A study on how to improve tourism competitiveness for the activation of cruise tourism industry - Focusing on the influence of attribute satisfaction on overall satisfaction of cruise tourists by countries - (크루즈관광산업 활성화를 위한 관광경쟁력 제고방안 연구 - 방한 크루즈관광객의 어권별 관광만족도의 차이를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how to improve tourism competitiveness of cruise harbours in Korea by analyzing tourism satisfaction level of international cruise visitors to Korea, who are increasing rapidly as Northeast Asian cruise tourism market is growing up. In this study we analyzed the factors of effects on tourism satisfaction level by Chinese visitors, Japanese visitors and English speaking visitors respectively based on the results of "International Cruise Visitor Survey 2012". The results of this study show that the individual satisfaction level of port of calling & tour schedule, immigration procedures, transportation, shopping influenced overall tourism satisfaction level by countries. It implied that those attributes should be reflected hereafter when we establish a marketing strategy for each of cruise cities. This study has a great significance in that those results suggest useful information when we make plans not only for activating cruise harbours but also for cruise tour marketing.

  • The purpose of this paper is to conduct an empirical analysis in order to how cooperative relationships such as joint venture, management cooperation and agency contracts affect the business performance of Korean freight forwarders. In order to fulfill the paper objective, this paper examines the roles of freight forwarders and business environment of Chinese markets.

Analysis of Logistics Network between Gwangyang Port and China Ports using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 이용한 광양항과 중국항만간의 물류네트워크 분석)

  • This paper is concerned about applying the Fuzzy-AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) for an analysis of logistics network between Gwangyang port and China ports. In this study, measurement areas were selected for hardware aspect, software aspect, and marketing aspect. As for the analysis regarding measurement area, the results were shown as follows: a marketing aspect(38.7%) as the first rank: a hardware aspect(35.3%) as the second rank: a software aspect(26.0%) as the third rank. The analysis result of hardware aspect reveals that the most important element is regular route addition between Gwangyang port and China ports(45.2%). The most important element of software and marketing aspect were a government support(46.4%) and a high value transshipment cargo inducement(36.4%). As for the whole priority which conversion weight was applied, the results were shown as follows: a regular route addition between Gwangyang port and China ports(15.9%) as the first rank: a high value transshipment cargo inducement(14.1%) as the second rank: a attracting import cargo from China(12.9%) as the third rank. The result of this study suggests some guidelines for deciding priority of logistics network between Gwangyang port and China ports.

An Empirical Study on the Perception of Port Service Quality - Primarily on SERVQUAL Model In Container Terminal - (항만 서비스품질 지각에 관한 연구 - 컨테이너항만의 SERVQUAL 적용을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of the relationship between several factors representing perceived port service quality and the adaptability to the marketing strategy of container terminal. An empirical study was carried out to examine not only the determinants of port service quality using PZB's SERVQUAL model but also its implications to the service marketing strategy. The data investigating the determinants of port service quality were collected from 136 managers from shipping companies by the use of questionnaire method. Factor analysis and t-test were carried out to analyze the data. The results of this study were as follows ; First, Shipping companies perceive the port service quality on two the dimensions of personnel and material aspects. Second, Shipping companies put more emphasis on the reliance of port service quality even though the port authority offers good facilities and materials as parts of port shipping quality. Third, There is a significant relationship between the purchase intention and the customer satisfaction. These findings help not only to formulate service marketing strategy based on service quality but also to be a concept tool to enhance port service quality.

A Study on the perception of shippers on the port of Pyeongtaek and its development strategies (경기화주들의 평택항에 대한 인식도와 발전전략)

  • The fact that Pyeongtaek Port is located ideally at the central point of the Yellow Sea's Economic Zone and it is very close to the metropolitan area of South Korea which occupies more than 50 percent of the total trade volume in terms of tonnage is providing a good prospect of development for the Port of Pyeongtaek. This study examines the perception of shippers in Kyonggi-do on the development of Pyeongtaek Port, giving some suggestions to the Pyeongtaek Port Authority. It begins with a description of the port such as current economic status, statistics on the economy, trade and investment regarding the Port of Pyeongtaek. According to a particular questionnaire survey conducted in December 2001, the major obstacles to the utilization of the port are as follows: a shortage of liner shipping routes, lack of container handling facilities including container terminal, crane etc., and port sales promotion activity. Therefore the port should make aggressive efforts to attract container cargoes to and from China by expanding port facilities, implementing effective marketing strategies, introducing a customs-free zone/free trade zone, and strengthening port sales etc.

