  • In order to help them to use the Internet properly, a study on development and application of Internet-addiction healing program using video communications was conducted and proved fruitful. The eight-session program was performed on students categorized into the high risk group for about three weeks(three times a week). After the completion of the program, the students took a self-test and the changes of the scores were analyzed. Furthermore, qualitative analysis was performed on counseling process to compensate for the reliability reduction posed by limited sampling. This study can be summarized as follows. First, the symptoms of teen Internet addiction were alleviated. The effectiveness of the application of the program was verified by the fact that all the subjects were categorized into the general user group from the high risk group. Second, in the six sub-regions of the Internet-addiction self-testing, the scores changed positively. Third, the students were actively engaged in the counseling process due to the fact that the Internet addiction healing program by means of video communications had aroused their interests.

  • This study aimed to compare Psycho-social Well-being depending on level of internet addiction and investigate the factors inducing internet addiction among 749 college students. The Internet Addiction Diagnosis Criterion Inventory was used to classify participants into two groups, Internet overuse and Internet normal use. The psychosocial well-being of each group was measured by hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health. Data were analyzed using the t-test and $x^2$-test to compare general characteristics, level of internet addiction and psycho-social well-being between two groups(the overuse and normal use group). Moreover, logistic regression analysis was used to examine the factors inducing internet addiction. The results placed 82 people (10.9%) in the internet overuse group and 667 people(89.1%) in the internet normal use group. The internet overuse group showed higher level of hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health scores than the internet normal use group. Therefore, people in the internet overuse group were more likely to have worse Psycho-social well-being. The results of this study recommend that the Internet overuse should be screened early because it can be useful in developing addiction prevention programs and then finally improving the psycho-social well-being.

  • This paper is about an analysis of the result of the survey which is how the use of smartphone affects the creative personality, focused on 4th and 6th grade in Elementary school, by smartphone addiction self-diagnosis and creative personality test. As a result of the analysis, 6th graders were influenced by their possession of smartphone and the degree of one's smartphone addiction on their creative personality. However, the usage period of smartphone did not turn out to affect their creative personality. In addition, none of the factors above, related to students' smartphone usage, influenced the creative personality of 4th graders. Particularly, there was a negative correlation between the level of students' smartphone addiction and the creative personality and it was found that whether the students own a smartphone or not played a crucial role in creative personality rather than the usage period of smartphone. Therefore, students should be properly educated how to use smartphone appropriately and to prevent them from smartphone addiction in order to improve creative personality which is one of the core competences in 21st century.

  • As teenagers' Internet use increases and Internet takes an important part in their everyday lives, many people become concerned with Internet addiction. In this study, I attempt to analyze the current status of teenagers' Internet addiction using an evaluation tool developed for students, and to compare elementary students' Internet addiction level with secondary students. Also I analyze factors affecting Internet addiction. For the analysis, 18 variables are selected from the areas such as demographic background, the experience of Internet use, family-related traits and social activities. A survey was conducted to 1,155 elementary students and 1,822 secondary students selected from nationwide schools. The main finding of this study is that among the elementary students 5.0% of the sample students are in the stage of serious addiction, and 19.7% in the stage of early addiction. In addition, the level of elementary students' Internet addiction is significantly higher than the level of secondary students. Also, the degree of elementary students' Internet addiction is significantly affected by some factors such as gender, surfing time, surfing purpose, satisfaction with parental relationship, parents' interference in Internet use, conversation frequency among family members, and satisfaction with school life.
