Background: It is important to provide health education to students to ensure a healthy life. Using the internet for health education may be a way to overcome the practical barriers to health education such as time and content. This study was conducted to investigate the demands for health education using the internet. Subjects and methods: Six hundreds and twenty-four and male female students in middle and high schools, who lived on Gyeongju-si and Seongju-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do province, were interviewed by means of structured questionnaires, from March 5 to March 28, 2003. Results: More than 90% of the subjects had their own computers, and nearly 38% of those possessing their own computers had accessed internet sites related to health and medicine. Middle school students and in particular, female students were more desirous for health education through e-mail. Regarding content, the three major topics which the respondents wanted to learn about were healthy lifestyles, growth and development, and disease prevention. In terms of the interval for providing educational materials, over half of the students wanted information once a week. Most of the students wanted to have the quantity of the material be one page. In addition, there were numerous additional topics requested by the students such as sleep and health, contraception and family planning, safety education, cancer prevention, emotional instability of juveniles, the utilization of medical care facilities, stress management, etc. Conclusion: The students had a desire for health education through the use of e-mail, and methods and materials should be developed for appropriate health education using the internet.

This study was purposed on revealing the connections between blood types and brain functions or correlation character among Junior and Highschool students. Observed records are from those kids who volunteered for KRIJUS(Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2005 to December 2008. The whole 2208 Junior and Highschool studentskids group consists of junior 628 female, 1002 male and high 213 female, 365 male. Blood types are as follows A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. Second, blood type had no relations with corelation character. Third, blood type had no relations with brain function rate. Thus, it would not be such a wise decision to tell one's character depending on his/her blood type.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, motivation proposed by self-determination theory and academic achievement and to confirm the relative predictive power of motivation variables in predicting 480 middle/high students' achievement. The instruments used in this study were 'Self-efficacy' and 'Self - regulation' scale. The data were analyzed with Pearson correlations and multiple regression (stepwised) analysis. The correlations among self-efficacy, self-determination motivation and academic achievement were significant. The variables among self-determination were correlated to academic achievement in middle school. Among the variables of self-determination motivation, identified regulation, Integrated regulation and intrinsic regulation were positively related to academic achievement in high school but amotivation was negatively related to academic achievement. Self-control efficacy and self-confidence were the significance predictor of academic achievement in middle school. Hard-task preference and self-control efficacy were the significance predictor of academic achievement in high school students. Introjected-regulation was the best predictor of academic achievement in middle school. Identified-regulation was the best predictor of academic achievement in high school.
This study aims to confirm the dual mediating effect of gratitude and mindfulness in the relationship between grit and flourishing in middle and high school students and to provide basic data that can improve flourishing. The study subjects were middle and high school students who were selected from a city in South Chungcheong Province, and data were collected through a survey. For data analysis, SPSS PC+ Win. ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2 were utilized. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and dual mediation effect analysis techniques. First, correlation analysis showed that there was a significant and positive correlation between grit, gratitude, mindfulness, and flourishing and the highest correlation between gratitude and mindfulness. Second, gratitude and mindfulness had a serial dual mediating effect in the link between grit and flourishing in middle and high school students. These results can be used as a new model to improve flourishing by utilizing positive psychological variables such as grit, gratitude, and mindfulness for middle and high school students.
This study was performed to investigate added sugar intakes from processed food-snacks and participation behaviors of special event days sharing sweet foods among adolescents in Korea. Questionnaire survey (n = 959), dietary survey (n = 71) by food record method for 3 days, and snack survey (n = 230) for 3 days were carried out, and subjects were overlapped among three surveys. As a result, middle school students (MS) preferred milks and fermented milks while high school students (HS) preferred breads and fast foods as a snack (p < 0.01). MS and HS took snacks three to six times a week, and HS took snacks more frequently than MS (p < 0.05). Most subjects participated in special event days sharing sweet foods such as friend's birthday (68.4%), Peppro's day (61.5%) and Valentine's day (42.6%). As for merits of these events, MS said ‘they could get along with their friends' and ‘relieve stress', while HS said ‘they could enjoy their own events' and ‘confess their affection to whom they like' (p < 0.01). A group of cookies, biscuits, breads and, cakes was major source of added sugars followed by beverages, sweet jellies of red bean, chocolates and candies for subjects. For MS and HS, daily total added sugar intakes from whole processed food-snacks were $30.5{\pm}23.5g/d$ (3.0-137.9 g/d) and $31.7{\pm}23.2g/d$ (1.2-126.1 g/d), and ratios of daily total energy taken from added sugars of whole processed food-snacks in proportion to daily total energy taken from diet (energy percent of added sugars from snacks) were $6.3{\pm}4.7%$ (0.6-26.1%) and $6.3{\pm}4.4%$ (0.3-23.9%), respectively. These results showed that subjects frequently participated in special event days sharing sweet foods. In addition, energy percent of added sugars from snacks was more than the UL suggested by WHO/FAO for some subjects. Therefore, it is highly critical to monitor adolescents' sugar intakes on a long-term basis and to take nutritional management on their high sugar intakes.
