  • In this study, we analyzed whether 2015 revised elementary school mathematics curriculum 's standards statements reflect the direction of 2015 revised curriculum. For the objectivity of analysis, 128 achievement standards statements were analyzed based on content - centered statements, activity - centered statements, and performance - centered statements by Seo Young - jin 's (2013). As a result of the analysis, it can be seen that the 2015 revision elementary mathematics curriculum achievement standards statements do not contain enough information to expand the mathematical competence of students. To complement this, the achievement standards statements should include more elements than 'content + function', and other criteria should be developed to clearly communicate the meaning of the achievement standards statements. And it is necessary to supplement the expression of 'function' in the achievement standards in order to improve the expression of the elementary school mathematics curriculum achievement standards statements.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the level relevance of the kindergarten curriculum in terms of the kindergarten and elementary school curriculum articulation. For this purpose, a model was developed to assess the level relevance of the curriculum. Next, the achievement standards of the curriculum were analyzed by using this model. Finally, teachers' guidebooks were analyzed, too. The following results were obtained from the analysis. First, five of the 14 achievement standards are rated as 'relevant', and nine of them were 'irrelevant'. Also, six of the irrelevant achievement standards were rated as 'overlap', two of them were rated as 'retrogression', and one of them was rated as 'gap'. I found a lot of problems with the level relevance in the kindergarten curriculum. As the results to analyze teachers' guidebooks, I found that there were the great frequency difference in the activities of teachers' guidebooks.

  • In this paper, we analyzed curriculum materials on inequalities as regions. Constructs such as mathematical connections and curriculum articulation were used as a framework. As for articulation, our findings indicate the topic of inequalities as regions addresses meaningful subordinate mathematical thinking and skills that serve prerequisite to calculus. Regarding connections, mathematical concepts involving inequalities extend to multivariate calculus. One implication is, as an unintended consequence of curricular decision of 2015 Revised National Curriculum to teach the topic only in mathematical economics, students who plan to study STEM subjects in college but opt out of mathematics economics in high school may miss the key concept and naturally struggle to understand calculus especially the theory of multivariate function of calculus.

  • Criticism has been raised that the way of teaching weights in the 3rd and 4th graders of elementary school is different between the 2015 revised math curriculum and the 2015 revised science curriculum, causing confusion among elementary school teachers and students. This study tried to confirm the social recognition that should be considered in the process of didactic transformation which means transformation from knowledge to used into knowledge to taught and to compare the variations of didactic transformations differently according to didactic intentions. The research analyzes and synthesizes the root of the meaning of weight, weight in the international standard system of units SI, weight implemented in Korean mathematics curriculum and textbooks, Singaporean mathematics curriculum and textbooks, USA mathematics curriculum and textbooks, and Korean science curriculum and textbooks. Through this analysis, a pedagogical perspective on how to define and teach weight in elementary school as knowledge to be taught was derived.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore which performance verbs are used in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum and how to improve them. So, first, we analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum achievement standards by school level. In addition, it was analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the mathematics curriculum in Korea and foreign countries. As a result of the analysis, both the frequency and the type of performance verbs included in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum decreased as the school level increased. Also, performative verbs such as 'understand' and 'know' were excessively used. Similar tendencies were seen in foreign mathematics curricula, but the frequency and the type of performance verbs were higher than those in Korea, and various performance verbs were used. As a result of the study, it is suggested that performance verbs included in achievement standards need to be improved to improve middle and high school mathematics classes.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive implications for the development of the next home economics curriculum by comparing the 'function' and 'achievement standard' presented in the 14 subjects of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum with the home economics curriculum. For this, keyword network analysis was conducted, and the results are as follows. First, in the 'function' of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum, 'analysis, use, and expression' were found to be core function keywords with high Degree Centrality and the Eigenvector Centrality. Second, the functional keywords 'understanding, explanation, expression, analysis, and use' in the 'achievement standard' of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum appeared with high frequency, and 'practice, problem-solving, search and reasoning' which are related to practical problem-solving ability appeared. It was confirmed that 'appreciation, solution and realization', which have relatively high Eigenvector Centrality, were core functional keywords used in the 'achievement standard'. Third, when the 'function' and 'achievement standard' of the 2015 revised middle school home economics curriculum were matched and compared, 7 out of 15 functions were not used in the statement of 'achievement standard', so the connection between 'function' and 'achievement standard' appeared to be insufficient. In addition, the diversity of functional keyword used in the 'achievement standard' was also found insufficient when compared to the middle school common curriculum. Therefore, this study propose strengthening the connectivity of 'function' and 'achievement standard' in the next home economics curriculum, using keywords such as 'analyze', 'express', 'compare', 'understand', 'interpret', 'explore', 'appreciate', and 'solve'.

