Job Analysis of Early Childhood Special Education Teachers Using DACUM Technique (DACUM 기법을 활용한 유치원 특수학급 교사의 직무분석)

  • This study attempted to analyze the jobs of early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes using the DACUM technique. To this end, the DACUM Committee was formed with six early childhood special education teachers with extensive field experience. A total of six DACUM workshops were conducted to derive job definition, job descriptions, and job specifications. As a result, the job description of early childhood special education teachers consisted of 9 duties and 53 tasks, and the job specification consisted of 80 knowledge, 98 skills, and 22 attitudes. Early childhood special education teachers working in kindergarten's special classes were tasks differentiated from special education teachers working in elementary and secondary school including home-linked guidance, health and safety management, elementary school transfer guidance, environmental composition according to play topics, and indoor and outdoor play activities guidance. In the case of knowledge, the Special Education Act on the Disabled, etc. and knowledge on behavioral modification took precedence. Skill showed high frequency of observation-record, parental interviews and parental education skills. Attitudes as experts and administrators took priority. The results of this job analysis can help organize a curriculum to train early childhood special education teachers with high job competency in universities.

The Recognition of Special Teachers for Early Childhood about the Guarantee of Rights of Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities (유아특수교사의 장애영유아 권리보장에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there are any differences in the recognition of the level of the guarantee of the rights of infants and toddlers according to the teachers' variables(gender, age, working experience) and institutional variables (institution type, establishment type, scale, area). We surveyed 365 special education teachers and found out differences. The results are as follows. First, there was no difference in the recognition according to gender. Second, there was no difference in the recognition according to age. Third, there was no difference in the recognition by working experience. Fourth, the recognition by type of educational institution showed that there were differences in the ambit of rights to life, protection, development, and participation. Fifth, the recognition according to the establishment type showed there were differences in the rights to life and development. On the other hand, there was no difference in the rights to protection and participation. Sixth, there were differences in the recognition about the rights to life, protection, development, and participation according to the scale of the education institutions. Seventh, there were no differences in the region. The results of this study can be used as basic data for establishing policy for the promotion of educational rights for infants with disabilities.

A Qualitative Study on Early Childhood Special Education Teachers' Experiences of the Disability Understanding Education in Inclusive Education (통합교육 현장에서 근무하는 유아특수 교사의 장애이해 교육 경험에 관한 질적연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate early childhood special education teachers' experience, difficulties and need for effective disability understanding education in inclusive education field. The researcher interviewed 3 different early childhood special education teacher. Each participant was individually interviewed 2-3 times with deliberated questions for collecting data. After the interview was analyzed, the contents were categorized into three major themes and twelve sub themes. The three major themes were (1) early childhood special education teachers' difficulties in inclusive education field. (2) experience in the disability understanding education (3) need for proper disability understanding education. First, the teachers were awareness of the difficulties at the inclusive education field due to ambiguity in the role and location, the extension of the expertise, and the misaligned system. Second, teachers stated that the barriers to disability understanding education include creating prejudice, varied according to teachers ' abilities, poor perception of appropriate methods, and low concerns of adults and young children. Third, the results showed that development of the teaching manual, improvement of the administrative system, change in perception of disability understanding education, and disability understanding education based on the experiences of young children were necessary for effective disability understanding education. Based on these results, several specific implications for effective disability understanding education were suggested.

Public Kindergarten Teachers' Concept Knowledge on Inclusion Education (장애유아통합교육에 대한 공립유치원 유아교사의 개념지식)

  • Objective: The purpose of the study was to examine public kindergarten teachers' concept knowledge on inclusion education and to compare concept knowledge by teacher types (general teachers with experience of inclusion, general teachers without experience of inclusion, and special teachers). Methods: The subjects, sixty early childhood teachers in public kindergarten, were asked to draw concept maps illustrating their understanding of inclusion education for young children. The collected concept maps were analyzed using the methods utilized by Novak and Gowin (1984) as well as You and Kim (2018). Results: The results were as follows. First, 209 superordinate concepts were shown, and they were categorized into 13 representative superordinate concepts. Second, 1,585 subordinate concepts were shown. Among them, partial inclusion, complete inclusion, and teacher cooperation were frequently used. Third, contents of concept knowledge on inclusion education varied by teacher types. Conclusion/Implications: Discussions were included to support and enhance early childhood teachers' content knowledge on inclusion education for young children with special needs.

A Convergence Study on Speciall Teacher's and Fellow Worker's Ranking of Factors Judged Critical to Job Success for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (특수교사와 직장동료가 판단하는 지적장애인의 직업적 성공요인에 관한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare special education teacher with fellow workers in which skills and skill categories were judged critical to job success for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The results obtained from the study were as follows: First, both groups ranked work-related skill category most relevant for job success. Special education teachers deemed 'following instruction' and 'interest in the job' as critical to job success. And fellow workers ranked 'following instruction' and 'neatness' most important factors. The results of this study give us suggestions as to develop the vocational curriculum for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of participating in teaching material development program using 3D printer on the recognition of universal design for learning of early childhood special education pre-service teachers. This study was conducted on 30 early childhood special education pre-service teachers who participated in teaching material development program using 3D printer. The results of this study showed that the early childhood special education pre-service teachers use of the 3D printer-based teaching material development program resulted in statistically significant differences in the 4 low rank factors of the universal design for learning. This research shows that direct experience in developing teaching material using 3D printers is very effective to improve universal design for learning awareness. In addition, the experience of developing teaching material for pre-service early childhood teachers is important for improving the instructional design ability, and they need the practice of the development of the teaching material using the latest technology for teaching students with various needs.

