  • We prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of generalized Jensen's functional equations in Banach modules over a unital $C^{*}$-algebra. It is applied to show the stability of algebra homomorphisms between Banach algebras associated with generalized Jensen's functional equations in Banach algebras.

  • In this paper, we first consider the existence and regularity of solutions of the semilinear control system under natural assumptions such as the local Lipschtiz continuity of nonlinear term. Thereafter, we will also establish the approximate controllability for the equation when the corresponding linear system is approximately controllable.

  • An extrapolated Crank-Nicolson characteristic finite element method is introduced for approximate solutions of nonlinear Sobolev equations with a convection term. And we obtain the higher order of convergence for approximate solutions in the temporal and the spatial directions with respect to $L^2$ norm.

  • We consider a model of population dynamics whose mortality function is unbounded. We note that the regularity of the solution depends on the growth rate of the mortality near the maximum age. We propose Gauss-Legendre methods along the characteristics to approximate the solution when the solution is smooth enough. It is proven that the scheme is convergent at fourth-order rate in the maximum norm. We also propose discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods to approximate the solution which is not smooth enough. The stability of the method is discussed. Several numerical examples are presented.

  • Approximate analysis for a building installed with a friction damper is revisited to get insight of its dynamic behavior. Energy balance equation is used to have a closed analytical form solution of dynamic magnification factor (DMF) for the building with combined viscous and friction damping. It is found out that DMF is dependent on friction force ratio and resonance frequency. Linear transfer function from input external force to output building displacement is obtained by simplifying DMF equation. Root mean square of building displacement is derived under earthquake-like random excitation. Finally, design of friction damper is proposed by processing target control ratio, damping ratio factor, and friction force in sequence.

  • The statistical testing methods have been widely recognized to determine the plain and cipher texts. In fact, the randomness for a sequence from an encryption algorithm is necessary to guarantee security and reliance of cipher algorithm. Thus, the statistical randomness tests are used to discover cipher text. In this paper, we would provide the critical value for an approximate entropy test by estimating the nonlinear regression equation when the number of sequence and the level of significance are given. Thus, we can discern plan and cipher text for real problem with given number of sequence and the level of significance. Also, we confirm the fitness of the estimated critical values from the rate of success for plain or cipher text.

  • For the accelerated failure time (AFT) model a lot of effort has been devoted to develop effective estimation methods. AFT model assumes a linear relationship between the logarithm of event time and covariates. In this paper we propose a semiparametric support vector machine to consider situations where the functional form of the effect of one or more covariates is unknown. The proposed estimating equation can be computed by a quadratic programming and a linear equation. We study the effect of several covariates on a censored response variable with an unknown probability distribution. We also provide a generalized approximate cross-validation method for choosing the hyper-parameters which affect the performance of the proposed approach. The proposed method is evaluated through simulations using the artificial example.

  • In this paper, we find the approximate solution of a second order nonlinear partial differential equation on a simple connected region in $R^2$. We transfer this problem to a new problem of second order nonlinear partial differential equation on a rectangle. Then, we transformed the later one to an equivalent optimization problem. Then we consider the optimization problem as a distributed parameter system with artificial controls. Finally, by using the theory of measure, we obtain the approximate solution of the original problem. In this paper also the global error in $L_1$ is controlled.

  • A compressible two-fluid two-phase flow computation model using the stiffened-gas equation of state is formulated. Since the conservation equation system is of mixed type, it gives complex eigenvalues. The sonic speeds obtained from the individual single phase have been simply used in the literature for the fastest wave speeds necessary in the HLL scheme. This method has worked fine but proved to be quite diffusive according to our test. To improve the accuracy, we here propose to utilize the analytic eigenvalues evaluated from an approximate Jacobian matrix lot the fastest wave speeds. The interfacial transfer terms were dropped in constituting the Jacobian matrix for this purpose. The present scheme proved efficient, robust and accurate in comparison with other existing methods. We solved the cavitating flow problem using the present scheme. The result shows more detailed wave structure in the cavitating process caused by the strong expansion waves.

  • The natural period calculation equations specified in the current building code are empirical formulas that depend on height and material type of the structure. Building with the upper wall and lower frame type is a unique structure which composed of two different structural system This type of structure needs either the deep transfer girder or the thick transfer plate that brings the sudden change of stiffness and mass. Therefore the natural period equations recommended by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamci analysis is compared with that of various codes. Ad approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended. by the current code can not be applied directly.
