This study presents a teaching model to increase the participation and interest, and to improve their understanding of physical concepts of first-year engineering students taking physics(2) course at a three-year college. In the class, a team task solution based on teamwork and a peer learning method through questions and answers between participants in each team were applied so that learners could actively participate in the class to discuss and present. We examined how the activities of each team affected students' interest in subjects, motivation to learn, and the degree of understanding of physical concepts. In the team activity, students were able to actively participate through emotional sharing between learners and free questions and explanations, and it was confirmed that academic achievement was improved by comparing the final exam evaluation results with the evaluation results of the previous three years.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze nursing students' learning styles and relationship of learning style to participation and academic achievement. Method: The study participants were nursing students in C college learning through problem based learning (PBL). Data were collected using a questionnaire which included Kolb's learning styles. Performance evaluation and paper examination were used to evaluate academic achievement. Results: Most of the students had converger type learning style. Student with a tendency to abstract conceptualization, such as converger type and assimilator type, preferred discussion and presentation. The students with converger type learning style participated and achieved better than students with diverger style. Conclusion: The results indicate that learning style was related to participation and academic achievement. Therefore in order to use PBL effectively, facilitators should consider students' learning styles.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of achievement and satisfaction of pediatric nursing clinical practice by nursing students' evaluation. The subjects were 115 nursing students from the K university of B city and completed the child nursing practice from February 24 to June 24, 2016. The purpose of this study is to figure out the quality of understanding and implementation for teachers implementing the 2009 revised elementary science curriculum achievement standards. To achieve this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 participants, and the qualitative contents method was used to analyze interview contents. According to the interview contents, the results of this study can be described as a phenomenon that teachers implementing achievement standards regarded achievement standards as usual, while focusing on evaluation in school. To make clear of this phenomenon, we classified it into two main dimensions. One is the understanding of teachers by implementing the 2009 Revised National Curriculum achievement standards for elementary school science curriculum, the other is its application. Teachers regarded achievement standards as a criterion, but did not have much attention to it during class time. Furthermore, teachers point out the problems caused by lacking available support materials and the material about core achievement standards. When teachers implemented achievement standards, they prefer to give class to students based on textbooks rather than achievement standards, and they usually use it as evaluation criterion. Based on the results of this study, there were three suggestions and they are as follows: First, it is necessary to improve teachers' professionalism on curriculum and it is a must for teachers to have more concerns about achievement standards; Second, to develop accessible support materials for teachers; Third, to improve curriculum implementation systems.

The purposes of National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) are to assess Korean students' achievement of the educational goals as well as to diagnose the trends of educational achievement in order to monitor the quality of education at the national level. We analysed average scores in science achievement and trend of achievement level at the National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) from the year 2003 to 2006 for 6th, 9th and 10th graders. The results are as follows: For grades 6, 9, and 10, the average scores of NAEA did not tend to increase or decrease. About the trend analysis of gender, females outperformed males for grade 6, but males outperformed females for grade 10. For grade 6, the ratio of females in Advanced level was more than that of the males in the same level. For grades 9 and 10, the ratio of male was higher than the females. For grades 6, 9 and 10, the ratio of males in Below-Basic level was more than that of females in the same level. The results of the educational achievement of urbanization shows that students in rural area scored the lowest. And the ratio of Below-basic level students was highest in rural area. It is needed that educational surroundings be improved to lessen the score difference both between genders and regions. An additional study is needed to used the results of NAEA for the improvement of curriculum and educational policy.
In this paper I will look into achievement standards which show gender difference. This work is based on the average of percentage of correct answer about items taken in National Assessment of Educational Achievement (2010~2014) at each male and female student of middle school. Achievement standard becomes the basic unit when teachers make study plans as the smallest unit that composes the curriculum. Study plans are expressed concretely according to lesson time numbers, and then lesson time numbers are determined by achievement standards. Therefore, objective informations about gender difference appearing in achievement standards will play an important role in embodiment of programs to obliterate gender difference when teachers make study plans. Also This research is expected to play a role as an indicator in studying on gender difference in mathematics education.