  • This paper deals with the problem of port administration and management of the port of Pusan. As the port of Pusan has been administrated by central government, several problems on port administration and management have occurred. These include the time-lagged port development, the inconsistent port planning with city planning, the insufficient long-term port development planning the various operation authorities the low productivity of port and the lack of port sales activities etc. In addition to solving the above mentioned problems to diversify the function of port the following measures are to be taken for the port of Pusan ; the transfer from port administration system to port management system, the introduction of Port Authority with a board, and the conversion of the management system from production-oriented to marketing-oriented.

A New View on Mokpo Port Development Strategies (목포항 물동량 변화에 따른 항만개발전략)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the new port development concepts in relation to the Mokpo port development. To analysis, we examine the relationship between the trade volumes which the port have and the capacities of the port facilities with 8 Korean seaport data. As a result of analysis, the trade volumes of port were found to be the major factors positively influencing the capacities of the port facilities in Korean ports. This findings shows that Mokpo port which trying to increase the trade volumes should have the new alternatives for Mokpo regional development. The new alternatives on the Mokpo Port's development are the model which constructing the Free Trade Zone(FTZ) and port city.

  • After the joining in the WTO of China, the container throughputs have begun to increase notably and Continuous developments of China ports are influencing operation and policy of Korea ports. At this point Pyeongtaek Dangjin port which has potency as China trading port confronts with turning point of port development as new port. To this, correct need grasping of North China shippers is important strategic element of PyeongTaek Dangjin Port activation. In this study, there is purpose to present Pyeongtaek Port's activation strategy by grasping customer needs executing questionnaire to China local company about Pyeongtaek Dangjin Port. As a research result, Pyeongtaek Dangjin Port possesses high geographical strength but has problems like development delay, tribe of various route, absence of marketing strategy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes expansion of port and logistics physical distribution equipment, improvement of services, foundation of joint logistics center, establishment of marketing organization etc. Namely, it may overcome only new port's limitation though develop to port of cargo creation style that is not simple cargo dependence style port.

The Estimating of Port Preference according to Customer′s Segmentation (고객 세분화에 따른 항만 선호도 비교분석)

  • In this paper, we estimate the difference of port preference and attributed importance by diving subjects of the survey into internal and external shipping companies considered as the main customers of port. From the results of conjoint analysis, it is found that there are differences in preference between domestic shipping companies and foreign ones. The difference in port preference shows; foreign shipping companies mark Shanghai port in the first place in the preference of transshipment port, while domestic shipping companies prefer Busan port. Similar results are applied to preference of rolling port. The result of the survey means it is necessary to group shipping company, when port is analyzed, because the port preference is subject to wether internal or external shipping companies. Also, it implies target marketing strategies should continuously be needed in order to maintain Busan port's preference gaining advantage over other ports and major target would be shipping companies.

  • 조류 탐사관은 최근 주 5일 근무제 시행과 더불어 늘어난 관광 수요에 따라 최근 활성화 되고 있는 전시시설의 항 유형이다. 조류를 관찰함으로써 어린이들의 지적 호기심을 충족시키며 가족 단위의 관광 자원으로서 그 입지를 굳혀가는 중이라고 볼 수 있다. 최근에는 지자체의 지역 마케팅 요구에 맞물려 특히 서해안 지역에서 개관을 하였거나 개관 준비 중인 조류 탐사 관련 시설들을 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 조류 탐사 전시시설의 계획에 있어서 고려할 사항을 지역 마케팅과 전시 계획적인 관점에서 고찰하여 보았다.