The Effect of Teacher Support Program for the Integration of Handicapped Children on Teaching Efficacy of Daycare Center Teachers (장애 유아 통합보육을 위한 교사 지원이 어린이집 교사의 교사 효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of teacher support program for integration of handicapped children on teaching efficacy of daycare center teachers. Methods: In the study, 12 day care teachers in 4 day care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi area were selected as experimental groups and 12 teachers in 5 day care centers were selected as control group. Teacher education is carried out through group education, such as understanding of developmental area, curriculum modification, activity-based embedded intervention, cooperative learning, direct teaching, disability understanding education, behavior support, family support. Individual teacher education provided counseling on the reality of child care for children with disabilities that reflects the needs of teachers for integrated child care for handicapped children. Teacher's Efficacy in Inclusive Practices (TEIP) was used as a pre post test to measure teacher's efficacy change. In order to analyze the results of the study, two independent sample t tests were conducted on the difference between pre-post test of teacher efficacy between the two groups. Results: As a result, There was a significant difference in the pre-post change of teacher efficacy between the two groups. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study are as follows, teacher support program provided immediate feedback in integrated child daycare center for the handicapped children, child care teachers improved their integrated handicapped children care expertise, provided responsive teacher support program to the actual needs of the site, teacher support program reflected various variables related to integration, and emphasized the cooperative relationship between researcher and child daycare center teacher. The results of this study can be used as actual data of field where lack of support for the integration of handicapped children is lacking.

Experience of Participation in Educational Community in Early Childhood Mathematics Education Using Storytelling and its Meaning (스토리텔링을 활용한 유아수학교육 교육공동체 참여경험과 그 의미)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the experiences of participation in the educational community through cooperative relationships between early childhood teachers and researchers in early childhood mathematics education using storytelling, and to find out the meaning of those experiences. Reputable researchers began with the formation of the educational community on March 14, 2016, and continued until July 26, 2016, and collected transcripts of discussions of educational community meetings, reflective journal data of teachers and researchers, and transcript of individual interviews by teachers. As a result of the study, first, the experience of participating in the educational community in early childhood mathematics education using storytelling shared personal mathematics experiences and mathematical situations, understood and learned mathematics content knowledge through sharing, and communicated through the educational community. Second, looking at the meaning of the experience of participating in the early childhood mathematics education educational community using storytelling, learn together through mathematical errors and learn the direction of better instruction through sharing. Grown up as a teacher who enjoys the mathematics exploration process, and promoted joint practice through cooperation in early childhood mathematics education using storytelling.

Teachers' Perceptions of Competencies Needed for Working in Inclusive Early Childhood Programs (유아통합교육프로그램의 일반교사와 특수교사가 갖추어야 할 자질에 대한 교사들의 인식 - 미국 교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine early childhood education(ECE) and early childhood special education(ECSE) teachers' perceptions of (a)important teacher competencies needed for working in inclusive early childhood programs and (b)current levels of these competencies. Sixty-two ECE teachers and 77 ECSE teachers responded to the survey developed for this study. There were no differences between the ECE teachers and ECSE teachers in the ratings of importance of the competency domains. However, the ECSE teachers had significantly higher perceptions than the ECE teachers of their self-proficiency on competencies related to child development, curriculum and instruction, assessment procedures, working with other adults, and professionalism. Both the ECE and ECSE teachers perceived the greatest need for further training in competencies related to assessment procedures and working with families and other adults.

공익성 통합교육 포털사이트의 사회적 필요성 및 발전방향 연구

  • 본 연구는 국내 장애아 통합교육의 환경에서 통합교육의 특수성과 교육주체들의 현실적 한계를 고려할 때, 온라인 통합교육 지원 인프라의 구축이 필요함을 전제로, 장애아의 통합교육 지원을 위한 공익적 성격의 통합교육 포털 사이트의 사회적 필요성을 연구하고, 국내 특수교육 및 통합교육 관련 온라인 사이트의 사례분석을 통해 장애아를 위한 통합교육 포털의 발전방향을 제시하였다. 공익성 통합교육 포털 사이트의 사회적 필요성 측면은 통합교육의 사회적 당위성을 바탕으로 국내 특수교육 관련 법률 및 장애인 교육실태의 의미와 연계하여 제시하는 동시에 교사, 장애아, 장애아 부모로 구분한 교육주체별 통합교육의 현실적 한계성을 공익성 통합교육 포털 사이트의 사회적 필요성과 연결하여 제시하였으며, 이러한 필요성에 입각하여 장애아 교육 및 통합교육 관련 웹사이트의 비교/분석을 통해 통합교육 포털 사이트의 향후 발전방향을 제시하였다.
