A study on the brilliance by critical angle of gem and measurement theory of refractive index using refractometer (보석의 임계각에 따른 휘광성 및 굴절계를 이용한 굴절률 측정 이론에 관한 연구)

  • Critical angle of quartz (R.I. ${\fallingdotseq}$ 1.553) and diamond (R.I. = 2.417) are $40.09^{\circ}$ and $24.26^{\circ}$ that calculated by $sin{\theta}=r_2/r_1$ (r = refractive index, $r_1$ > $r_2$). Brilliance of quartz and diamond are 20.33% and 55.07%. The brilliance data are result of study on the incident light internal round brilliant cut quartz and diamond by the critical angle. Cause of bow-tie phenomenon can be studied by application of critical angle theory and light path inside fancy shape brilliant cut. When refractormetry with typical gem refractometer, critical angle of quartz and corundum are $59.1^{\circ}$ and $77.9^{\circ}$.

Comparative Evaluation of Selective Chromogenic Media for Coliforms Bacteria Isolated from Food (식품 유래 대장균군의 발색 배지 분리 효율 비교)

  • In this study, the performance of five selective media for coliform bacteria was evaluated. In total, 83 coliform isolates from ready-to-eat food and 21 reference strains were inoculated in five agar media : Chromocult coliform agar (Merck Millipore), HiCrome coliform agar (Sigma), CHROMagar ECC chromogenic media, Brilliance E. coli/coliform selective agar (OXOID), and endo agar (Merck Millipore). Coliform isolates and reference strains were inoculated on the selective media to test media sensitivity and specificity. The tested media showed the following sensitivities for the isolated strains: Chromocult coliforms agar and HiCrome coliform agar, 94%; Brilliance E. coli/coliform selective agar, 93%; CHROMagar ECC chromogenic media, 92%; and endo agar, 74%. In addition, all media showed 100% specificity, except for endo agar (71%). Moreover Chromocult coliform agar and HICrome coliform agar showed high levels recovery. Taken together, these results identified Chromocult coliform agar and HICrome coliform agar as an effective selective medium for coliforms with higher sensitivity and specificity compared to other media tested in this study.

Decoration Culture resident in Contemporary Japanese Fashion (현대 일본패션에 내재한 꾸밈 미학)

  • The purpose of this study is to search the spiritual root of decoration and anti-decoration culture in contemporary Japanese fashion and find the aesthetic meanings of the decoration culture inside contemporary Japanese fashion. The contents of this study are 1. surveying the historical change about the aesthetic sense of Japan. decoration culture 2. deducing the distinctive aesthetic ideology from the decoration culture 3. finding esthetically the inside meaning of 1.2. in contemporary Japanese fashion. First, the origin of decoration culture was concerned with the belief in the life after death of the Buddhism culture to represent the noble society of the Heian(평안) period and the religion of paradise after the Middle Ages. Second. this decoration culture based on two aesthetic ideologies, beautiful(염) aesthetics and lofty(숭고) aesthetics. The beautiful aesthetics implies words, such as bewitchment, elegance, dignity and brilliance which stand for the sensual pleasure and the eroticism. The lofty aesthetics that was introduced by TakeTakasi(장고) during the Heian period, had the meaning of magnificence, greatness and dignity. This could be recognized as the Confucianism ideas. Third, as the beautiful aesthetics that was the representative aesthetic ideology of the decoration culture, it was related to splendid and decorative designs, and was recognized as the beauty of brilliance and coquetry. The beauty of brilliance, as a decorative element, appeared in patterns of the traditional costume and dyeing as well as the beauty of coquetry indicated that the women's fashion in Japan had soft, feminine, and cute images, called Hawaii, by using various decorations, such as feminine details, flower patterns. ruffles. ribbons and so on. TakeTakasi's lofty aesthetics applied the beauty of exaggeration to every art form. It has influenced the form exaggeration by overlapping in traditional costumes as well as the 1970s big look and layered look in Europe fashion. Issey Miyake and Takeda Kenzo introduced the decorative play, such as transformation and a distortion, which considered refinement, bluff, and oddity of the Japanese decoration art.