The purpose of this study was to compare science teachers' perceptions with students' perceptions about the important aims of laboratory activities in science instructions, to identify whether there was a difference between them. For the purpose, the two questionnaires were designed; for secondary science teacher and secondary student. The samples selected in each group were 108 middle school teachers, 109 middle school students, 104 high school teachers, and 110 high school students. The survey responses from each group were analyzed through multiple response method. The results indicated that science teachers selected the science process skills as important aim of laboratory activity whereas students selected the ability for creative problem-solving and the central tendency of teachers' responses about certain item-science process skill was relatively higher than students' responses about certain item-the ability for creative problem-solving. From these results, we found there was the difference between teachers' perception and students perception about the important aims of laboratory activities in science instructions.
This study aims to explore how to improve students' rights based on their age and development stages. To this end, we analyzed a survey that had been carried out with 1,065 students from elementary, middle and high schools in 2 most populated counties in Korea, focusing on the differences in their perception with regard to the right to survive, develop, be protected and participate. The result of the analysis showed that high school students' sense of rights was at the lowest in general, while being particularly low in their sense of participation rights. However, when it comes to the development rights and protection rights, the level of recognition of middle school students were as low as those of high school students. Based on the results, we suggested that a proactive effort to guarantee adolescents' participation rights is required, and that education of human rights should be emphasized not only for children but also for their supporters. In the follow-up study, it is required to investigate the differences between development stages and regions by including participants with diverse ages and residential areas.
The purposes of this study were to measure resilience, major satisfaction and employment preparation of technical high school students, and to analyze the structural relationship among resilience, major satisfaction and employment preparation of them. The population was technical high school students. The study was carried out through questionnaire survey method. The survey questionnaire was sent by mail. A survey questionnaire consists of 38 items. 391 questionnaires were used for analysis. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. And the data was analyzed by using structural equation modeling to examine structural relationship. The results of this study were as follows: First, resilience of technical high school students was high. In the domain of resilience, 'diversity of interest' was the highest, and 'emotional management' was the lowest. And resilience of meister high school students was higher than that of specialized high school students. Resilience of male students was higher than that of female students. Second, major satisfaction of them was moderate. In the domain of major satisfaction, 'major prospect' was the highest, and 'satisfaction of societal dimensions' was the lowest. And major satisfaction of meister high school students was higher than that of specialized high school students. Major satisfaction of male students was higher than that of female students. Third, employment preparation of technical high school students was moderate. In the domain of employment preparation, 'employment attitude' was the highest, and 'job performance competency' and 'employment information' were moderate. And employment preparation of meister high school students was higher than that of specialized high school students. Employment preparation of male students was higher than that of female students. Forth, resilience of technical high school students had a positive effect on employment preparation. Also major satisfaction of them had a positive direct effect on employment preparation. And the mediating effect of major satisfaction was significant in pathway from resilience to employment preparation. Lastly, a multi-group analysis by school type revealed that the mediation effect of major satisfaction did not differ by school type.
A study on the seafood consumption was conducted from 1902 adolescent students (1110 boys and 792 girls) attending middle or high school to assess the attitude and degree of satisfaction for seafood being served in the school lunch program and ultimately to promote greater seafood consumption. A self-administered questionnaire was used to record the results. The results were as follows: Sixty percent of the respondents appeared to like or not to be reluctant to seafood. The main reasons for favoring seafood were its nutritious effect and taste. On the other hand, the reason for disliking seafood was due to its peculiar smell. In terms of cooking methods, the subjects preferred raw, fried, and grilled seafdod, whereas they disliked salt-fermented, seasoned and stewed dishes. The highly preferred seafood were crab, shrimp, tuna and squid. Only 6.6% of middle school students (MS) and 3.7% of high school students (HS) liked the seafood served in school lunch program, whereas the others responded 'so so'or disliked it. The reasons for disliking seafood being served in school lunch program were poor taste (14.7% of MS, 23.5% of HS), lack of freshness(6.3% of MS, 13.9% of HS) and unattractable cooking methods(3.4% of MS, 11.1% of HS). To promote seafood consumption in school lunch program, subjects anticipated the taste improvement (37.7% of MS, 48.5% of HS), use of a variety of seafood (19.8% of MS, 24.0% of HS) and cooking methods(12.6% of MS, 22.4% of HS). Above results suggested that further efforts are needed to provide preferred cooking methods and seafood items as a way of increasing seafood acceptability.

In spite of the benefits of field studies, field surveys have not well performed in secondary school. Although many field sites have been developed lately, most field guidebooks describe the geological formations at the outcrops professionally so they can not be used by secondary school students. It is necessary to develop the field study program with which earth science teachers can do field activities easily rather than the one of a highly technical nature.
