Coastal water including estuaries has distinctive environmental characteristics where sediments are transported and deposited by flowing river water, providing an environment in which fluid mud layers can be formed. Acoustic method is mostly used to detect or monitor the fluid mud layer. However, since sound propagating in this layer suffers severe attenuation, it is important to estimate the accurate attenuation coefficient for various concentrations of fluid mud layer for the successful use of the acoustic method. In this paper, measurement results of attenuation coefficient for 3.5, 5, and 7.5 MHz ultrasounds were presented. The measurements were made in a small-size water tank in which suspended sediment samples with various sediment concentrations were formed using kaolinite powder. The results were compared to the model predictions obtained by attenuation coefficient model in which the mean grain size (called as Mass-median-diameter, D50) was used as input parameter. There were reasonable agreements between measured attenuation coefficients and model outputs predicted using the particle range of D50 ${\pm}20%$. The comparison results imply that although the suspended sediments consist of various-sized particles, sound attenuation might be greatly influenced by amount of particle with a size which has a larger attenuation than that of any particle in the suspended sediments for the frequency used.

This paper presents an acoustic inversion method for estimating the bubble size distribution. The estimation error of the attenuation coefficient represented by a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind is defined as an objective function, and an optimal solution is found by applying the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) method. In order to validate the effectiveness of the inversion method, numerical simulations using two types of bubble distribution are performed. In addition, a series of experiments are carried out in a water tank (1.0 m × 0.54 m × 0.6 m), using bubbles generated by three different generators. Images of the distributed bubbles are obtained by a high-speed camera, and the insertion losses of the bubble layer are measured using a source and a hydrophone. The image is post-processed to glance a distribution characteristics of each bubble generator. Finally, the size distribution of bubbles is estimated by applying the inversion method to the measured insertion loss. From the inversion results, it was observed that the number of bubbles increases exponentially as the bubble size decreases, and then increases again after the local peak at 70 ㎛ - 120 ㎛.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how teachers recognize the differentiation of gifted education in invention to gifted education in science. An online survey was conducted to more than 500 hundred school teachers to ask (1) if gifted education in invention is necessary as an independent area of gifted education, (2) if gifted education in invention should be differentiated in identification, education programs, councelling, facilities and so on to gifted education in science, and (3) what problems gifted education in invention are facing and how we can promote gifted education in invention. Findings by this study are like the following: 1. Almost all teachers, regardless of whether their duty is related to gifted education in invention or not, recognized the necessity of gifted education in invention as an independent area of gifted education, especially from gifted education in science. 2. Teachers recognized the differentiation of gifted education in invention in diverse aspects of gifted education, like identification, educational programming, and so on, especially to gifted education in science. 3. Teachers recognized the shortage of trained teachers as the most critical obstacles to gifted education in invention, and also thought training programs for teachers as the most important means that can promote gifted education in invention.
This paper presents a method for improving the performance of ISF coefficients quantizer through compensating the defect of the split structure vector quantization using the ordering property of ISF coefficients. And design the ISF coefficients quantizer for wideband speech codec using proposed method. The wideband speech codec uses split structure vector quantizer which could not use the correlation between ISF coefficients fully to reduce complexity and the size of codebook. The proposed algorithm uses the ordering property of ISF coefficients to overcome the defect. Using the ordering property, the codebook redundancy could be figured out. The codebook redundancy is replaced by the adaptive-extended codebook to improve the performance of the quantizer through using the ordering property, ISF coefficient prediction and interpolation of existing codebook. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows that the adaptive-extended codebook algorithm could get about 2 bit gains in comparison with the existing split structure ISF quantizer of AMR-WB (G.722.2) in the points of spectral distortion.