Study of evacuation fire doors in multiple facilities (다중이용시설의 피난방화문에 관한 연구)

  • Evacuation fire doors were manufactured by applying phosphorescent paint to the whole fire door whose performance was already recognized, and applying heat sensitive paint around the grip. The facility was improved by the evacuation and safety functions on the fire door, which has been used as only a fire facility, and the fire door is also used as an evacuation facility. The brilliance of the evacuation safety fire door manufactured in this study passed the brilliance test of Korea Fire Institute with a performance more than the brilliance (7mcd after 60 minutes) of the existing inducement sign. During a fire, the visible area is larger than the evacuation door inducement, etc. and light preventive status in the lower part of the fire door was observed during the descent of smoke. Therefore, it is considered to extend the evacuation effective time of evacuators. In heat sensitive paint applied around the grip, a color change is observed on the fire door when approaching a certain temperature ($70^{\circ}C$). Therefore, the first disaster that evacuators can encounter on the grip of a fire door during a fire can be prevented and should be helpful in recognizing the backfiring possibility and preventing safety accidents for firefighters who must enter a fire space.

  • It is crucial to a musical artist whether or not they have a musical identity. Major entertainment companies of Korea are strongly promoting a cultural product called 'Idol', where musical identity and musicianship are not important, with careful production and capital. It is important to take note of Prince, who remains to show clearly his philosophy and identity, in the state where lack of musical identity is being promoted. Many studies done on his musical brilliance and uniqueness can be a great incentive to rethink on the nature of music. As an arranger, Prince used tension notes effectively and even showed that avoid notes can be used to express a musical color. Studies on his musical brilliance and uniqueness must continue to be done and become an incentive to not just people who study music but for everyone to rethink the nature of music. There is no correct answer to music, but art has to be the essence of its nature.

Types and Formative Characteristics of Seon Expressed in the Costume of Chinese Song(宋) Dynasty (송대(宋代) 복식에 표현된 선의 유형과 조형특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate Seon expressed in the costume of Chinese Song. For the purpose, this researcher classified types of Seon, found in the Chinese costume, in terms of composition method, decorative technique and used materials. In addition, the researcher attempted to analyze formative characteristics of Sean in accordance with the range and post of use, pattern and color combination. Seon expressed in the costume of Chinese Song can be classified into standard, decoration, application and Buseon in type. When the typical distribution of Seon expressed in the costume of Chinese Song, standard type was highest in percentage, especially different color type. Looking at the range of use, Seon was mainly used for outfits, especially Jikcheol(直?) and Hakchangeui for men and Baeja(背子) for women. Looking at the post of use, Seon was mainly used to edges of costume and sometimes also to seams. In regard to materials of Seon, they were selectively used depending on the existence or non-existence, size and brilliance or non-brilliance of pattern employed in the texture of Seon. The most commonly used pattern of Seon was single-type pattern, especially the pattern of plant. Pattern arrangement was most often filling in type. Concerning the color combination of Seon, men's dress most often used black-white combination, followed by different color combination while, women's dress most often employed complementary color combination, followed by different color combination.

  • The textile wastewater discharged from printing and dyeing processes is characterized by high chemical oxygen demand(COD), low biochemical oxygen demand(BOD), and heavy color. The release of dyes into the environment constitutes only small proportion of water pollution, but dyes are visible in small quantities due to their brilliance. In this study, We are investigated to optimization of Ozone Oxidation process for Decolorization.

  • This study aims to investigate the method to reduce the surface temperature caused by insolation. To achieve this goal, surface temperature of building is measured and the effects of exterior material's color and brilliance were checked with infrared imaging. And also, exterior material's absorptances due to outdoor surface heat transfer coefficients were measured. After surface temperature measurement of 37 specimen of 5 categories, the temperature is the highest on wood($53.62^{\circ}C$) and panel($52.05^{\circ}C$). Dryvit, stone, brick is the rating of order. For exterior material's absorptances, panel(0.883) and wood(0.868) were high and Dryvit, stone, brick follows wood and panel.

  • Most games based on PCs or consoles at present show vivid special effects and brilliance sceneries. However, the other games running on mobiles and portable devices can not show magnificent scenes because of low hardware specifications such as slow CPU, old graphics card and battery capacity. These games relatively prefer light and casual contents that do not need tremendous calculation. It is very important to keep minimum of game graphics quality in those games. Thus this research presents the new possibility of variable indexed color palettes to overcome the low hardware capacities.

  • Heat shock protein gp96 is an endoplasmic reticulum chaperone, belonging to the HSP90 family. The function of gp96 as a molecular chaperone was discovered more than 10 years ago, but its importance has been overshadowed by the brilliance of its role in immune responses. It is now clear that gp96 is instrumental in the initiation of both the innate and adaptive immunity. Recently, the roles of gp96 in protein homeostasis, as well as in cell differentiation and development, are beginning to draw more attention due to rapid development in the structural study of HSP90 and some surprising new discoveries from genetic studies of gp96. In this review, we focus on the aspect of gp96 as an ER molecular chaperone in protein maturation, peptide binding and the regulation of its activity.
