As an essential means to the exploitation of new demands, the export of agri-food has the price-supporting effect on the domestic agri-food and its expansion can be a good way to increase farms' income. Of course, to enhance farms' income under the liberalization of the market, it is necessary to have countermeasures considering various factors. To this end, the study understood the experiences of farms doing exports and looked into ways to improve them by reviewing their motivations to export, difficulties, requirements, etc. In this context, the study conducted the purposive sampling among tomato export farmhouses in Jeongseon-gun in the export enforcement phase and executed the theme analysis. The research findings and suggestions are as follows. First, in order to enhance the level of commercialization of Jeongseon-gun tomatoes and reinforce the trade bargaining power, it is necessary to form the consensus on policy and make the scaling of the site based on the strong organization power. To this end, it requires the active role of agricultural cooperatives that take a big portion of distribution in the site and distribute its profits directly to farmhouses. Second, it is necessary to set clear target markets for Jeongseon-gun tomato export farms and set sales strategies for each target market. That is, in order to expand the export of Jeongseon-gun tomatoes, after clarifying local sales and export sales, export farmhouses should focus on quality management and secure the quantity for export. Third, to expand the export to Japan which already has the foundation for the export of Korean tomatoes, and to new export countries of China, Russia, etc., it is necessary to set the 'Two-Track Strategies for Export Market (particular item for focus and particular area for focus)' through the building of network of tomato export areas in Gangwon-do. In conclusion, to expand the export of Jeongseon-gun tomatoes, agricultural cooperatives and leaders together should build the strong organizational power with farmhouses and secure the quantities for export. And, according to the 'Two-Track Strategies for Export Market (particular item for focus and particular area for focus)', export infrastructure and export operational system should be built and to do so, the solidarity of tomato export farmhouses in Gangwon area should precede.

Since Metcalfa pruinosa was first reported in Koera, it has continually caused damage to sweet persimmon orchard in southern part of Korea. Metcafa pruinosa exist not only in farmland but also in forest areas, and are difficult to control due to the influx of individuals from near forest. M. pruinosa has been occurred in orchard and its surroundings because of various host range. Thus, it has been difficult to decide spatial range and control time for efficient management. In this study, occurrence and dispersal pattern of M. pruinosa in persimmon orchard were surveyed using clear sticky traps, and spatial patterns were analyzed with SADIE(Spatial Analysis by Distance IndicEs), based on location information at sticky traps. Spatial association between survey time was also analyzed to identify when the spatial pattern changed. In sweet persimmon orchard, M. pruinosa mainly dispersed in mid to late May, when the first instar hatches, and in August, emerging season of adult. The first instar nymphs hatched in mid-May were randomly distributed in orchard, but distribution was changed to aggregative pattern after dispersed surroundings of orchard. Adults showed random distribution pattern after immigration to orchard again. These tendency was also observed in density change at orchard and its surroundings, and matched to actual density of M. pruinosa in sweet persimmon trees.

Currently, our country has promoted sustainable growth in agriculture field by expanding the growth engine which is going to creat new value through agrifood industry & ICT convergence, the deployment of computerization in rural areas and the efficiency increase of agricultural administration system. Since the level of domestic agriculture-ICT convergence technology focusing on production areas is at early stage, it is necessary to deploy the successful models through the systematic development of technology and standardization including production, distribution and consumption phase. In addition, because the management and control systems of large glass greenhouse are mostly foreign products with no standardization and related small domestic companies, there is a limit to agri-food & ICT convergence activation led by the agri-food private sector. Also, it is vital to increase productivity & efficiency and improve quality throughout the entire agricultural process including production, distribution and consumption by the fusion of information technology, automatic control technology and unique ICT on existing agricultural technology, Therefore, in this paper we propose the agricultural-ICT convergence technology fields in which our country can lead technology and the standardization plans through analyzing the development, policy and standardization trends on agricultural-ICT convergence technology.