Bio-implantable devices such as heart pacers, gastric pacers and drug-delivery systems require power for carrying out their intended functions. These devices are usually powered through a battery implanted with the system or are wired to an external power source. This paper describes an inductive power transmission link, which was developed for an implantable stimulator for direct stimulation of denervated muscles. The carrier frequency is around 1MHz, the transmitter coil has a diameter of 46mm, and the implant coil is 46mm. Data transmission to the implant with amplitude shift keying (ASK) and back to the transmitter with passive telemetry can be added without major design changes. We chose the range of coil spacing (2 to 30mm) to care for lateral misalignment, as it occurs in practical use. If the transmitter coil has a well defined and reliable position in respect to the implant, a smaller working range might be sufficient. Under these conditions the link can be operated in fixed frequency mode, and reaches even higher efficiencies of up to 37%. The link transmits a current of 50 mA over a distance range of 2-15 mm with an efficiency of more than 20% in tracking frequency. The efficiency of the link was optimized with different approaches. A class E transmitter was used to minimize losses of the power stage. The geometry and material of the transmitter coil was optimized for maximum coupling. Phase lock techniques were used to achieve frequency tracking, keeping the transmitter optimally tuned at different coupling conditions caused by coil distance variations.
The popularity of personal listening devices(PLDs) has increased over past years, especially, in adolescents. Overuses and missuses of PLDs could be the cause of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). The purposes of this study were (1) to survey middle school students' habits using PLDs, knowledge of hearing loss and attitude of hearing protection and (2) to develope a questionnaire for assessment of habits using PLDs, knowledge of hearing loss and attitude of hearing protection in adolescents. The 41-item questionnaire was designed and used to survey middle school students' habits using PLDs, knowledge of hearing loss and attitude of hearing protection. A total of 404 middle school students aged 14-15 years participated in the survey. Most of the students were found to use PLDs soundly. However, 30 % of students used PLDs for more than 3 hours a day. Also, almost all of the students did not understand knowledge of the causes of hearing loss, but showed interests in hearing protection. However, some students had insufficient understanding of the causes of hearing loss and the needs of hearing protection. The results suggest that the development of programs for adolescents' hearing health is needed.
This study is to enforce to ready basic data of effective dental education program and no smoking and no drinking program for high school students who do smoking and drinking, executed investigation by own recording way using smoking and questionnaire consisted of actual conditions and caries prevention awareness and dental health knowledge degree of drinking to some man high school. Analyzes result that total 487 people respond in SPSS WIN 13.0 programs and got following sequence. Result of this study is as following. 1. Mans high school students had more students who do not than a drinking student and main current received most soju. Third-year student appeared by thing which receive a lot of soju than 1 or 2 class student but different other difference was not seen by class. 2. Mans high school students had more students who do not than a smoking student and a student who smoke more than 3 years was the most. I can know was old since third-year student smokes than 1 or 2 class student. 3. It was not difference that keep in mind by drinking, smoking availability although there were many students who recognize that all of the on-time dental medical examination, sugar intake limitation, fluorine inclusion toothpaste, teeth fluorine application are seldom effective on caries prevention. 4. Recognized that right brushing is effective relatively on caries prevention. I was shown difference that recognized that righter brushing is effective on bad tooth courtesy call than a student who a student who do not smoke does, and keeps in mind according to smoking availability ($x^2$=6.78, p<0.05). 5. Natural boron consists of two stable isotopes 10B and 11B with natural abundance of 18.8 atom percent of 10B and 81.2 atom percent of 11B. The thermal neutron absorption cross-section for 10B and 11B are 3837 barn and 0.005 barn respectively. 