The purposes of the study were to examine students' attitudes toward science and to investigate the relationship between attitudes toward and achievement in science. In order to achieve the purposes, the data collected from the National Assessment of Educational Achievement in 2001 were analyzed in this study. Approximately 1% of students within the entire population of the Grades 6, 9, 10 were randomly selected for the National Assessment of Educational Achievement in 2001. Students at all grade levels had slightly positive attitudes toward science. Positive attitudes toward science were higher at elementary level. Male students had more positive attitudes than female students and the difference in attitudes between male and female students was statistically significant. Also, there were significant differences in students' attitudes toward science among regions including Seoul, metropolitan city, small city and town. In addition, achievement in science was significantly and positively related to attitudes toward science, that is, the higher the students achieved, the more positive their attitudes toward science.

Korean students ranked the 3rd out of 32 participating countries in the first cycle of PISA(Programme for International Student Assessment) science field, which assessed 15-years-old students' scientific literacy. PISA developed several variables such as parents' socio-economic status, parents' educational attainment, family wealth, and cultural possession, to investigate the effects of background variables on scientific literacy. On the other hand, motivation and engagement in science study were not given much attention, partly because science was the minor area in the first cycle of PISA. Therefore, PISA Korea developed a series of variables to collect data on students' learning motives and out-of-school activities in science as a national option. The results are as followings. First, Korea was found to be one of the PISA participating countries with the scientific literacy achievement least influenced by parents' socio-economic status, family wealth, and parents' cultural possession. Second, the degree of achievement in scientific literacy according to parents' educational attainment was in a positive correlation, similar to the overall tendency of PISA. Third, the most crucial learning motive for Korean students was their desire to develop scientific thinking abilities or obtain science knowledge. On the other hand, choosing jobs in the field of science or parental expectation was the least important learning motive. In particular, the motive for scientific learning was found to have a positive relationship with the degree of scientific literacy achievement. Therefore, the higher the students achievement, the stronger the motive for scientific learning in order to develop their ability to think scientifically or acquire science knowledge. Fourth, Korean students were shown to participate very little in out-of-school scientific activities other than watching TV programs related to science. Whatever the activities may be, the more actively involved students are in out-of-school scientific activities, the higher their scientific literacy achievement. Fifth, Korean girls were rather passive compared to boys in all areas, including science learning motive and out-of-school scientific activities. The gender difference was especially more pronounced in out-of-school scientific activities with wider gaps in such activities as reading scientific books or articles and visiting science-related web sites.

The purpose of this study were to identify the importance of father’s roles on children. A survey was carried out on 458(227 boys and 231 girls) 6th-graders at randomly chosen 4 elementary schools in Kwangju. Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation and Pearson’s coefficient were checked and one-way ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple range test and multiple regression analysis were also carried out on the collected data. The results were as follows; 1. Evaluation of fathers’role performance depending on background variables ranged from 46.17 to 58.51 points(equivalent to 61.56∼78.01 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant difference were children’s sex, fathers’religion (whether they had one or not) fathers’education, monthly family income and decision-makers at home. The degrees of fathers’role performance were higher when the answerers were girls, when fathers had religions, when fathers educational level was higher, when the family income was higher, and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 2. Evaluation of children’s achievement motivation depending on background variables ranged from 77.17 to 84.34 points( equivalent to 68.90∼75.35 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant differences were children∼s sex and decision-makers at home. Children∼s achievement motivation were higher in the case of girls and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 3. When it comes to the children’s achievement motivation in relation to father’s role performance, 1)The overall aspect of fathers’ role performance caused significant differences in children’s achievement motivation. 2) The influence of fathers’role performance on children’s achievement motivation was highest in the investigation-faciliator role (${\beta}$=2.5) and then the economic role (${\beta}$=.14) and the valuetransmitter role (${\beta}$=.14). The explanative power of these variables was 22%.