Two trials were conducted to investigate the effect of decreasing the crude protein (CP) content of diets for finishing pigs containing two levels of available lysine on nutrient digestibility, nitrogen (N) balance and production performance. Ten finishing diets containing five levels of CP (on average 144, 155, 168, 182 and 193 g/kg fresh basis) and two levels of available lysine (6.9 and 8.2 g/kg fresh basis) were formulated. The diets were offered to pigs on a performance trial (n = 800 Large White (LW)${\times}$Landrace (LR) pigs) from 10 wk of age until finish at 21 wks+5 d of age. Average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were calculated. In addition, a digestibility/N balance trial was conducted using pigs (n = 80 $LW{\times}LR$) housed in metabolism crates. Digestibility of dry matter (DM), CP, oil, fibre and energy was determined. N balance values were determined through analysis of N content of urine and faeces ('as determined'). N balance values were also calculated using ADG values and assuming that 16% of growth is protein deposition ("as calculated"). Pig performance was poor between 10 and 13 wk of age which indicated that the dietary treatments were nutritionally inadequate for pigs less than 40 kg. There was a significant (p<0.01) quadratic effect of increasing CP level on feed intake, ADG and FCR from 10 to 13 wk which indicated that the lower CP levels did not supply adequate levels of essential or non-essential amino acids. There was no effect of increasing available lysine level throughout the early period, which in conjunction with the response in older pigs, suggested that both 8.2 and 6.9 g/kg available lysine were insufficient to drive optimum growth. There was a positive response (p<0.05) to increasing available lysine level from 13 wk to finish which indicated that 6.9 g/kg available lysine was not adequate for finishing pigs. Energy digestibility decreased with decreasing CP level of diets containing 6.9 g/kg available lysine which may be attributed to the higher fibre content of the lower CP diets. Nitrogen excretion (g/d) was lowered when dietary CP was reduced regardless of whether the values were determined through balance or calculated using ADG. Calculated N excretion decreased linearly (p<0.001) and quadratically (p<0.001) with decreasing dietary CP content. When the N balance figures calculated in this study were compared with those quoted in the Northern Ireland and English Nitrates Directive Action Programmes, N excretion was less per pig (wean to finish) offered a 169 g/kg CP, 8.2 g/kg available lysine diet (2.39 kg vs 3.41 kg (Northern Ireland) and 2.93 kg (England)).
Objective: The objectives were to assess the effects of purified lignin from wheat straw (sodium hydroxide dehydrated lignin; SHDL) on in vitro ruminal fermentation and on the growth performance of feedlot cattle. Methods: In vitro experiments were conducted by incubating a timothy-alfalfa (50:50) forage mixture (48 h) and barley grain (24 h) with 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg/mL of rumen fluid (equivalent to 0, 2, 4, 8, and 16 g SHDL/kg diet). Productions of $CH_4$ and total gas, volatile fatty acids, ammonia, dry matter (DM) disappearance (DMD) and digestion of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) or starch were measured. Sixty Hereford-Angus cross weaned steer calves were individually fed a typical barley silage-barley grain based total mixed ration and supplemented with SHDL at 0, 4, 8, and 16 g/kg DM for 70 (growing), 28 (transition), and 121 d (finishing) period. Cattle were slaughtered at the end of the experiment and carcass traits were assessed. Results: With forage, SHDL linearly (p<0.001) reduced 48-h in vitro DMD from 54.9% to 39.2%, NDF disappearance from 34.1% to 18.6% and the acetate: propionate ratio from 2.56 to 2.41, but linearly (p<0.001) increased $CH_4$ production from 9.5 to 12.4 mL/100 mg DMD. With barley grain, SHDL linearly increased (p<0.001) 24-h DMD from74.6% to 84.5%, but linearly (p<0.001) reduced $CH_4$ production from 5.6 to 4.2 mL/100 mg DMD and $NH_3$ accumulation from 9.15 to $4.49{\mu}mol/mL$. Supplementation of SHDL did not affect growth, but tended (p = 0.10) to linearly reduce feed intake, and quadratically increased (p = 0.059) feed efficiency during the finishing period. Addition of SHDL also tended (p = 0.098) to linearly increase the saleable meat yield of the carcass from 52.5% to 55.7%. Conclusion: Purified lignin used as feed additive has potential to improve feed efficiency for finishing feedlot cattle and carcass quality.