  • We analyzed the representations of acid-base models in 4 kinds of Chemistry I and 4 kinds of Chemistry II textbooks of the 2009 revised curriculum, and 9 kinds of Chemistry I textbooks and 6 kinds of chemistry II textbooks of the 2015 revised curriculum in this study. The problems of the textbook were divided into the problems of definitions and the representations of the logical thinking. As a result of the study, the lack of the concept of chemical equilibrium had a problem with the representation of reversible reactions in the definition of the Brønsted-Lowry model in the Chemistry I textbooks of 2009 revised curriculum, it also appeared to persist in Chemistry I textbooks of 2015 revised curriculum which contains the concept of chemical equilibrium. The representations of logical thinking were related to particle kinds of conservation logic, combinational logic, particle number conservation logic, and proportion logic. There were few problems related to representation of logical thinking in Chemistry I textbook in 2009 revision curriculum, but more problems of representations related to logics are presented in Chemistry I textbooks in 2015 revision curriculum. Therefore, as the curriculum is revised, the representations of chemistry textbooks related to acid and base models need to be changed in a way that can help students' understanding.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze chemistry textbooks and teachers' guidebooks from the perspective of 'Ignorance', one of the important features of model. This is because the emphasis is on developing modeling capabilities for students in the 2015 Revised Curriculum. For this, Arrhenius model and Brønsted-Lowry model were selected as acid and base models in neutralization reaction which are important contents in chemistry curriculum. The analysis criteria of this study were extracted by analyzing previous studies and four general chemistry textbooks dealing with 'Ignorance' related to acid and base neutralization reaction. Based on the analysis criteria, we analyzed nine chemistry I textbooks and teacher's guides and six chemistry II textbooks and teacher's guides of the 2015 revised curriculum. In addition, we analyzed contents of four chemistry I textbooks and teacher's guides and three chemistry II textbooks and teacher's guides in the 2009 revised curriculum for comparison according to revised curriculums. We analyzed the contents related to the concept of 'neutralization reaction', 'neutrality', 'quantitative relation of neutralization reaction', 'degree of ionization', and 'ionization constant'. Based on the results of this study, we proposed a way to present 'Ignorance' of the models in teachers' guidebooks that chemistry teachers can understand 'Ignorance' of model and teach modeling capabilities for students.

  • The revised informatics is to be compulsory for middle school students from 2018 according to 2015 revised curriculum. The concept of abstraction in informatics curriculum has common features and differences compared with general abstraction, however there is a mix of concepts in the current informatics textbook. The abstraction of computational thinking needs to connect with automation, so it is difficult to teach correct concept of abstraction with these textbooks. Therefore, this research conducted to investigate several informatics textbooks that were developed by the revised curriculum and to analyze the concept and examples of abstraction. As a result, some textbooks have that there is a mix of concepts about general abstraction and no connection with automation. This research suggests clarified abstraction and educational examples for cultivating computational thinking to improve this situation. This result will be basic recourse for the reconstruction of abstraction lesson to improving computational thinking.
