-Commerce in SMEs developed rapidly. However, the overall proportion of e-Commerce in SMEs in China remains low, and many SMEs' decision-makers tend to feel that their business is relatively weak in terms of information construction of scale and financial management, thus they keep the 'wait and see' attitude about the e-Commerce development decisions. Therefore, SMEs are facing three puzzles about e-Commerce application. First, if the companies need to implement e-Commerce, what are the e-Commerce adoption decision factors. Second, what are the successful implementation factors of e-Commerce. And how about the relationship between them. The third is how to measure the implementation effect of e-Commerce. What is the performance evaluation factors of e-Commerce. In this paper, the theoretical and empirical exploration and research are conducted towards these SMEs. Considering the actual situation of SMEs, this paper builds a theoretical model, then puts forward relevant hypothesis. This paper analyzes present influencing factors based on enormous research papers, and finally discovers the critical successful factors in doing business with e-Commerce in SMEs by conducting Structural Equation Modeling. Five critical factors are verified by cases of enterprise by demonstration study. Lastly, we can draw a conclusion that the innovation ability of leaders, the IT support of leaders and e-Commerce strategies are the success factors of e-Commerce for Chinese SMEs.

  • The current development of digital platform-based online retail business leads to the rapid growth of freight demand and service innovation. With the demand for converged logistics technologies, our government supports R&D projects to innovate the logistics service. The digital platforms are developed based on their own standard process and data formats. It may cause interoperability and connectivity-related problems. In this research, the standard data flow to connect the data among systems is defined based on the standard process. Especially, data for connectivity is categorized into three groups, common data, connected data, and management data. It may be possible to enhance the applicability to the practical logistics business.

  • Nowadays PMIS (Project Management Information System) based on web is widely applied to communication, collaboration and community in construction jobsite for various organization such as subcontractors, general contractor, engineering company, supervisors and client. However, individual PMIS in jobsite is prone to be troublesome issue for integration and exchange of information regarding project management in corporate and may result in conflict of data application. The main reason should be lack of information strategy plan such as company master plan for information. This research shows a critical success factor that a big construction company of Korea establishes procedure and method for information strategy plan. In addition, It is to suggest how to be implemented PMIS architecture and execute business process innovation in corporate level. This research expects contribution that many construction companies reduce mistakes to be implemented management information system and to optimize system in corporate level.