10B enriched specific compounds are used for control rods and as a reactor coolant additives. In this work 2 methods for boron enrichment were analysed: 1) Gas irradiation in static conditions. Dissociation occurs due to multiphoton absorption by specific isotopes in appropriately tuned laser field. IR shifted laser pulses are usually used in combination with increasing the laser intensity also improves selectivity up to some degree. In order to prevent recombination of dissociated molecules BCl3 is mixed with H2S 2) SILARC method. Advantages of this method: a) Gas cooling is helpful to split and shrink boron isotopes absorption bands. In order to achieve better selectivity BCl3 gas has to be substantially rarefied (~0.01%-5%) in mixture with carrier gas. b) Laser intensity is lower than in the first method. Some preliminary calculations of dissociation and recombination with carrier gas molecules energetics for both methods will be demonstrated Boron separation in SILARC method can be represented as multistage process: 1) Mixture of BCl3 with carrier gas is putted in reservoir 2) Gas overcooling due to expansion through Laval nozzle 3) IR multiphoton absorption by gas irradiated by specifically tuned laser field with subsequent gradual gas condensation in outlet chamber It is planned to develop software which includes these stages. This software will rely on the following available software based on quantum molecular dynamics in external quantized field: 1) WavePacket: Each particle is treated semiclassicaly based on Wigner transform method 2) Turbomole: It is based on local density methods like density of functional methods (DFT) and its improvement- coupled clusters approach (CC) to take into account quantum correlation. These models will be used to extract information concerning kinetic coefficients, and their dependence on applied external field. Information on radiative corrections to equation of state induced by laser field which take into account possible phase transition (or crossover?) can be also revealed. This mixed phase equation of state with quantum corrections will be further used in hydrodynamical simulations. Moreover results of these hydrodynamical simulations can be compared with results of CFD calculations. The first reasonable question to ask before starting the CFD simulations is whether turbulent effects are significant or not, and how to model turbulence? The questions of laser beam parameters and outlet chamber geometry which are most optimal to make all gas volume irradiated is also discussed. Relationship between enrichment factor and stagnation pressure and temperature based on experimental data is also reported.

Recently, an increasing number of bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw(BRONJ) is being reported. A guideline has been already established in the US, but it does not seem to be fully recognized by clinicians in Korea. Therefore, a survey study was done to inform and have clinicians realize the seriousness of BRONJ. 1,341 practitioners were randomly selected out of 13,405 practitioners(by Feb of 2008, KDA) in Korea. A questionnaire was given to them between May to July in 2008. Questions were designed to investigate each respondent's experience term years in the clinic, occupation, speciality, awareness on risk of bisphosphonate, experience on treating osteonecrosis patients, awareness about the guideline on BRONJ suggested by AAOMS and whether if they ask about bisphosphonate medication history to patients before invasive treatment. 45.1% of the clinicians have reported on experiencing delayed healing on bone exposed site after extraction both in the maxilla and the mandible. However, clinicians have asked the patients whether if they are on bisphosphonate or not in only 15.1% of these cases. 56.5% of the clinicians simply knew about BRONJ but only 28.9% of the clinicians were aware that bisphosphonate can cause osteonecrosis after invasive dental treatment. Only 19.3% knew about the contents of guideline on BRONJ and 57.2% were aware of the seriousness of BRONJ. Clinicians with shorter clinical experience term were more aware of BRONJ and the guideline on BRONJ than the experienced clinicians. But awareness of the possibility of BRONJ after invasive dental treatment were about the same regardless of their clinical experience. The results show that Korean clinicians need to be more aware about BRONJ. Data on BRONJ cases in Korea should be collected and provided with additional education to let Korean clinicians know and be more aware about BRONJ.
The purpose of this study was to compare the oral health education effect and the satisfaction about the method between SDL and CCI on elementary school students. Method: The subjects of this study were 233 elementary school students in fourth grade (male: 56%, female: 44%) who attended two different elementary schools in Wonju Gangwon-do. They are divided into two groups and instructed by different method of the oral health education, SDL (Self-Directed Learning) and CCI (Conventional Classroom Instruction). The survey was conducted three times, preeducation, just after the education and one week after education. Collected data were analyzed into Chi-square test, Independent t-test and Repeated measure ANOVA using SPSS 12.0 K program. Result: 1. Changes of oral health knowledge: After the education, the average score of the oral health knowledge went up significantly in both groups. 2. Changes of oral health behavior: After the education, the average score of the oral health behavior rose up significantly in both groups and especially just after education, SDL group was recorded higher average score than CCI group. 3. Satisfaction: In both groups, the satisfaction rates about the education method were high (SDL: 88.9%, CCI: 99.1%). The main reason of satisfaction in SDL group was that the students were interested in the method of the education and the main reason of dissatisfaction was that they could not ask a question to the educator.
