  • BIPV system is one of the best ways to harness PV module. The BIPV system not only produces electricity, but also acts as a building envelope. Thus, it has the strong point of increasing the economical efficiency by applying the PV modules to the buildings. Bifacial solar cells can convert solar energy to electrical energy from both sides of the module. In addition, it is designed as 3 busbar layout which is the same with ordinary mono-facial soalr cells. Therefore, many of the module manufacturers can easily produce the bifacial solar cells without changing their manufacturing equipment. Moreover, bifacial BIPV system has much potential in building application by utilizing glass to glass structure. However, the performance of bifacial solar cells depends on a variety of factors, ranging from the back surface to surrounding conditions. Therefore, in order to apply bifacial solar cells to buildings, an analysis of bifacial PV module performance should be carried out that includes a consideration of various design elements, and reflects a wide range of installation conditions. As a result it found that the white insulation reflector type can improve the performance of the bifacial BIPV system by 16%, compared to the black insulation reflector type. The performance of the bifacial BIPV was also shown to be influenced by inclination angle, due to changes in both the amount of radiation captured on the front face and the radiation transmitted to the rear face through the transparent space. In this study is limited design condition and installation condition. Accordingly follow-up researches in this part need to be conducted.

  • Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) system is a typical integrated system that simultaneously performs both building function and solar power generation function. To maximize its potential advantage, however, the solar photovoltaic power generation function must be integrated from the early conceptual design stage, and maximum power generation must be designed. To cope with such requirements, preliminary research on BIPV design process based on architectural design model and computer simulation results for improving solar power generation performance have been published. However, the requirements of the BIPV system have not been clearly identified and systematically reflected in the subsequent design. Moreover, no model has verified the power generation design. To solve these problems, we systematically model the requirements of BIPV system and study power generation design based on the system requirements model. Through the study, we consistently use the standard system modeling language, SysML. Specifically, stakeholder requirements were first identified from stakeholders and related BIPV standards. Then, based on the domain model, the design requirements of the BIPV system were derived at the system level, and the functional and physical architectures of the target system were created based on the system requirements. Finally, the power generation performance of the BIPV system was evaluated through a simulated SysML model (Parametric diagram). If the SysML system model developed herein can be reinforced by reflecting the conditions resulting from building design, it will open an opportunity to study and optimize the power generation in the BIPV system in an integrated fashion.

  • This paper is proposed cooling system of BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) by micro-controller. The output power of PV generation system is not systematically tracked and influenced by various factors; solar irradiance, solar cell temperature. The temperature of solar module should be minimized to increase electrical output. Therefore, it is proposed that micro-controller cools to decrease temperature of solar module using thermoelement. The validity of this paper is proved by comparing solar module temperature of cooling system and un-cooling system.

  • This paper presents the assesment of experimented data and estimated data for electrical and thermal performance evaluation of building integrated photovoltaic(BIPV) system of cold facade type. BIPV module is used to estimate the dependence of module temperature on irradiance, ambient temperature and indoor temperature. The module temperature of no free ventilated facade PV system is higher than cold facade PV system about 13.4$^{\circ}C$. By the results on simulation, the reduction of electrical power loss is 9.57% into cold facade according to free ventilation. The annual averaged PR of BIPV system into cold facade is about 73.1%.

  • The present study aims to determine the optimized shape for the maximum electric energy production of building integrated photovoltaic system (BIPV) noise barrier through numerical analysis. The shape of BIPV noise barrier is one of the important factors in determining angle difference between direction vector of the sun and normal vector of the sound barrier surface. This study simulated numerically the flow and thermal fields for different angles in the range from $90^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$, and from the results, the amount of isolation onto noise barrier surface was estimated along the angle between ground and top side of noise barrier. The commercial CFD code (Fluent V. 13.0) was used for calculation. It was found that the maximum amount of insolation per unit area was 19.6 MJ for $105^{\circ}$ case during a day in summer and was estimated 12.4 MJ in $150^{\circ}$ case during a day in winter. The results of the summer and winter cases showed the different tendency and this result would be useful in determining the appropriate shape of noise barrier which can be mounted under various circumstances.

  • Because silicon thin film solar cells have a high absorption coefficient in visible light, they can absorb 90% of the solar spectrum in a $1-{\mu}m$-thick layer. Silicon thin film solar cells also have high transparency and are lightweight. Therefore, they can be used for building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems. However, the contact electrode needs to be replaced for fabricating silicon thin film solar cells in BIPV systems, because most of the silicon thin film solar cells use metal electrodes that have a high reflectivity and low transmittance. In this study, we replace the conventional aluminum top electrode with a transparent aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) electrode, the band level of which matches well with that of the intrinsic layer of the silicon thin film solar cell and has high transmittance. We show that the AZO effectively replaces the top metal electrode and the bottom fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate without a noticeable degradation of the photovoltaic characteristics.
