Numerically Efficient Analysis of a Coaxial-fed Microstrip Patch Antenna (동축선으로 급전되는 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나의 효율적인 수치해석)

  • In this study, a numerically efficient method for the analysis of microstrip structures is considered in conjunction with the use of closed-form spatial Green's functions. As is well-known, the use of the closed-form Green's functions can reduce the evaluation time of impedance matrix elements. However the problematic aspect that in general the evaluation results of diagonal elements of the matrix converge slowly, has been observed. The main cause of the slow convergence has been due to the terms of closed-form Green's functions with small exponent. In other to resolve the problematic aspect, a method of numerical integration based on the change of variable is considered in evaluating matrix elements. The present method is applied for the analysis of a coaxial-fed microstrip antenna. When the present results are compared with the previous results in order to check the validity of the present method, fairly good agreements between them are observed.

Analysis of Microstrip Single Line, Unmitered Bend and Coupled Line Using the Multiport Network Model (Multiport network model을 이용한 마이크로스트립 단일선로;직각벤드 및 결합선로의 해석)

  • The scattering parameters of a microstrip single line, a right-angle bend and a coupled line are calculated using the multiport network model for the frequency range from 1 to 18 GHz. The single line is analyzed using the planar waveguide model. The right-angle bend is broken into two rectangular segments, and each segment is analyzed in a similar fashion as the single line. Impedance matrices corresponding to the two segments are combined by the segmentation method. In the analysis of elec- tromagnetic coupling of the coupled line, a new method is employed resulting in much less computation time than those previous methods involving Green's functions. A good agreement between the numerical results for the three structures and those from SuperCompact reveals the usefulness of the multiport network medel in analyzing complicated mirostrip single and coupled line discontinuities.

A Study on the Small Isolator Characteristics and Design of Mobile Phones (이동통신 단말기용 소형 아이솔레이터 특성 및 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, it is analyzed lumped element isolators analytically by the analysis program using scattering matrixes including ferrite saturation magnetization, external direct current magnetic field and strip line length and width, designed and experimented the small isolator of mobile phone. The simulation results show that the characteristics of the isolator are affected by external R, C, length and width of strip line and ferrite width and saturation magnetization sensitivity. We proposed the isolator specification applied cellular and PCS mobile phones, experimented the isolator for cellular mobile phones. From the experimented result, isolation and return loss are measured below 20 dB, insertion loss is below 0.7 dB, bandwidth is about 44 MHz at center frequency 836.5 KHz. The implemented isolator has better performances than the conventional one.

  • A 512-bit Task Programmable ROM has been designed and fabricated using PMOS technology. The content of the memory was written through the gate pattern during the fabrication process, and was checked by displaying the output of the chip on an oscilloscope with 512(32$\times$16) matrix points. The operation of the chip was surcessful with operating voltage from -6V to -l2V, The power consumption and propagation delay time have been measured to be 3mW and 13 $\mu$sec, respectively at -6 Volt. The power consunption increased to 27mW and propagation delay time decreased to 3$\mu$sec at -12V. The output of the chip was capable of driving the input of a TTL gate directly and retained a high impedence state when the chip solect function disabled the output.

  • The crosstalk between bent transmission lines and the effects of additional trace with the metal filled via holes on alleviating the crosstalk are investigated using the circuit concept approach for transmission line sections and impedance modeling for via hole sections. All sections are represented by ABCD matrices and then cascaded. Finally the calculated results by proposed method are confirmed that they agree with the measured results in less than 3 dB except a band of low frequency.

Design of Nonreciprocal Twin-toroidal Ferrite Phase Shifter (비가역성 쌍토로이드 페라이트 변위기 설계)

