  • Most of experimental films have different visual techniques and aesthetic values compared to those of narrative films. This difference makes it difficult to understand experimental films. In order to understand in what ways the experimental film has broken with the convention of narrative film, it is important to examine certain structure of experimental film. The important aspect of many experimental films is the way that they have altered the nature of narrative by changing the way that we perceive the succession of image. In particular, The tradition of American Sturcture film has been the contribution of the experimental film to expand the limits of this rule system and evolve a more personal and organic approach to the continuum of film. This approach has been a method of understanding experimental films and still a useful aesthetic tools both reading personal films and making innovative works.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the role of dragging in dynamic geometry environments. Dragging is a kind of dynamic representations that dynamically change geometric figures and enable to search invariances of figures and relationships among them. In this study dragging in dynamic geometry environments is divided by three perspectives: dynamic representations, instrumented actions, and affordance. Following this review, six conclusions are suggested for future research and for teaching and learning geometry in school geometry as well: students' epistemological change of basic geometry concepts by dragging, the possibilities to converting paper-and-pencil geometry into experimental mathematics, the role of dragging between conjecturing and proving, geometry learning process according to the instrumental genesis perspective, patterns of communication or discourse generated by dragging, and the role of measuring function as an affordance of DGS.

  • Recently both the importance and the interests of field-experience learning have kept increasing since the Education of Ministry encourages students to take a field-experience learning with the self-driven and creative education as the main issue in the 7th revised education curriculum in 2009. As the importance of field-experience learning goes up continuously, not only the release of its related mobile applications is increasing, but also a variety of researches for supporting the field-experience learning are ongoing. In this research we perform two things. First, we define the basic concept of authoring tool for which support the field-experience learning based on its characteristics and user requirements analysis. We confirmed that the authoring tool for the field-experience learning has to 1) support all activities that happen in pre-field, field-experience and post-field phases, 2) be possible to write the location-based field work, 3) have the authoring function which reflects the characteristics of curriculum such as history, science and geography, etc. that the field learning can be realized, 4) be designed as the structure that the results of inquiring activity after the field experience activity can be reused. Second, we create a conceptual design after confirming the authoring tool.

  • Cyclodextrins are a class of oligosaccharides having an extremely low toxicity, so that they have been used for the formation of host-guest complexes and removal of toxic gases or molecules. In this study, the subtle phenomenon associated with the formation of host-guest complexes between cyclodextrin and toxic molecules (methyl paraben) was experimentally investigated. First, the formation of cyclodextrin-methyl paraben complexes was monitored by UV/Vis spectroscopy as a function of the cyclodextrin concentration. Secondly, the electrochemical measurement was performed with the surface engineered Au electrode having cyclodextrin molecules on the Au substrate. The sensing signal derived from the addition of methyl paraben solution into the Au surface was measured delicately. This study can be informative for future applications such as sensors.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effects of perceived risk and brand attitude on licensing brands comparing with non-licensed brands(virtual brand). Data was collected through a self-administered questionnaire in quasi-experimental design setting. I designed the experimental setting that there were two virtual companies to sell the luxury bags(symbolic goods) or cruise tour(experiential goods) and to launch their goods with own brand or licensed brand. The experimental groups were composed of women consumers who were familiar with consuming experiential goods and symbolic goods. Results from the experiment suggest that consumer's perceived risk on brands gives a negative impact on brand attitude. And congruence in goods types and licensed brand values leads to difference in the level of perceived risk. In experiential goods, brand licensing from famous and experiential brands can reduce perceived risk. But in symbolic goods, brand licensing effect which reduces the perceived risk is less effective than in experiential goods. This findings suggest that brand licensing may lower the level of consumer's perceived risk, but incongruity in goods type and brand value may result in strategic failure.

  • Considering the recent trend highlighting the importance of STEAM education, the purpose of this study is to develop scientific research activities and STEAM technology material using the smart device sensor. Drawing a picture on a map with GPS drawing application which contains elements such as IT, geographic information, sports and arts, we intent not just to install a smartphone application but also to get synergic effects and help with real cartography and geographic classes which are not experienced in the middle school curriculum, by using the functions of a smart device. Through the development of STEAM teaching material, we intended to provide a clear direction towards advancement by developing creative teaching data and teaching models which encourage students to improve their interest and creativity in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

  • It is increasingly clear that student mastery of concepts and skills in geographic education is based on a complex set of variables. Sex and gender are the key variables. Much has been written about biological sex differences in learning, but less attention has been paid to the impacts of socio-cultural gender on learning geography. As such, the aims of this paper are two-fold. First, to examine theories which seek to explain why males and females might differ in their geographic and spatial knowledge or skill. Second, to examine the extent of sex differences and gender traits in the geographic learning. The results of study illustrate clearly that there are more similarities than differences between the sexes. Therefore, there are significant gender differences between the preferences of regions, contents, activities in the secondary geographic learning. The results also provide insights into improving contents and method of geographic education.

  • This study presents modified microfluidic picoinjector combined Faraday moat with silver nanoparticle electrode to increase electrical efficiency and fabrication yield. We perform simple dropping procedure of silver nanoparticles near the picoinjection channel, which solve complicate fabrication process of electrode deposition onto the microfluidic picoinjector. Based on this approach, the microfluidic picoinjector can be reliably operated at 180 V while conventional Faraday moat usually have performed above 260 V. Thus, we can reduce the operation voltage and increase safety. Furthermore, the microfluidic picoinjector is able to precisely control injection volume from 7.5 pL to 27.5 pL. We believe that the microfluidic picoinjector will be useful platform for microchemical reaction, biological assay, drug screening, cell culture device, and toxicology.

  • In this study, we suggest the standards for future mathematics classroom from environment, teachers, and students aspects. Future mathematics classroom should have the three environmental standards that perform responsible roles and appropriate functions of physical resources and classroom space. In the teacher standards' domain, we presented as a total of eight kinds. Concretely, we proposed the four standards for improvement of mathematical teacher's instructional expertise and the four standards for improvement of abilities of learners. The students standards consist of 4 domain a such as 3 standards of mathematical investigation and problem solving, 3 standards of cooperation and communication, 1 standard of utilization and operation of mathematical technologies and learning support systems, 2 standard of digital ethics and citizenship. Also, we developed the mathematical convergence instruction model and reported the results of its application after the lessons conducted in the classroom equipped with advanced environmental and technologies. We presented the convergence instruction model and scenarios focused on thoughts and actions of teachers and students in the future mathematics classroom.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a block type smart classroom model for comprehensive supply of educational contents, classroom environment and ICT technology in African countries where educational infrastructure is weak. It will provide a contextual solution that integrates learning management, power management, and classroom environment management systems, and will be a convergence model that can optimize economic and non-economic conditions for different African countries. It can be expected to enhance utilization as it is a differentiated model from existing classrooms with a single container, as well as independent research and development centered on services, content, and solutions. Through this integrated research process, we can overcome the spatial and functional limitations appearing in single container classrooms and build a flexible space for advanced e-learning technology. The depth and scope of the follow-up study can be carried by investigating the performance and models that are in line with the educational and infrastructure conditions of the various regions.
