  • This study proposes web-based authoring system for the lecturers who published textbooks by inserting external open resource. When lecturer publishes textbooks, the system makes it easier to utilize external resources by providing an open resource pool that the lecturer can search not only his own resources but external resources. In addition, we designed an open resource pool based on Original Contents Tracing Model to check whether the scrapped resource is changed or not in the future. Open Resource Pool allows inserting text, images and videos by searching multimedia, and stores metadata for the follow-up management. We made the system to determine the change of the resource using the metadata stored in the tracking system. Through this research, we confirmed that it is possible to publish textbooks by utilizing a variety of open resources on the web and revise the book by tracing the scrapped resources.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of supermodern fashion designer's work, which is shown by responding to supermodern environment where non-spaces such as road, railroad and airport are surplus in modern city environment. For the study, the researcher used existing study and specialized book basically and analyzed photograph materials by selecting them in specialized fashion book, internet site and designer's homepage. The results of this study showed that supermodern fashion design is the functional fashion responding to the change of time and space concept of supermodern society directly. As the common points of supermodern designer's works, first, they try to create private space enabling wearer to cope with risk caused by the environmental change and transitional space by adding architectural factor to fashion. Second, they display the design with protective function and metaphorical expression of concealment and deception in the supermodern environment where nonspace is increasing. Third, designers search the functional design from the aspect of fabric and detail while intending the technology in order to cope with supermodern environment.

  • Nowdays, people who want to lend books in library have to use book-searching system in university homepage in Internet. After then, they must search signature, author and theme in order taking the book number. This kinks of lending procedure is true to take a long time for users who go to library from time to time to find books what they need directly so that they cannot help wasting time. On this thesis, the information system which provides the location of books is visualized in order to decrease inconvenience.

  • In this paper, we propose a voice-annotation browsing system that make the reading-disabled people to be able to find and play the existing voice-annotations. The proposed system consists of 4 steps: input, ranking & recommendation, search, and output. For the reading-disabled people depending only on the auditory sense, all steps can accept voice commands. To evaluate the effectiveness of our system, we design and implement an android-based mobile e-book application supporting the voice-annotation browsing ability. The implemented system is tested by a number of blind-folded users. As a result, we can see almost all the reading-disabled people can successfully and easily reach the existing voice-annotations they want to find.

  • This study attempted to propose various application and function improvement plans by analyzing robots operated in the libraries. Thus, the types and functions of robots operated by 16 domestic and foreign libraries were examined. Most of them were used for Librarian Assistance (Book Inventory, Book Delivery, Etc.) and User Service (Facility Guide, Search Aids, Etc.). Besides, the introduction of robots in the National Library of Korea (NLK) and their functional limitations were analyzed. As a result, this study presented the need to develop additional functions for the robot, develop quarantine and security robots, the need for a national-level policy for robot diffusion, and build a robot ecosystem.

  • Existing character recognition algorithm recognize characters in simple conditional. It has the disadvantage that recognition rates often drop drastically when input document image has low quality, rotated text, various font or size text because of external noise or data loss. In this paper, proposes the optical character recognition algorithm which using bicubic interpolation method for the catalog retrieval when the input image has rotated text, blurred, various font and size. In this paper, applied optical character recognition algorithm consist of detection and recognition part. Detection part applied roberts and hausdorff distance algorithm for correct detection the catalog of book. Recognition part applied bicubic interpolation to interpolate data loss due to low quality, various font and size text. By the next time, applied rotation for the bicubic interpolation result image to slant proofreading. Experimental results show that proposal method can effectively improve recognition rate 6% and search-time 1.077s process result.

  • Captured motion data is widely used today in a variety of areas including film production, game development, sports analysis, and medical rehabilitation. The ability of analyzing and processing motion data has increased rapidly for last decades. However, it is still difficult for users to quickly understand the contents of motion data consisting of a series of time-varying poses. One typical approach is to visualize consecutive poses in sequence while adjusting three-dimensional view, which is often time-consuming and laborious especially when users need to repeatedly control time and view in order to search for desired motions. We present a method of visualizing motion data as a sequence of images in comic book layout so that users can rapidly understand the overall flows of motion data, and easily identify their desired motions. The usefulness of our approach is demonstrated by visualizing various kinds of motion data including locomotion, boxing, and interaction with environments.

  • This study aims to discover how three-year-old children to search for existence and its meaning, while they participate a programme, 'discourse among children through books' as a way of resolving curiosities. Data were collected between April 2, September 10, 2010 and the collected data included teacher's class records, pictures, discussion notes and interview materials. The results showed that 'discourse among children through books' follows steps in a process. The steps include: Deciding a topic that children should search for, choosing an appropriate book to resolve children's curiosities, spending some time for discoursing among children by using pictures in the book, and sharing what they had understood. Through this process, a pre-school teacher met with children who were full of abilities, ideas and motivation to explore with a little assistance. The pre-school teacher was able to overcome preconceived ideas that informational books could be difficult for children, and experienced various lessons, while the children led their own learning. It represents that the activity, 'discourse among children through books' can be a children centered inquiry learning teaching strategy, because the informational books ensure that the children gain knowledge and are actively in cogitation.

  • The world is focusing on e-books as the e-book market is growing rapidly as a fused industry at the crossroads of information technology and digital content. Many countries are actively participating in this new market and leveraging on its potential and growth, while Korea's market is still in its preliminary stage. There is a good reason to be concerned over the fact that access to digitalized materials that are the most relevant to the current time are not readily available. Therefore, the strategy in collecting and utilizing content must be newly refurbished. In order to do this, the legal issues and policies related to digital libraries must be considered. The most relevant examples from abroad are Google Book Search and the EU's Europeana project. Then, what are the necessary measures for Korea to materialize its own digital library? Digital libraries can significantly influence social welfare and bring forth economic effects. Social preparation surrounding this subject should continue to increase because digital libraries will change the manner in which people share and use information. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the legal and economic problems and issues related to the establishment of digital libraries as well as to provide policy recommendations.

  • Purpose: The remarkable progress in information and communication technology has had a great effect on the healthcare delivery system. The development of smart phone applications is a new field. The aim of our research was to provide assistance in developing smart phone applications for community health nursing. Methods: Based on an informative approach, this study developed persona and site maps, followed by a storyboard as a way of analyzing users' requirements and designing responses in the context of smart phone application development methodology. Results: We developed persona, user interface and database design successfully, and then seven nurses selected four nursing problems (income, residence, pain, and digestion hydration). The search time in seconds for the 2005 English OMAHA guidelines to find three nursing interventions for these problems was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the smart phone application. The results showed that smart phone applications' search was 21 times faster on the average than book guidelines. Conclusion: An English version of the OMAHA system application was developed for the Android smart phone market. It is hoped that smart phone applications such as this will be used internationally for nursing education.
