Effects of Restaurant Employees' Sense of Humor on Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention (레스토랑 종업원의 유머감각이 직무만족과 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study empirically analyzed the effects of employees' sense of humor on job satisfaction and turnover intention focusing on those who work for restaurants in Seoul to provide preliminary data for effective human resource management in the foodservice industry. In terms of a sense of humor, meta message sensitivity, preference for humor, emotional expression, and coping scale of a sense of humor were drawn as the factors. The findings are as follows. First, among the factors of humor, preference for humor, reaction to humor, and meta message sensibility affected job satisfaction positively in order. On the contrary, emotional expression was found not to affect it. Second, preference for humor and emotional expression affected turnover intention negatively in order whereas meta message sensibility and reaction to humor did not affect it. Therefore, based on the research result that a sense of humor affects job satisfaction and turnover intention, it is needed to recognize the importance of humor and consider evaluation on a sense of humor when screening employees.

Research Student Teacher's Sense of Humor, Psychological Well-being and Ego-resilience Correlation with each other (예비유아교사의 유머감각과 심리적 안녕감 및 자아탄력성의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study studies the effect of student teacher's sense of humor, psychological well-being and ego-resilience by general characteristics and by examining the correlation with each other and influences. A sample of 323 student teachers was obtained from a college and a university in the Busan area. This study made use of an research instrument which was a questionnaire for sense of humor(Woo, 2008), psychological well-being(Lee, 2006) and ego-resilience(Park, 1997). For the data analysis connection analysis and regression analysis, SPSS version 18.0 was used. The results of study are as follows. First, student teachers have scores which are above average scores of sense of humor, psychological well-being and ego-resilience. Second, there was a positive correlation between the sense of humor and ego-resilience and a low grade variable of ego-resilience of student teachers and their sense of humor and psychological well-being and between their psychological well-being and ego-resilience. Third, When a multilinear regression analysis was made to confirm which variable would affect ego-resilience, sense of humor and a low grade variable of their was found to exert a statistically significant impact by 5%, and psychological well-being and a low grade variable of their was found to exert a statistically significant impact by 26%. Based on the results, the education training or programs for student teacher to use the sense of humor and psychological well-being should be developed according to the ego-resilience.

The relationship between sense of humor, stress and depression in the nursing students (일 간호대학생의 유머감각과 스트레스 및 우울과의 관계)

  • This study was performed to identify the relationship between sense of humor, stress, and depression in the nursing students. Data were collected from the 20th of June to the 30th of June in 2015 from 227 nursing students in K university. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, kruscal-walis, pearson, spearman, and rank correlation coefficient. The result shows the sense of humor was significantly different between grade (t=-3.814, p <.001) and major satisfaction (${\chi}^2=12.070$, p=.007). The sense of humor was negatively correlated with living stress (r=-.237, p=.001), clinical based stress (r=-.182, p=.007), and with depression (r=-.238, p<.001). This data suggests that sense of humor is relevant in reducing the living stress and clinical based stress. These findings can provide the basis for the development of nursing intervention to increase the ability to cope with stress and depression.

Effects of sense of humor and optimism on the nursing performance of the clinical nurse in the advanced general hospital (상급종합병원 임상간호사의 유머감각과 낙관성이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was done to explore the correlation among sense of humor, optimism, and nursing performance and identify factors related nursing performance among nurses. A survey was conducted for April 2018 with self-report questionnaire. Participants were 181registered nurses working in three tertiary hospitals. Sense of humor was positively correlated optimism, and nursing performance. Factors affecting nursing performance included educational background, work shift, clinical career. Nursing performance had a positive correlation with sense of humor and optimism. And work shift, sense of humor and optimism accounted for 38.6% of the variance in nursing performance. Therefore, quality management for developing nursing professionalism support for improving nursing performance and sense of humor and optimism . Future research will be needed to clarify the effects of the sense of humor and optimism promotion program on nursing performance.