The social media data and the broadcasting data related to onion as well as agri-food consumer panel data were collected and investigated if the amount of money spent to purchase onion in year 2014 when onion price plunged latest were correlated with the frequencies of onion-related keywords in the social media data and the broadcasting programs because onion price in year 2018 is expected to plunge due to overproduction and there has been needs to analyze impacts of social media and broadcasting program on onion purchase in the previous similar events, and identify potential factors that can promote onion consumption in advance. What we identified from our study include a) broadcasting news programs mentioning words "onion," were correlated with onion purchase with 3 - 6 weeks in advance; b) broadcasting entertainment programs mentioning words "onion and health," were correlated with onion purchase with 11 weeks in advance; c) blog mentioning words "onion and efficacy," were correlated with onion purchase with 5 weeks in advance. Our study provided a case on how social media and broadcasting programs could be analyzed for their effects on consumer purchase behavior using big data collection and analysis in the field of agriculture. We propose to use the findings from the study may be applied to promote onion consumption.

In Japan, plant genomics research is mainly leaded by the national research institutes. The various structural studies such as rice genome has allowed researchers to analyze useful traits, and to focus their commercialization. With aims to facilitate structural and functional study in plant genome, NIAS (National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences) constructed Poaceae genome DB and RIKEN (Rikagaku Kenkyusho) built DB for Arabidopsis genome and plant full-length cDNA. NIG (National Institute of Genetics) constructed a national biological resources DB (National Bio Resource Project). This compiling DB provides a variety of genome-related research materials for researchers in the field. Recently, as an effort to resolve global issues of food supply and environmental problems, New Agri-genome Project has been performed aiming to develop an innovative agricultural technologies for the quantity, disease resistance and identifying useful genes related to environmental problems. In addition, in order to improve agricultural productivity in developing countries, JIRCAS assisted technical supports for the plant genome research and developed NERICA rice, which is suitable for African area. Such these approaches are expected to contribute to solving the global issues about food, energy and environment in the world.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the tyrosinase, xanthine oxidase, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory effects, and nitrite scavenging abilities of Jubak (alcohol filter cake, AFC) hot water and ethanol extracts. Tyrosinase inhibitory effects of Jubak hot water and ethanol extracts were above 85%. Nitrite scavenging ability was higher at pH 1.2 than at pH 4.2 and 6.0. Nitrite scavenging abilities of water and ethanol extracts were above 90% at pH 1.2. Xanthine oxidase inhibitory effect of Jubak hot water and ethanol extracts showed a lower, and the effect did not different by hot water and ethanol. ACE inhibitory effects of Jubak hot water and ethanol extracts were approximately 43~53% and 36~47%, respectively. Overall, our results indicate that Jubak hot water and ethanol extracts may have tyrosinase and ACE inhibitory effects and nitrite scavenging ability, but no xanthine oxidase inhibitory effect. Therefore, Jubak has potential as a cosmetic raw material. Additionally, Jubak could be used as a food additive.
This study investigated the meat quality and storage characteristics of pork loin marinated in grape pomace powder during different storage periods. The experimental design included six treatments : pork loin containing only 100% water (Control, C); pork loin containing a combination of 20% grape pomace and 80% water (T1); pork loin containing a combination of 40% grape pomace and 60% water (T2); pork loin containing a combination of 0.5% grape pomace powder and 95.5% water (T3); pork loin containing a combination of 1.0% grape pomace powder and 99.0% water (T4); and pork loin containing a combination of 2.0% grape pomace powder and 98.0% water (T5). The pork loins aged by grape pomace and grape pomace powder showed decreased crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, pH, redness, and yellowness values; however, their moisture, lightness, and shear force increased significantly. During cold storage, marination with grape pomace and grape pomace powder reduced the 2-thiobarbituric acid value, volatile basic nitrogen value, and total microbial count in pork loin. Thus, marination with grape pomace and grape pomace powder improved the meat quality and storage characteristics, and could be used to improve storage stability of pork loin.
