This paper addresses the product shape modification for spring-back reduction in the sheet metal forming process of the cabin sunroof which is applied to the construction equipment. Initially, the anisotropic material properties are measured in order to calculate the degree of spring-back by the numerical simulation of the sheet metal forming process. To reduce the spring-back of the stamped part, several design modifications are suggested according to the geometrical bead arrangement on the planar region. The degrees of spring-back are confirmed for various product designs with different use of the geometrical bead. Finally, the spring-back improvement was validated by manufacturing the tryout product with the modified die set for the optimized product shape.
This study analyzed the mechanical behavior of lithium-ion battery pouch material and predicted its formability. A homogenization method was used to evaluate the physical properties of the pouch, and a new hardening model was developed. The yield function for the plastic model was optimized, and the anisotropic property was determined. Also, the forming limits were measured and predicted using the M-K forming limit diagram. Finally, a square cup drawing experiment confirmed the accuracy of the measured mechanical properties and the formability calculation.
The radial mapping rule in bounding surface model was experimentally investigated by analyzing the drained stress probe tests on Chicago clays. The experimental data obtained from 10 drained stress probe paths were analyzed to calculate the directions of the plastic strain increments. The anisotropic bounding surface model was adopted to represent a bounding yield surface which resides in the pre-consolidation yield stress of undisturbed clays. The projection origins were estimated by finding the interceptions of the straight lines passing through the current stress point and the imaginary yield stress point on the bounding surface. The results show that the projection origin is not fixed at a point but moves toward the direction of the stress probe path after it is established around the initial stress point.
Concrete contains numerous microcracks at initially poured. The growth and propagation of
nicrockacsk are believed tc finally incur the faiure of concrete. These processings are understood
as a damage. Damage IS represented as a second-order tensor and crack is treated as a con
tinuum phenomenon. In this paper, damage is characterized through the effective stress concept
together with the hypothesis of elastic energy equivalence, and damage evolution law and
constitutive equation of a damage model are derived by using the Helmholtz frte eriergy and the
dissipation potential by means of the thermodynamic principles. The constitutive equation of the
model includes the effects of elasticity, anisotropic damage and plasticity of concrete. There are
two effective tangent stiffness tensors in this model : one is for elastic-darnage and the other for
plastic damage. For the verification of the model, finite element analysis was performed for the
analysis of concrete subjec:t to uniaxial and biaxial loading and the results obtained were
compared with test results.

Springback is a common phenomenon in sheet metal forming, caused by the elastic recovery of the internal stresses after removal of the tooling. Recently, advanced high strength steels (AHSS) such as TRIP and DP are finding acceptance in the automotive industry because their superior strength to weight ratio can lead to improved fuel efficiency and assessed crashworthiness of vehicles. The major troubles of the automotive structural members stamped with high strength steel sheets are the tendency of the large amount of springback due to the high yield strength and the tensile strength. The amount of springback is mainly influenced by the type of the yield function and anisotropic model induced by rolling. The discrepancy of the deep drawn product comparing the data of from the product design induced by springback must be compensated at the tool design stage in order to guarantee its function and assembly with other parts. The methodology of compensation of the low shape accuracy induced by large amount of springback is developed by the expert engineer in the industry. Recently, the numerical analysis is introduced in order to predict the amount of springback and to improve the shape accuracy prior to tryout stage of press working. In this paper, the tendency of springback is evaluated with respect to the blank material. The stamping process is analyzed fur the front side member formed with AHSS sheets such as TRIP60 and DP60. The analysis procedure fully covers the binderwrap, stamping, trimming and springback process with the commercial elasto-plastic finite element code LS-DYNA3D.

