Development of the Ice Machine Condition Monitoring System for Remote Diagnosis (원격진단을 위한 제빙기 상태 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed the ice machine conditions monitoring system that confirms conditions of the ice machine. The developed system is composed of Communication Board, Server Program, and Web-based User Application. Communication Board which is connected to the ice machine periodically sends various data, such as current, voltage, the refrigerant pressure and temperature, the external temperature and humidity. Server Program stores the data received from Communication Board into database. The manager or the ice machine operator can see the state of the own machine through User Application based on Web. When a symptom is detected on the ice machine, the manager and the operator can checks the current condition of the ice machine by using the data obtained in real time and also prevents the machine troubles by taking proper actions.

  • 군사적, 산업적 용도로 널리 활용되고 있는 적외선 검출기는 InSb, HgCdTe(MCT)와 같은 물질들을 감지 소자로 사용하고 있다. 현재 가장 많이 사용되는 MCT는 적외선의 전 영역을 감지할 수 있는 장점이 있지만, 대면적 제작이 어려운 단점이 있다. 이에 비해 InSb는 안정적인 재료의 특성, 높은 전하이동도($1.2\times10^6\;cm^2/Vs$) 그리고 대면적 소자 제작의 가능성 등이 높게 평가되어 차세대 적외선 검출소자로 각광 받고 있다. InSb 적외선 수광 소자는 1970년대부터 미국을 중심으로 이온주입, MOCVD 또는 MBE와 같은 다양한 공정을 이용하여 제작되어 왔으며, 앞으로도 군수용 제품을 비롯하여 산업전반에서 더욱 각광을 받을 것으로 예상된다. 하지만 InSb는 77 K에서 0.225 eV의 상대적으로 작은 밴드갭을 갖고 있기 때문에 누설전류로 인한 성능저하가 고질적인 문제로 대두되었고, 이를 해결하기 위한 고품질 절연막 연구가 InSb 적외선 수광 소자 연구의 주요 이슈 중 하나가 되어왔다. PECVD, photo-CVD, anodic oxidation 등의 공정을 이용하여 $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$, 양극산화막(anodic oxide) 등 다양한 물질들에 대한 연구가 진행되었고[1,2], 산화막과 반도체 계면에서의 열확산을 억제하여 계면트랩밀도를 최소화하기 위한 연구도 활발히 이루어졌다[3]. 하지만 InSb 소자의 성능개선을 위한 최적화된 산화막에 대한 연구는 여전히 불충분한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 n형 (100) InSb 기판 (n = 0.2 ~ $0.85\times10^{15}cm^{-3}$ @ 77 K)을 이용하여 양극산화막, $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$ 등을 증착하고 절연막으로서 이들의 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 양극산화막은 상온에서 1 N KOH 용액을 이용하여 양극산화법으로 증착하였으며, $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$는 PECVD로 $150^{\circ}C$에서 $300^{\circ}C$까지 온도를 변화시켜가며 증착하였다. SEM분석과 XPS분석으로 두께의 균일도와 절연막의 조성, 계면확산 정도를 확인하였으며, I-V와 C-V 커브측정을 통해 각 절연막의 전기적 특성을 평가하였다. 이 분석들을 통해 각각의 공정 조건에 따른 절연막의 상태를 전기적 특성과 관련지어 설명할 수 있었다.

Design of a High-Performance Match-Line Sense Amplifier for Selective Match-Line charging Technique (선택적 매치라인 충전기법에 사용되는 고성능 매치라인 감지 증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed an MLSA(Match-line Sense Amplifier) for low-power CAM(Content Addressable Memory). By using the MLSA and precharge controller, we reduced power consumption during CAM operation by employing a selective match-line charging technique to mitigate power consumption caused by mismatch. Additionally, we further reduced power consumption due to leakage current by terminating precharge early when a mismatch occurs during the search operation. The designed circuit exhibited superior performance compared to the existing circuits, with a reduction of 6.92% and 23.30% in power consumption and propagation delay time, respectively. Moreover, it demonstrated a significant decrease of 29.92% and 52.31% in product-delay-product (PDP) and energy-delay-product (EDP). The proposed circuit was validated using SPECTRE simulation with TSMC 65nm CMOS process.

Electrical Fire Disaster Prevention Device of Double Protection using a High Precision Current Sensor in Low Voltage Distribution System (고정밀 전류센서를 이용한 저압배전계통 이중 보호용 전기화재 방재장치)

  • Nowadays the diversity and large-capacity of electric appliances are strong effect on electrical fires augment in an alarming way. But, as the inactive response characteristics of the existing RCD (Residual Current protective Device) used on low voltage power distribution system, so control of overload and electric short circuit faults, major causes of electrical fires, are not enough. Therefore, this paper is confirmed the unreliability of the existing RCD by electrical fault simulator and is proposed a Electrical Fire Disaster Prevention Device (EFDPD) by using a high precision current sensor (namely, reed switch) for the prevention of electrical disasters in low voltage power distribution system caused by overload or electric short circuit faults. The sensitive reed switch in the proposed EFDPD exactly detects the increased magnetic flux with the overload or the short current caused by a number of electrical faults, and the following, the EFDPD has double protection function which operates self circuit breaker or rapidly cuts off the existing RCD. The proposed EFDPD is confirmed the excellent characteristics in response velocity and accuracy in comparison with the conventional circuit breaker through various operation performance analysis. The proposed EFDPD can also prevent electrical disaster, like as electrical fires, which resulted from the malfunction and inactive response characteristics of the existing RCD.

