Three children with developmental delays and three students without developmental delays who were 4-year-old students in an inclusive classroom were selected. Their homeroom teacher carried out the program with a small group of 6 children totaling 21 sessions over 3 months. The major results of this study were as follows: First, the result of both the observer and the parents' test after the program showed that the small group made positive changes on prosocial behaviors. In addition the frequency of target behaviors increased during the intervention. Second, the result of both the observer and the parents' test after the program showed that positive peer play interaction increased in the small group. Moreover the negative peer play interaction such as play disturbance and play isolation decreased. In conclusion, the thematic fantasy play program is useful for an inclusive classroom, and can be a concrete method to support inclusive education and childcare.

  • Objective : This study aims to ascertain the effect of oral activity and sensory integration therapy on drool and play using oral toys in children with developmental delays. Methods : The participants of the study were two children (2 years and 8 months) experiencing developmental delays with sensory modulation problems in their oral sensory faculties. The research design was multi-baseline design cross-subjects among single-subject research ABA. Target behaviors were measured by drooling and interest and concentration in play using oral toys through the Goal Attachment Scale (GAS). In the 10 sessions that the children underwent during the intervention period (B), oral activity and proprioception-vestibular sensory integration therapy were applied. Results : The GAS of drooling improved from 0.25 for child A and -0.5 for child B during the baseline to 1.88 for child A and 1.4 for child B during the intervention period. The follow-up was 3 for both child A and child B. Meanwhile, the GAS of play during the baseline was -0.75 for child A and 0.75 for child B, and 1.9 for child A and 1.1 for child B during the intervention period. The follow-up was 1.33 for child A and 2 for child B. Conclusion : Oral activity and proprioceptive-vestibular sensory integration therapy are effective in drooling and playing with oral toys in children with sensory modulation problems in their oral sensory faculties.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of paired-group sensory integration therapy on sensory processing, peer interaction, and play development of four-year-old children. Methods : This study involved 13 weekly sessions of a four-minute intervention as well as an initial 10 minutes of parental counseling for those without experience of paired-group sensory integration therapy. The intervention consisted of sensory processing activities and various occupational activities, and the children's Short Sensory Profile (SSP), Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale (PIPPS), and Knox Preschool Play Scale-Revised (KPPS-R) were measured before and after the sessions for comparison. The results are presented using visualized data. Results : After the paired-group interventions, all subjects showed improved sensory processing ability according to their SSP scores and improved play development on the KPPS-R. Moreover, the frequency of negative interactions decreased in the PIPPS measure. Conclusion : This paired-group sensory integration therapy had a positive effect on sensory processing, peer interaction, and play for children with developmental delay. In the future, research that applies this kind of paired-group intervention in various age groups would be useful.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the reliability of Test of Playfulness (ToP) in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) children. Methods : Twenty ADHD children participated in this study. To determine inter-rater reliability, two raters was evaluated by Test of Playfulness scores and analyzed Kappa coefficient and total agreement and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results : Total agreement was the range of 75%~95% and the Kappa coefficients was the range of. 45~1.00. Analyzing inter-rater reliability by ICC showed very high reliability: Intrinsic motivation was .96, internal control was .98, suspension of reality was .90, framing was .98, total score was .99. Conclusion : A reliability of Test of Playflness of children with ADHD showed that high. On the basis of this study, it will provide availability for clinical evaluation of children with ADHD, and basic study on the play of children with ADHD.

  • Objective : The purpose of this research is understanding relevancy of school ages'ability of sensory process and preference of what they want to play, and studying of main reason of impact of sensory process to preference of what school ages want to play. Methods : During 22 to 24 October 2012, our group evaluated and analyzed ability of sensory process and preference of what children want to play by using Short Sensory Profile (SSP) and Pediatric Interest Profile (PIP) to elementary school children in fourth grade at Kimhae city in Kyungnam province. Results : For the total population of an ability of sensory process and frequency, preference, and proficiency of eight different games, preference of outdoor activities appears to be related to total score of sensitivity to taste and smell and filter of hearing. For preference and proficiency of creative activities appears to be related to sensitivity of taste and smell. Preference of lessons and classes related to total scores of sensitivity of tactile sensation, taste and smell, movement, and filter of hearing, and sensitivity of visual and hearing. Frequency and proficiency of lessons and classes are inter-related to sensitivity of visual and hearing. Conclusion : This research shows that there is no inter-relationship between function of sensory process and preference of what children want to play, however certain games relevantly show the inter-relationship. The research provides the basic data of what the preference of what children want to play and determine what children can play during occupational therapy with plays after studying inter-relationship of school ages'ability of sensory process and games.
