A Study on the Meaning Extension of User-Centeredness in UX Design (사용자 경험 디자인의 사용자 중심성에 대한 의미 확장 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to induce meaning of the UX design from users' interview. The study covers interviews from 20 untact finance application users in their twenties in written form. It aims to examine previous studies on UX design and to overcome their shortcomings by categorizing usability qualities focusing on verbs used in the interview. The followings are the result: Usability of UX design can be summarized into Unity, Trust, Persistency, Recognition and Approachability of the information to the 20 users in their twenties. As for the data earned from interviews focusing on verbs, usability included Security, Familiarity, Accessibility, Convenience of Operation and Visibility. Each of the qualities fell into related categories such as Security, Information, Brand and Design. In conclusion, analysis based on verb choices led to better understanding of the user-based experience compared to using objective means in previous studies and can be a suggestion to make up for errors in the former evaluation process.

  • The age and physical condition of users who use public libraries are becoming diverse in recent years. The need for universal design is recognized as important to create a public library with a convenient and pleasant environment in consideration of various users. The purpose of this research is to propose the universal design application method after analyzing level of application of common spaces in public libraries. First, the environment related to 'Perceptable Information' with low level of universal design should be improved first. Second, it is important to apply it from the initial planning phase to create a more advanced universal design environment. Third, careful consideration and awareness of all users of the library should precede to engance 'Flexibility in Use' related environment.

A Study of Salty Enhanceability of Enzymatically Hydrolyzed Isolated Soy Protein (분리 대두 단백 효소가수분해물의 강도평가를 통한 짠맛증진효과 연구)

  • This study investigated the possible use of enzymatically hydrolyzed isolated soy protein (eHISP) to enhance the intensity of salty taste. The sodium chloride content of eHISP is 69.5 g/L. Yellowness (b) increased, and lightness (L) and redness (a) decreased with increasing eHISP concentration in sample solution. Also, perceived salty intensity of eHISP solution increased in sample solution with increasing added amount of eHISP with same NaCl concentration. The intensity of the salty taste was enhanced by 2-39% as the eHISP was added. The results suggest that it may be possible to reduce the content of sodium chloride in foods by enhancing the salty taste with eHISP.

Quantification on Dam Condition Related to Internal Erosion of an Embankment Dam and its Applicability Evaluation (필댐의 내부침식과 관련된 댐 상태의 정량화 및 적용성 평가)

  • The typical four conditions related to internal erosion were set from the results of the regular dam safety inspection for 17,500 dams, and a questionnaire survey was conducted for dam safety experts to quantify these four typical current dam conditions with scores between 0 and 10, respectively. In addition, we proposed 'possible score range' for each condition to minimize the decision limits for dam managers to quantify dam conditions while helping to quantify various dam conditions except 4 representative conditions. A case study based on 'quantified score' and 'possible score range' for each condition showed that this method consistently reflects the dangerousness of the dam and provides a reasonable probability of failure. This helps to overcome limitations of dam rating determination by weighted average, and it will help to evaluate dangerous dams as dangerous dams.

An Exploratory Study on the Effectiveness of Non-face-to-face Flipped Learning: Focusing Learner's Experience and Perceived Learning Achievement (비대면 플립러닝의 효과에 대한 탐색 연구: 학습자 경험 및 인지된 학습성과 분석)

  • As universities have operated non-face-to-face semesters due to COVID-19, although instructors applying flipped learning to their classes also have changed it into non-face-to-face ways, there is still a lack of exploratory research on effectiveness of the new form of flipped learning. In this study, we explored the effectiveness of the non-face-to-face flipped learning by analyzing students' learning experiences throughout FGI and survey. By doing so, we sought to provide in-depth insights for successful implications of non-face-to-face flipped learning classes ultimately. The findings showed that many learners positively evaluated non-face-to-face flipped learning in terms of interactions, including quizzes, team activities, and interpersonal interactions (e.g., Q&A, feedback) with professors in non-face-to-face flipped learning classes. The result of the survey also showed significant differences in the pre-post test regarding learner's perceived learning achievement. Based on these findings, the implications were discussed.

