  • This study aimed to identify the factors influencing depression in adults with physical disabilities through a secondary data analysis. The study analyzed data from 867 adults who reported having physical disabilities in the 2018 Panel Survey on Disability conducted by the Korea Disabled People's Development Institute. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were performed using SPSS 29.0 with a complex sample design. The cause of disability was acquired in 98.1% of the participants, and 53.8% of them reported experiencing depression. Self-esteem (OR=0.18, 95% CI=0.08-0.39) and disability acceptance (OR=0.17, 95% CI=0.08-0.38) were significant factors influencing depression in adults with physical disabilities. These findings suggest that interventions aimed at promoting disability acceptance and enhancing self-esteem may effectively alleviate depression in this population.

  • This thesis is an psychological study investigating the meanings of skin from the perspective of analytical psychology. Skin, as the outermost layer of our body, protects the body and carries out essential physiologic functions. It is an organ of the body and also psychological contents can be expressed on it in various forms. We can find sociocultural connotations of skin, some of which are demonstrated in our language. Skin may become a carrier of persona which defines a person's role in the society. And it can be a place where ego is expressed. Eros is the principle of relationship by Jung's definition and skin is the space where eros is realized intensely. Skin may carry meanings as a symbol of transformation. Skin disease can be interpreted as a message from Self in certain cases. The theme of casting off skin in myths and dreams can be an analogy of an individual's sacrifice for individuation, and putting on a skin may imply taking special properties in psychological level.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the importance of personal attributes as they related to developing first impressions and managing group acceptance in the context of sorority recruitment process. Specifically, we examined how certain personal characteristics of a sorority member were related to her use of a potential member's clothing and appearance as non-verbal cues during the member selection process. The characteristics identified through the literature review were materialism, fashion clothing involvement, and proximity of clothing to self. A questionnaire was distributed to members of two sorority houses at a southeastern university in the United States. A total of 140 US sorority members participated in the study. The results showed that a member's satisfaction with her chapter, her level of participation, and her length of membership in the chapter had no relation with her tendency to base her member selection on clothing and appearance. However, members' use of clothing and appearance as guiding their member selection decisions was related to other individual characteristics selected for the study(materialism, fashion clothing involvement, and proximity of clothing to self). Fashion clothing involvement and proximity of clothing to self(clothing for acceptance) were most significantly related to clothing-based member selection. Partial correlations were also produced to examine the mediating role of clothing-based impression formation.

  • This study investigates the relevance of stress, self factor and emotional factor, and the influence on Smartphone Addiction Level among college students. The survey was administered to 261 college students in J city from December 16th to 23rd, 2016. The structured self-administered questionaries were used. The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the factors with explanatory powers of 52% on Smartphone Addiction Level included physical activity changes, sleep disorders, the self control about self factors, the impulsion of emotional factors. With the analysis of covariance structure, we could confirm the relationship among the four factors such as stress, self factor, emotional factor and Smartphone Addiction Level. The results of the study indicate that the efforts to manage stress, self factors and emotional factors, are required to reduce the Smartphone Addiction Level of the college students. The results are expected to be useful for the development of programs and policy to decrease the Smartphone Addiction Level.
