There is a significant meaning in promoting healthy growth and development by reducing academic stress and academic burnouts, as well as providing fundamental data to understand and mentor elementary gifted student and general students emotionally. The results obtained in this study were as follows. First, the results showed that the gifted students' academic stress, school stress, and after school academic stress were significantly lower than general students'. Second, the results showed that the elementary gifted students used more of active and socially supported ways to cope with stress while the general students use more of passive/evasive and aggressive ways to cope with stress. Third, the results showed that the score of gifted students' academic burnouts was significantly lower than that of regular students', and among general students, the students who spent more time than average time in the private education per week had significantly higher academic burnouts compared to the students who didn't. Fourth, the results showed that the elementary gifted students with high academic stress used more passive/evasive and aggressive ways to cope with stress. As a result of correlation analysis, it appeared a positive correlation between academic stress and academic burnout. Hierarchical multiple regression showed that academic stress and stress coping affected on academic burnout significantly.

  • This study focuses on enhancing expertise as a study advisor for mathematic teacher in field based on self-study method. By advising math study with students in school, the research was carried out 'process & content of mathematic study method advisement', 'process & content of the self-questioning by the math study adviser', and 'enhancing expertise as a math study counsellor by self-study method'. Overall process has been proceeded through preparation, experiment, result & analysis. Experiment has been done based on consultation modeling for academic high school which ran five times. During consultation, based on analysis & result, researcher has recorded 'self-questioning' report. This report is utilized for 'self-examination' for the researcher along the discussion with counselor for enhancing expertise as a study advisor. By above process, practitioner identifies each own's pros & cons as a mathematic study advisor and strengthens the skill while understanding the subject: student. by 'self-studying' method, advisor enhances its own expertise as a teacher with the achieving student and learns practical knowledge for a math study advisor.

  • This study examined the level of depression according to the characteristics of school and family life of female high school students. In particular, this study attempted to identify the relationship between academic stress and the depression levels. The survey conducted a self-administered questionnaire from 438 students at D city in August, 2019. As a result, the distribution of the depression levels among the study subjects was 78.8 % for 「normal」 and 21.2 % for 「depression」, and the distribution of depression was significantly higher in groups with higher academic stress. The academic stress and depression levels showed significant positive correlations. In logistic regression analysis, the risk ratio of 「depression」was significantly higher in groups with higher academic stress than in groups with lower academic stress. According to multiple regression analysis, the factors affecting the level of depression were chosen as significant variables, such as academic achievement, relationship with school fellow, satisfaction with school life, test stress, study stress, and career stress. The above findings suggest that the level of depression in female high school students was related to academic stress and many other variables of school and family life characteristics.

  • This study was designed to examine the influence of academic stress, anxiety, interpersonal dependency, and hopelessness on female high school students and their level of depression. The study subjects were 684 students attending an all-female high school in C city. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires between November 1st, 2016 and December 31st, 2016. The data were analyzed using the SPSSWIN(ver. 21.0) program. The mean values of the level of depression were analyzed by the t-test and ANOVA. The correlation coefficientswereobtained by Pearson correlation analysis and acovariance structure analysis was performed on the factors affecting the level of depression. It was found that the level of depression among all of the subjects was significantly higher within the group with a higher level of academic stress, anxiety, interpersonal dependency, and hopelessness. Thus, the level of depression was positively correlated with the levels of academic stress, anxiety, interpersonal dependency, and hopelessness. The factor that had the most influence on depression was the anxiety factor, followed by interpersonal dependency and academic stress. This result suggests that the level of depression in female high school students has a causal relationship with academic stress, anxiety, interpersonal behavioral characteristics, and hopelessness. Therefore, the most effective strategy to reduce the level of depression among female high school students would appear to be efforts to decrease their academic stress, anxiety, and interpersonal dependency.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze effects on storytelling materials of statistics in the middle school classroom lesson. For this purpose, a story is developed by the Zazkis & Liljedahl's model and applied to the 7th graders of 4 classes in a middle school. After the comparison between 5 hours of storytelling lessons and ordinary lessons, the following research findings are obtained. First, storytelling material brings a positive effect on student's academic achievement. It is also shown by the qualitative analysis that this result was caused by cognition of data observation, data transformation, and unification of data with context. Second, storytelling material brings a positive effect on student's affective attitude. It is also validated by the qualitative analysis that students show the positive change in mathematical value cognition and the interests in the lesson.

In order to evaluate the originality of problems, the present study used three methods: evaluation by frequency, teacher, and student. The results in this study turned out to be as follows: First, there was not much difference in the three methods. But familiar problems had the possibility of receiving higher marks. Second, the ability of students' raising creative problems was significantly correlated with academic achievement and creative personality, but there was no correlation with science inquiry skills. The subjects were divided into 2 groups by students' originality score. In the higher score group, the ability of students' raising creative problems was significantly correlated with creative personality, but in the lower score group, it was significantly correlated with academic achievement. Third, as for science inquiry skills and creative personality between two groups, there was no significant difference, whereas as for academic achievement(physics I, chemistry I), there was significant difference.