The paper represents computer modeling of the deformed state of physically nonlinear transversally isotropic bodies with hole. In order to describe the anisotropy of the mechanical properties of transversally-isotropic materials a structurally phenomenological model has been used. This model allows representing the initial material in the form of the coupled isotropic materials: the basic material (binder) considered from the positions of continuum mechanics and the fiber material oriented along the anisotropy direction of the original material. It is assumed that the fibers perceive only the axial tensile-compression forces and are deformed together with the base material. To solve the problems of the theory of plasticity, simplified theories of small elastoplastic deformation have been used for a transversely-isotropic body, developed by B.E. Pobedrya. A simplified theory allows applying the theory of small elastoplastic deformations to solve specific applied problems, since in this case the fibrous medium is replaced by an equivalent transversely isotropic medium with effective mechanical parameters. The essence of simplification is that with simple stretching of composite in direction of the transversal isotropy axis and in direction perpendicular to it, plastic deformations do not arise. As a result, the intensity of stresses and deformations both along the principal axis of the transversal isotropy and along the perpendicular plane of isotropy is determined separately. The representation of the fibrous composite in the form of a homogeneous anisotropic material with effective mechanical parameters allows for a sufficiently accurate calculation of stresses and strains. The calculation is carried out under different loading conditions, keeping in mind that both sizes characterizing the fibrous material fiber thickness and the gap between the fibers-are several orders smaller than the radius of the hole. Based on the simplified theory and the finite element method, a computer model of nonlinear deformation of fibrous composites is constructed. For carrying out computational experiments, a specialized software package was developed. The effect of hole configuration on the distribution of deformation and stress fields in the vicinity of concentrators was investigated.

The paper presents quasi-static numerical simulations of the behaviour of short reinforced concrete beams without shear reinforcement under mixed shear-tension failure using the FEM and four various constitutive continuum models for concrete. First, an isotropic elasto-plastic model with a Drucker-Prager criterion defined in compression and with a Rankine criterion defined in tension was used. Next, an anisotropic smeared crack and isotropic damage model were applied. Finally, an elasto-plastic-damage model was used. To ensure mesh-independent FE results, to describe strain localization in concrete and to capture a deterministic size effect, all models were enhanced in a softening regime by a characteristic length of micro-structure by means of a non-local theory. Bond-slip between concrete and reinforcement was considered. The numerical results were directly compared with the corresponding laboratory tests performed by Walraven and Lehwalter (1994). The advantages and disadvantages of enhanced models to model the reinforced concrete behaviour were outlined.

In this paper, tensile test was performed on pure titanium sheet (CP Ti sheet) with HCP structure in each direction to evaluate mechanical and surface properties and analyze microstructural changes during plastic deformation. We also evaluated forming limits of Ti direction in dome-type punch stretching test using a non-contact three-dimensional optical measurement system. As a result, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet has strong anisotropic property in yield stress, stress-strain curve and anisotropy coefficient according to direction. It was revealed that twinning occurred when the pure titanium sheet was plastic deformed, and tendency depends differently on direction and deformation mode. Moreover, this seems to affect the physical properties and deformation of the material. In addition, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet had different surface roughness changes in 0 degree direction and 90 degree direction due to large difference of anisotropy, and this affects the forming limit. It was revealed the forming limit of each direction obtained through the punch stretching test gave higher value in 90 degree direction compared with forming limit in 0 degree direction.
The three dimensional geometries of an aluminum open cell foam before and after uniaxial compressive loading were investigated using the X-ray micro CT(computed tomography). Aluminum 6101-T6 open cell foams of 10, 20, 40 ppi (pore per inch) were considered in this work. After the serial sectioning CT images of aluminum foams were obtained from non-destructive X-ray images, the exact 3D structure were reproduced and visualized with commercial image processing program. The relative density ratio was around the 7.0 to 9.0 range, the unit cells showed anisotropic shapes having the different dimensional ratios of 1.1 to 1.3 between the rise and the transverse directions. The yield stress increased with the relative density ratio and the volumetric strain increased proportionally with compressive strain. The plateau stress in the compressive stress-strain curve was caused by the buckling of ligaments.
The current study examines the effect of the analytical parameter values on the theoretical forming limit diagram (FLD) based on the Marciniak-Kuczynski model (M-K model). Tensile tests were performed to obtain stress-strain curves and determine the anisotropic properties in the rolling, transverse and diagonal direction of SPCC sheet materials. The experimental forming limit curve for SPCC sheet material was obtained by limiting dome stretching tests. To predict the theoretical FLD based on the M-K model, the Hosford 79 yield function was employed. The effects of three analytical parameters - the exponent of the yield function, the initial imperfection parameter and the fracture criterion parameter - on the M-K model, were examined and the results of the theoretical FLD were compared to the experimentally measured FLD. It was found that the various analytical parameters should be carefully considered to reasonably predict the theoretical FLD. The comparison of the acceptable forming limit area between the theoretical and experimental FLD is used to compare the two diagrams.