All Optical Wavelength Converters Based on XGM for Wide Input Power Dynamic Range (넓은 입력 다이너믹 영역을 가지는 상호이득변조 방식의 전광 파장전환기)

  • In this letter, a scheme for increasing the input power dynamic range of wavelength converters based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA/s) is proposed. We investigate the effect of input pump and probe powers on the power penalty, the measure of performance for the wavelength converters. As a result, we show that the optimal bit error rate (BER) performance can be obtained when the probe power is kept 3 dB weaker than the pump power. Using this characteristic, we propose the wavelength converter scheme that controls the probe power level by monitoring the input pump power and adjusting the bias current of probe source accordingly. Consequently, the wavelength converter for wide input power dynamic range can be implemented. We show that an input power dynamic range of more than 20 dB at 2.5 Gb/s is achievable.

A low noise PLL with frequency voltage converter and loop filter voltage detector (주파수 전압 변환기와 루프 필터 전압 변환기를 이용한 저잡음 위상고정루프)

  • This paper presents a jitter and phase noise characteristic improved phase-locked loop (PLL) with loop filter voltage detector(LFVD) and frequency voltage converter(FVC). Loop filter output voltage variation is determined through a circuit made of resistor and capacitor. The output signal of a small RC time constant circuit is almost the same as to loop filter output voltage. The output signal of a large RC time constant circuit is the average value of loop filter output voltage and becomes a reference voltage to the added LFVD. The LFVD output controls the current magnitude of sub-charge pump. When the loop filter output voltage increases, LFVD decreases the loop filter output voltage. When the loop filter output voltage decreases, LFVD increases the loop filter output voltage. In addition, FVC also improves the phase noise characteristic by reducing the loop filter output voltage variation. The proposed PLL with LFVD and FVC is designed in a 0.18um CMOS process with 1.8V power voltage. Simulation results show 0.854ps jitter and 30㎲ locking time.

Improvement of Naval Combat System UPS under Abnormal Transients (비정상 과도상태에서의 해군 전투체계 UPS 개선)

  • This paper addresses an improved naval combat UPS(Uninterruptable Power Supply) system under abnormal transients. Previously, thermistor and varistor elements were used to cope with transient overvoltage and overcurrent, however the UPS was frequently unavailable because it was vulnerable to abnormal transient voltage generated during system operation. In order to overcome this problem and protect UPS system, this paper proposes an input power cut-off circuit that detects the initial input power and abnormal transient voltage generated during operation, improvement of power control sequence, and a method to prevent malfunction of an inverter and CPU. The UPS system implementing the proposed method was simulated by input power variable test using programmable AC/DC generator, and finally validated its reliability and stability through field tests by mounting on multifunctional console of naval combat system.

Low-Power 4th-Order Band-Pass Gm-C Filter for Implantable Cardiac Pacemaker (이식형 심장 박동 조절 장치용 저 전력 4차 대역통과 Gm-C 필터)

  • Low power consumption is crucial for medical implantable devices. A low-power 4th-order band-pass Gm-C filter with distributed gain stage for the sensing stage of the implantable cardiac pacemaker is proposed. For the implementation of large-time constants, a floating-gate operational transconductance amplifier with current division is employed. Experimental results for the filter have shown a SFDR of 50 dB. The power consumption is below $1.8{\mu}W$, the power supply is 1.5 V, and the core area is $2.4\;mm{\times}1.3\;mm$. The filter was fabricated in a 1-poly 4-metal $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process.

Current Sensing Circuit of MOSFET Switch for Boost Converter (부스터 변환기를 위한 MOSFET 스위치 전류 감지 회로)

  • In this paper, a high voltage current sensing circuit for boost converter is designed and verified by Cadence SPECTRE simulations. The current mirror pair, power and sensing metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) with size ratio of K, is used in our on-chip current sensing circuit. Very low drain voltages of the current mirror pair should be matched to give accurate current sensing, so a folded-cascode opamp with a PMOS input pair is used in our design. A high voltage high side lateral-diffused MOS transistor (LDMOST) switch is used between the current sensing circuit and power MOSFET to protect the current sensing circuit from the high output voltage. Simulation results using 0.35 ${\mu}m$ BCD process show that current sensing is accurate and the pulse frequency modulation (PFM) boost converter using the proposed current sensing circuit satisfies with the specifications.

Distributed State Estimation Algorithm for Power Distribution System (배전계통을 위한 분산형 상태추정 알고리즘)

  • 배전계통 상태추정이란 배전계통을 운영하고 제어하기 위하여 모선전압, 선로조류, 모선부하와 같은 상태변수들의 측정된 값을 이용하여 여러가지 운영에 필요한 정보를 활용하고 배전계통으로부터 측정치에 기초하여 미지의 상태변수들을 추정하는 것이다. 변전소 제어센터에 있는 SCADA 시스템은 실시간으로 배전계통을 모니터링하고 제어하기 위하여 전력계통을 주기적으로 스캔하고 엄청난 양의 데이터를 획득하여 처리한다. 이들 측정값들은 유효전력, 무효전력, 전압, 전류, 스위치나 차단기의 상태들이다. 이들 데이터들은 중앙전력계통 제어센터나 지역제어센터로부터 산발되어 있는 정보를 대부분 RTU를 통하여 획득하게 된다. 이러한 이유로 배전계통의 상태추정은 송전계통과는 달리 배전계통 자체가 토폴로지상으로 산발되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 대규모이기 때문에 분산형으로 구성하여 처리하는 알고리즘을 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 배전계통에 대한 분산형 상태추정기의 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다.