  • Nonreciprocal twin-toroid ferrite phase shifter is designed, fabricated, and tested. ABCD matrix method is used to design the phase shifter and to compute its optimum dimen- sions. Quarter-wave two-section impedance matching transformers are utilized in order to match the impedance of the empty guide to that of the ferrite-loaded guide. Driving circuit controls the current needed to drive the phase shifter. Measured insertion loss and VSWR characteristics within the operaring band(9.1GHz ~ 9.5GHz) are less than 1.2dB and 1.15, respectively. After temperature compensation technique is appied to the phase shifter, the measured phase error of the phase shifter is less than $\pm4$ between $-10^{\circ}C\;and\;+60^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, stripline circulator including a ferrite resonator which is consisted of a circular disk and two annuli disks is designed and fabricated. Using RGF(Recursive Green Function) technique, electromagnetic field of port and input impedance is presented. The circulator characteristics are compared according to the ferrite arrangement, bias field intensity and port width. The pass-band frequency of the fabricated circulator using the designed data is from 1.55 GHz to 2.95 GHz, the reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ of input port is -30 dB, and the transmission coefficient $S_{21}$ between input port and isolation port is -28 dB at resonating point 2.38 GHz.

  • 본 논문에서는 레벨셋 방법을 이용하여, 소음을 차단하기 위한 음향 구조물의 형상 최적 설계를 수행하였다. 음향 결정 구조에서는 음향이 흩어져 있는 결정 구조에 의해서 굴절되기 때문에 결정 모양을 조정함으로써, 음향 거동을 제어 할 수 있다. 형상 최적 설계의 목적은 특정한 각도와 각속도로 입사되는 입사파에 대해서 음향 투과율(acoustic transmittance)이 최소가 되도록 음향 결정의 형상(inclusion shape)을 결정하는 것이다. 음향 압력(acoustic pressure)은 주기성을 갖는 음향 결정에 대해서 헬몰츠(Helmoltz)형태의 지배 방정식을 풀어서 얻을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 음향 구조물로 결정이 수평 방향으로는 주기적으로 무한히 분포하고 수직방향으로는 유한한 층간 구조를 가지고 있는 소음 방어벽 (Noise barrier)을 고려한다. 결정의 위치는 고정되어 있고, 결정의 형상을 설계 변수로서 음파의 거동을 제어할 수 있도록 하였다. 주기적 구조물을 고려하기 때문에 결정의 좌와 우에 Bloch 이론을 적용해 주기적 경계조건을 부과하였고, 소음 방어벽 위와 아래에는 임피던스 행렬(impedance matrix)를 이용하여, 무한 균질 영역과 소음 방어벽사이의 음파 투과를 모사하였다. 복잡한 형상 변화를 표현하기 위해 임시적 경계를 이용한 레벨셋 방법을 사용하였다. 설계 민감도 해석을 통해 목적함수가 감소하는 방향으로 경계에서의 수직 벡터를 계산하고, 이를 헤밀턴-자코비(Hamilton-Jacob) 방정식에 대입하여, 최적의 형상을 나타내는 레벨셋 함수를 구하였다.

Accurate parameter extraction method for FD-SOI MOSFETs RF small-signal model including non-quasi-static effects (NQS효과를 고려한 FD-SOI MOSFET의 고주파 소신호 모델변수 추출방법)

  • An accurate and simple method to extract equivalent circuit parameters of fully-depleted silicon-on-insulator MOSFETs small-signal modeling operating at RF frequencies including the non-quasi static effects is presented in this article. The advantage of this method is that a unique and physically meaningful set of intrinsic equivalent circuit parameters is extracted by de-embedding procedure of extrinsic elements such as parasitic capacitances and resistances of MOSFETs from measured S-parameters using simple Z- and Y- matrices calculations. The calculated small-signal parameters using the presented extraction method give modeled Y-parameters which are in good agreement with the measured Y-parameters from 0.5 to 20GHz.

A Study on the Efficient Extraction of Slot Admittance for the Design of a Non-Resonant Waveguide Edge Slot Array (비공진형 협벽 도파관 슬롯 배열 설계를 위한 효율적인 슬릇 어드미턴스 추출 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, an analytic method is proposed to extract the reference slot admittance required for the design of a non-resonant waveguide edge slot array. A slot and two neighboring transmission line sections of the numerous alternately inclined slots with the identical inclination angle are modelled as a uniform lossy transmission line, and thus, the total ABCD matrix is easily calculated and compared with the simulated or measured one. From this procedure, the complex characteristic impedance and the complex propagation constant of the lossy transmission line are calculated and the normalized slot admittance is analytically obtained. In order to validate the proposed method, the admittance value of a reference slotted waveguide fabricated for designing the X-band edge slot array is extracted and it is compared with the one obtained by the other conventional method.