A Systematic Review of the Application Dual Task Assessment for Screening Mild Cognitive Impairment (경도 인지장애 선별에 적용된 이중과제 평가에 대한 체계적 고찰)

  • Purpose: This study aims to systematically review the dual-task evaluation applied to the screening of mild cognitive impairment. It also aims to present various evaluation items and results analysis methods for dual tasks applied to patients with mild cognitive impairment. Methods: We conducted a systematic search of published studies in PubMed databases and KISS from January 2000 to August 2020 using the main keywords such as "Dual task," "Mild Cognitive impairment," "Elderly," and "Screening." We selected a total of 10 studies for the analysis from 1314 searched articles. Results: We analyzed the qualitative level of 10 studies that were nonrandomized two-group studies with evidence level II (100.0%). These results suggest that the evidence level of the studies was high. We analyzed 10 studies and identified 12 motor tasks and 19 cognitive tasks. Walking was the most commonly used evaluation motor task and counting backward by ones and naming animals were the most commonly used evaluation cognitive tasks. Moreover, the velocity speed was the most used result analysis method. The results indicate that there were significant differences in dual-task performance between patients with normal and mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as a basis for the selection of dual-task evaluation items and methods of analyzing the results for screening mild cognitive impairment. Furthermore, they are expected to be used for research on the development of dual-task evaluation tools. It is necessary to compare and analyze the usage trends of dual-task evaluation by cultural differences in future studies.

The Effects of Perceived Netflix Personalized Recommendation Service on Satisfying User Expectation (지각된 넷플릭스 개인화 추천 서비스가 이용자 기대충족에 미치는 영향)

  • The OTT (Over The Top) platform promotes itself as a distinctive competitive advantage in that it allows users to stay on the platform longer and visit more often through a Personalized Recommendation Service. In this study, the characteristics of the Personalized Recommendation Service are divided into three categories: recommendation accuracy, recommendation diversity, and recommendation novelty. Then proposed a research model which affects the usefulness of users to recognize recommendation services by each characteristics and leads to satisfaction of expectations. The result of conducting an online survey of 300 people in their 20s and 30s who subscribe Netflix shows that the perceived usefulness increased when the accuracy, variety, and novelty of Netflix's Recommendation Service were high. It was also confirmed that high perceived usefulness leads to satisfaction of expectations before and after Netflix use. The derived research results can confirm the importance of evaluating the personalized recommendation service in terms of user experience and provide implications for ways to improve the quality of recommendation services.

2-Stage Detection and Classification Network for Kiosk User Analysis (디스플레이형 자판기 사용자 분석을 위한 이중 단계 검출 및 분류 망)

  • Machine learning techniques using visual data have high usability in fields of industry and service such as scene recognition, fault detection, security and user analysis. Among these, user analysis through the videos from CCTV is one of the practical way of using vision data. Also, many studies about lightweight artificial neural network have been published to increase high usability for mobile and embedded environment so far. In this study, we propose the network combining the object detection and classification for mobile graphic processing unit. This network detects pedestrian and face, classifies age and gender from detected face. Proposed network is constructed based on MobileNet, YOLOv2 and skip connection. Both detection and classification models are trained individually and combined as 2-stage structure. Also, attention mechanism is used to improve detection and classification ability. Nvidia Jetson Nano is used to run and evaluate the proposed system.

Effects of Reading Activities Using Picture Fairy Tales on Receiving Vocabulary and Expressive Vocabulary of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Residing in Facilities (그림동화를 활용한 읽기활동이 시설거주 성인 지적장애인의 수용어휘와 표현어휘에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: People with intellectual disabilities are vulnerable to the use of receptive and expressive vocabulary. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on the receptive vocabulary and the expressive vocabulary after teaching reading education to adults with intellectual disabilities living in facilities using picture fairy tales. Methods: The subjects of this study were 12 adults with intellectual disabilities under the age of 20 to 40 residing in residential facilities. They were divided into 6 test groups and 6 control groups, and gave a total of 12 sessions of 60 minutes per session, and reading instruction using picture fairy tales. Results: In the test group that conducted reading activities using picture fairy tales, the use of the receptive vocabulary was significantly improved, and the use of the expressive vocabulary was significantly improved. There were no significant results in all of the control groups. Conclusions: This study had the effect of improving the use of receptive vocabulary and expressive vocabulary after teaching reading using picture fairy tales for the disabled. It is estimated that this result will be the basis for research in this field.

  • This study is an example of a class of bibliotherapy through Lee Chung-joon's novel Snowy Road. Bibliotherapy proceeds through the process of identification, catharsis, expression, insight, and application through reading. Through research, students objectively examine the situation of the character in the novel and compare it with their own situation. Students evaluate the situation of the character in the novel, experience the various life positions of the character in the novel by answering "What would you do if I were a character in the novel," and express their willingness to live differently from their lives. At the same time, I look into my relationship with my parents and seriously think about whether there is a problem and how to solve it if there is one. Through this process, students specifically suggest ways to think about and solve their emotions and problems. In the end, students' hurt feelings can be partially or sufficiently healed through reading. Through this study, it is expected that the method of bibliotherapy will be more concrete and develop in a positive direction.