The Causal Relationship in Teachers' sense of Humor, Empowerment and Job Performance in Childcare Center (보육교사의 유머감각과 임파워먼트 및 직무성과 간의 인과모형 연구)

  • This study examines the casual relationship between Sense of humor of teachers in childcare center and empowerment and job performance. The subjects of this study were 645 educare teachers from Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheng-do, and Jeonra-do. Spss version 18.0 and Amos 16.0 were used to analyze the date. The result of analysis showed that Sense of humor of teachers in childcare center has positive effect on both their empowerment and job performance, and it creates bigger total effect on their job performance through the mediation of their empowerment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of sense of humor by instructors and learning motivation in major satisfaction in nursing students. Data were collected from 160 nursing students of D university in Gyoungsaingbuk-do using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression, conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The results showed that a sense of humor by instructors and learning motivation were the factors affecting major satisfaction of nursing students. Therefore, it is necessary to have programs to develop the sense of humor of the instructors and to increase the capacity of the instructor in order to increase the satisfaction of the nursing college students. In addition, a concrete strategy to improve learning motivation of nursing college students should be established.

The Effects of Pre-service Early Childhood Teacher's Sense of Humor and Emotional Intelligence on Teacher Efficacy (예비유아교사의 유머감각과 정서지능이 교사효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the pre-service early childhood teacher's sense of humor, emotional intelligence on their teacher efficacy. The subjects of this study were 253 pre-service early childhood teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The statistical analysis of this study was analyzed using the SPSS V. 22.0 program. The result of the study is summarized as follows. First, in terms of the result for general trends in sense of humor, emotional intelligence, and teacher efficacy were found to be above normal. Second, the result of the current study reveals that the sense of humor, emotional intelligence, and teacher efficacy was correlated. Also, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the sense of humor, emotional intelligence, and teacher efficacy. Third, it was found that the 'creation of humor', 'humor preference' of sub-factor in the sense of humor, and 'to perceive other people's emotion' of sub-factor in emotional intelligence affected the early childhood pre-service teacher's teacher efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary to promote both sense of humor and emotional intelligence in order to enhance the teacher efficacy in pre-service early childhood teachers.

Effects of infant children Mothers' humor and ego resilience on Maternal behavior (영아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 유머감각과 자아탄력성이 양육행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of the mothers' sense of humor, ego-resilience on the maternal behavior. 187 mothers of 24~36 month old children completed the questionnaires. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, Pearson's co-relation and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were as follows. First, concerning the mothers' personal variables, the mean of the sense of humor, ego-resilience, and maternal behavior were relatively high. Second, the mothers' sense of humor and its sub-scales, except as a copying strategy, and ego-resilience had a positive co-relation with the maternal behavior and its sub-scales. Lastly, the mothers' sense of humor and its sub-scales, and ego-resilience were significant variables to influence the maternal behavior. As stated above, the ways were discussed to improve the mothers' sense of humor and ego-resilience.

A study on the Influence of Empathy Ability and Sense of Humor on the Communication Ability of Psychiatric Nurses (정신간호사의 공감능력과 유머감각이 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this descriptive study was to examine the degree and the relationship among empathy ability, sense of humor and communication ability of psychiatric nurses and to understand factors which influence on communication ability. Data were collected from 219 psychiatric nurses in B and G city and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0. The degree of communication ability in psychiatric nurses was 3.59±.43. There were significant differences in communication ability with respect to sense of humor(r=.53, p<.001), and also between communication ability and empathy ability(r=.39, p<.001), with an explanatory power of 34.4%(F=29.56, p<.001). In conclusion, these findings indicate that the higher sense of humor and empathy ability of psychiatric nurses, the higher communication ability. Accordingly, to improve the communication ability of psychiatric nurses, educational programs to improve sense of humor and empathy ability of psychiatric nurses should be developed and utilized

The Correlations among Psychological Control in Parents with a child, and Empathy, Humor Sense, Parenting self-efficacy (유아기 부모의 심리적 통제 양육과 공감능력, 유머감각, 양육효능감 간의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the correlations among empathy, humor sense parenting self-efficacy and psychological control in Korean parents with a child. For research, 203 parents with a child under the age of 5 attending kindergarten in Seoul participated in this study. As a result of the study, parenting self-efficacy was the lowest and psychological control was the highest. In adittion, among 'empathy', 'humor sense' and 'autonomy support', 'guilt inducement' on sub factor of psychological control showed a significant correlations. In addition, 'cognitive empathy' on sub factor of empathy was significantly correlated with 'autonomy control' on sub factor of psychological control, and 'preference for humor' on sub factor of humor was significantly correlated with 'identical parenting' on sub factor of psychological control. Among parenting self-efficacy and 'autonomy support', 'guilt inducement', 'autonomy control' on sub factor of psychological control showed a significant negative-correlation. 'Difficulty in parental roles' on sub factor of parenting self-efficacy was negatively correlated with other factors except 'identical parenting' on sub factor of psychological control.
