  • The purpose of this study was to find out some factors affecting the social prejudice perceived by people with psychiatric disability(PPD) and to present some useful explanations for those effects based on theories from symbolic interactionism. The hypotheses were as follow. First, the higher the symptoms, the higher will be the perceived social prejudice of PPD. Second, if PPD have vocational roles, the perceived prejudice will be lower. Third, if PPD want more services or supports for vocational rehabilitation, the perceived prejudice will be higher. Fourth, the higher the perceived prejudice of family members, the higher will be the perceived prejudice of PPD. The results show that the major hypotheses were supported. Based on the results some theoretical and clinical implications are discussed. First, this study made a little contribution to the study of perceived social prejudice of PPD providing some useful theoretical basis and empirical evidences. Secondly, due to the limitation of the data and cross-sectional research the results of this study need to be duplicated under more rigorous experimental or quasi-experimental study. Concerning the clinical intervention, it should be stressed to provide valued social roles to help PPD protect themselves from social prejudices. Secondly, rehabilitation professionals need to help PPD cope with increasing perceived prejudice while pursuing valued social roles such as employee. Third, rehabilitation professionals should assess the perceived prejudice of family members and to help them resist social prejudices through education, self-help groups, and other advocating strategies. Lastly, professionals should be carful not to blame family members for the adverse effects of their perceived prejudice on PPD.

Through pre & post-questionnaire, and the interviews with the students' work, job recognition with job value and job prejudice, self-understanding and career attitude were analyzed. As follows. First, students' job recognition was expanded. The ability to identify the needs, values and purposes of jobs has improved. Changes in job values that all jobs are worth have occurred and job bias has changed. Second, the career attitude changed on the basis of self-understanding. • In this paper, the life of Emmy Noether is reviewed in context of today's society where progress in social and educational equality for women have not significantly impacted the participation of women mathematician at the highest level of mathematics study. Recent studies have shown that there is little or no gender difference in mathematics performance if the women are treated equally in the country. Yet, the number of women scientists/mathematicians at the university level or related research centers are very low for all countries including the U.S. as well as Korea. Emmy Noether became a mathematician in early 20th century Germany where women were discouraged(not allowed) from even studying mathematics at the University. She overcame gender, racial, and social prejudices of the time to become one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century as a founding contributor of Abstract Algebra. Overcoming all the difficulties to focus on the study of mathematics to contribute at the highest level of mathematics provides an example of leadership for both men and women that is relevant today. Especially for women, Emmy Noether's life is a study in perseverance for the love of mathematics that proves that there is no gender difference even at the highest level of mathematics.

The total of 281 copies were used for analysis. Statistical analysis was performed using PASW Statistics 18.0 at the 5% significance level. T-test, ANOVA, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analyses were applied in this analysis. The results were as follows: 1. As for intention of career discontinuity by general characteristics, there were statistically significant difference according to age, duration of employment, children, children age and monthly income (p<0.05). 2. As for intention of career discontinuity by job awareness, there were statistically significant difference according to turnover, work-life, retirement age of dental hygienist, duration of job maintenance and re-employment of dental hygienist (p<0.05). 3. As for hierarchical regression analysis of the factors affecting the intention of career discontinuity, the support from employer had most significant influence on intention of career discontinuity (p<0.05). In order to decrease the career discontinuity among dental hygienists, plans that can increase the work-environment should be implemented by improving support from employer.

With the knowledge they have learned, it helps them to find their interests and aptitudes when they graduate. The government is putting a lot of effort into clarifying the goal accomplishment and the vision proposals of vocational schools, and the structure-oriented guidance controlled by the government is thought to be very influential to the social structure and individual perceptions. Social stereotypes(discrimination) and perceptions that can be the core of a social structure need to be transformed for people to be fulfilled in their careers in the upcoming advanced Korean society. The important solution is to form correct values and a system of career selection which can ensure a stable future for students. Therefore, to carry out research regarding training human resources in terms of students from vocational schools' landscape architecture majors in an approaching method with a new perspective, we analyzed education plans from vocational schools in 11 regions, textbooks used in common, governmental publications regarding career education policies of vocational schools and questionnaires from students who are majoring in landscape architecture at vocational schools. As a result, we were able to find out the types and the frequencies of career-occupation education at each school through analysis of education plans and the necessity to control the amount and the level of the contents for high school students to have careers in analyzing textbooks. In addition, in Ministry of Education, Science and Technology's analyzing career education policies of vocational schools, we figured out the government's policies and directions of training. From the questionnaires from students majoring in landscape architecture, we were able to compare and analyze the satisfaction level of students on career education(education plans), textbooks, governmental career policies and career selection.

  • This study is focused on the trends in education and polices for women in Korea. First, historical background of education for women in Korea revealed that a biased view of education for women was deeply rooted. Next, several findings such as international comparison of performance on the PISA, TIMSS, and National Assessment including gender differences especially in Mathematical and Science performance were analyzed. In international assessments, female students perform better in reading literacy, but still fall behind male students in mathematical and scientific literacy, and the gap between the genders are wider than most OECD countries. The change in status of women in contemporary Korea is examined focusing on educational system and women's educational and vocational performance, etc. Additionally, policies planned by Ministry of Science and Technology which show the many execution plans for training and supporting female professionals were presented. Finally, possible reasons for gender differences in educational performance is examined and some suggestions are provided to reduce the gender gap in mathematical and scientific literacy of Korean students.
