A Cultural Product Design Development of Korean Image by the Use of Fabric Materials (섬유소재를 이용한 한국적 이미지의 문화상품 디자인개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a cultural products design of korean image using fabrics. The study is carry out in literature research methods and make sample product. We examine existing researches about cultural product design development to understand developed items, materials, and design directions. The brainstorming method and the established literature researches were used to obtain the design components of Korean image. A cultural products design was developed into the decorative structural details. The results can be summarized as follows: Korean image is pure, passive, gentle, small, and lasting life-force at weeds and wild flowers. Korean form is rounded curve and soft silhouette as streamy, not exaggerate. Korean color is not a finishing treatment, non-dyed natural color, or pastel, light greyish, and dull tone. Korean textile is a natural materials as linen, ramie, and coarse silk. Final sample products are table supplies, home goods and bed goods applying the sewing method of tuck, quilting, top-stitching, patch work, applique and embroidery.

Purchases and Satisfaction of Fashion Products Among LOHAS Consumer Segments (로하스에 따른 소비자 집단의 패션상품 구매 및 만족도)

  • This study investigates the factors of LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability), to segment consumer groups by LOHAS and identify the differences of LOHAS groups in the purchase of LOHAS fashion products. A total of 398 people aged from 20s to 50s were surveyed in September, 2009. The data were analyzed with factorial analysis, ANOVA, LSD, Chi-square, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, using the SPSS 12.0. The survey showed: 1) Seven LOHAS factors (environment preservation, family centered, pursuit of rural life, preference of environmentally friendly products, interest in health, pursuit of leisurely life, and soul & body balance), 2) LOHAS consumers were classified into five segments (health interest, well-being, LOHAS, unconcerned, and naturalist). The distribution of age level, education level, and the type of job were different among LOHAS groups; and 3) Experiences of purchasing LOHAS AS fashion products in the past and intention to purchase LOHAS fashion products in the future were different among LOHAS groups.

Structural Analysis on the Perceived Attributes of Fashion Goods (패션상품의 인지된 속성의 구조분석)

  • This article develops the perceived attributes of fashion goods and hierarchical structure among these attributes. In-depth interviews of 12 adult women in the exploratory research and a questionnaire survey of 472 adult women in the empirical research were conducted. The results of the research are as follows: First, a total of 5 perceived subjective attributes of fashion goods are composed of newness, mass fashionability, social compatibility, personal compatibility and self-expressiveness, and the dimensions of the five drawn attributes show a hierarchical causality rather than an equal level. Newness and mass fashionability, perception attributes effect social compatibility and personal compatibility as consequence attributes exert a direct influence on the self-expressiveness represented by value attributes. Personal compatibility and social compatibility as consequence attributes also directly effects self-expressiveness while mediating newness and mass fashionability.

An Analysis of Consumer Preference and Purchasing Behavior for the Character Image Used in Fashion Commodity (패션상품에 활용된 캐릭터에 대한 소비자의 선호도와 구매행동 분석)

  • This study was intended to examine the consumer preference and purchasing behavior far the character image used in fashion commodies. The subjects were 491 high school and college female students. The data were analysed using factor analysis, MANOVA, ANOVA and frequency analysis. The results of questionnaire survey were as follows; 1. Both groups of high school and college female students showed to have similar images toward 9 characters included in the study. 2. College female students had higher preference to Tweety, Bunny than high school girls. But, high school students showed higher preference for Hello Kitty, Pazama Sister's and Dalki, than college students. 3. There was no significant difference between the groups in interest, purchase intention, purchase reason, purchasing items, types of shops, and information sources. But, college students seemed to do less planned purchasing and more impulsive buying compared to high school students.

  • This study analyzed the strategic importance of fashionable products in order to increase the tourism allure of Seoul. Data were collected from the 758 foreign tourists visiting Seoul from Japan, China, and the USA. The survey was statistically analyzed by chi-square, regression, and ANOVA method. The fashionable products were found to be the most frequently shopped product category and the clothing product was identified to be the most preferred. The retail store area with the greatest market share was identified as Myundong. Product satisfaction with fashionable products is identified to have a positive relationship with tourism satisfaction and royalty to Seoul. A strategic focus on fashionable products is recommended for an increased tourism competency.

  • This paper examines Myanmar's garment industry comparative's competitiveness by selecting Korea and Japan-Myanmar's main target exporting countries for their garment industry-and China and Thailand, the neighboring countries it has continued to have business relationships with since the economic sanctions in selecting the target countries, this study presents a competitive outlook at the Myanmar garment industry's potential for the future by analyzing trade intensity per main garment product. Therefore, Korea should recognize the advantages of Myanmar, compared to other countries with similar competitiveness in the textile industry, and should develop Myanmar textile industry into a future-oriented garment industry through measures such as labor force training, scaling up both industrial relations and safety facilities, and establishing sound labor-management relations.

The Effects of Product Presentation and Background of Photos in Internet Shopping Malls on Consumer Perceptions (인터넷 의류쇼핑몰 상품 사진의 표현형식과 배경이 소비자의 지각에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined consumer responses of photos used in Internet shopping malls. The content analysis conducted a preliminary study of the top 100 online shopping malls to investigate current website practices. Stimuli based on the preliminary study. The present study was a $2{\times}2$ factorial design that evaluated two independent variables of product presentation and background. We analyzed 410 responses derived from the descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and covariance analysis through SPSS 20.0. The results showed that a product presentation was significantly different in attractiveness, informativeness, satisfaction, and repurchase intention after controlling apparel items and model. This product presentation in everyday life had greater mean values than product presentation with the posing model. The background had a significant mean difference in all consumer responses expect for attractiveness. Overall product presentation in everyday life and indoor cases were evaluated as most positive by the respondents. The findings provide practical implications for online shopping malls integrating product presentation.

A Study on the Contents and Consumers' Recognition of Clothing Product Evaluation Statements in the Internet Apparel Shopping Mall (인터넷 쇼핑몰의 의류 상품평 내용과 소비자 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze contents of clothing product evaluation statements in the internet shopping mall and to discover consumers' recognition and evaluation of it. The data were collected from 151 consumers' statements in the four internet apparel shopping malls and a questionnaire was developed to measure consumers' recognition of clothing product evaluation statements. The questionnaire was administrated 272 consumers over 18 years old. The results of this study were as follows; First, The contents of clothing product evaluation statements in the internet shopping blog, were divided into three categories which were product, service and consumer buying decision process. Product category include evaluation of clothing product, description of difference between real product and product on the screen, and advice of uses. Service category include quickness and kindness in delivery, store preference for good service. For consumer buying decision process, motivation of purchasing, perceived risk, expression of satisfaction from good buying and canvassing for purchasing were included. Second, consumer recognized that clothing product evaluation statements has function of furnishing information, confirmation of purchasing decision, risk reduction of internet shopping, and interesting entertainment. Consumers also were dependent on product evaluation statements for making purchasing decision. And it was trusted by consumers. This recognition & evaluation were correlated with consumer's clothing product knowledge, involvement, risk perception of internet shopping, experiences of internet shopping. Managerial implications are provided for internet shopping mall.

The Effect of Consumer's Objective Knowledge, Subjective Knowledge and Involvement of Apparel on Product Attribute Evaluation (소비자의 객관적 지식, 주관적 지식과 관여가 의류 상품 속성 평가에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify differences in the product attribute evaluation in relation to the objective knowledge, subjective knowledge and involvement of apparel. The measurement instruments were developed by researcher on the basis of previous studies in the same field. The subjects of this study were female adults who lived in Seoul, Kyunggi or Incheon areas and quota sampling using age and residential areas was employed. The data were obtained from 603 questionnaires. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10 and LISREL 7.0. Major statistical methods were factor analysis, Cronbach's a coefficient, multiple regression analysis, and structural equation model analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Involvement was related to the consumer knowledge and the knowledge influenced evaluation of intrinsic attributes, social attributes, and economic attributes. 2. The dimensions of objective knowledge significantly influenced intrinsic attributes and economic attributes. The dimensions of subjective knowledge significantly influenced intrinsic attributes, social attributes and economic attributes. 3. Apparel involvement significantly influenced intrinsic attributes, social attributes and economic attributes. Consumers who have higher interest in apparel product but not in trends considered intrinsic attributes more importantly, whereas consumers who care trends considered social attribute more.

The Effects of Facing Plan on Store Image and Preference of Young Casual Fashion Store (영 캐주얼 의류매장의 상품진열방법이 점포이미지와 선호도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of facing plan on store image and preference of young casual fashion store. The subjects were 545 male and female university students in Chungnam province. The measuring instruments were 7 stimuli manipulated by facing plan, an important VMD element, and self-administrated questionnaire consisted of store image, store preference and subject's demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, facing type significantly affected consumer' store image; folded type had more neat and elegant image than other facing types, and face out type had most comfort image, whereas sleeve out type had discomfort image. Second, arrangement of facing types also affected store image; style arrangement had more sophisticated image than color arrangement in sleeve out type, and vertical and horizontal arrangement had more neat, sophisticated, attractive and comfort image than separate arrangement in folded type. Third, facing type affected store preference; folded type showed higher store preference than sleeve out type. Forth, arrangement of folded type affected store preference; vertical and horizontal arrangement showed higher store preference than separate arrangement. Fifth, store image and preference were different by subject's sex; male subjects perceived style arrangement as more elegant, characteristic and attractive image, and showed higher store preference than female subjects on separate arrangement of folded type.
