The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effects of a simulation-based convergence practicum education program among senior nursing students. A repeated measure experimental design was used. A total of 77 senior nursing students were recruited from a university located in G city. Data was collected at baseline, program completion, and 2 month following completion of the practicum. Repeated measure ANOVA was used to evaluate the effects of the program. There were statistically significant improvements between baseline and program completion and between the baseline and 2 month follow-up. However, there was no significant differences between the program completion and 2 month follow-up. The study demonstrated that simulation-based convergence practicum education was an effective strategy to increase study outcomes and reduce clinical practice stress among senior nursing students. Further studies are needed to evaluate the effects of the program using randomized controlled trials.

The aim of study was to identify the reliability and validity of an evaluation tool developed on the basis of performance outcome in Women's Health Nursing simulation practicum. A total of 110 undergraduate nursing students were recruited from one college. Data collection of this study was conducted between August and December of 2014. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, multitrait/multi-item matrix analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Cronbach's alpha with SPSS win 20.0 program. An exploratory factor analysis demonstrated that the four-factor structures of 10 items explained 68.2% of the total variance. It was significantly correlated with the Critical Thinking Disposition scale(r=.42, p <.001). The Cronbach's alpha was 0.89,ranging from 0.61 to 0.92. The results of this study support the reliability and validity of this evaluation tool. It could be a useful tool in evaluating the performance outcome in simulation practicum for nursing students.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of simulation practice education applying problem-based learning on problem-solving ability, critical thinking disposition, and learning satisfaction of nursing students. 63 nursing students taking the practice subject for integrated simulation at U University in K region were asked to complete a self-administered questionnaire to collect data before and after the simulation practice. The simulation practice education applying problem-based learning was effective in improving problem-solving ability and learning satisfaction significantly and positive correlation was found among problem-solving ability, critical thinking disposition, and learning satisfaction; that is, the better problem-solving ability, the higher level of critical thinking disposition and learning satisfaction. While the results of this study conducted in nursing students at a single university cannot be generalized, it was confirmed that simulation practice education applying problem-based learning was an effective teaching method in improving problem-solving ability and learning satisfaction of nursing students. It is therefore necessary to give simulation practice education applying problem-based learning on a systematic and continuous basis with the objective of improving problem-solving ability and learning satisfaction and promoting critical thinking disposition.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of online psychiatric nursing practicum including virtual simulation on goal commitment, self-efficacy, critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability of nursing students in the COVID-19 situation with difficult clinical practice. The subjects of this study were collected using an online questionnaire for third-year nursing students located in A city, and 31 students participated in the final. The results of this study showed that goal commitment and critical thinking disposition were improved in the post-test compared to the pre-test, but were not statistically significant. Self-efficacy (t=4.222, p<.001) and problem solving ability (t=6.807, p<.001) were signifincantly improved after than before online practicum. This findings indicate that online psychiatric nursing practicum including virtual simulation is effective in improving self-efficacy and problem solving ability. As it is difficult to perform nursing practice directly in the clinical field due to the recent COVID-19, it is expected that the limitations of online practicum can be overcome by utilizing various online contents including virtual simulations in online psychiatric nursing practicum.

This study is a descriptive qualitative study to understand the virtual reality-based simulation experiences of nursing students. The study recruited 53 students who conducted virtual reality-based simulation while attending the course of Adult Nursing I and II in the third year of the department of nursing at a university. The data was analyzed using a content analysis method from a reflection journal created anonymously by students. The results emerged 5 categories and 12 subcategories. The categories were consisted of "realizing the necessity of nursing competence", "expanding nursing knowledge", "receiving safety psychologically", "thinking focused on problem" and "getting satisfaction". It suggests that virtual reality online program can have a positive effect on thoughts and expansion of knowledge in a safe educational environment. Therefore, it needs to develop various contents for the virtual reality education and training.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the problem solving abilities of nursing students in case of simulation-based emergency care for respiratory distress patients. For this study, 117 third year nursing students participated in the adult simulation practice from April 22 to May 31, 2013. The results of the study revealed that problem solving abilities after simulation practice were significantly greater than those after self-directed learning(t=2.59, p=.010). In the analysis of subcategories of problem solving abilities, there were significant differences in the definition of problem solving (t=2.95, p=.004), the device of problem solutions(t=2.10, p=.0.37), and the review of problem resolutions(t=3.06, p=.002). Based on these results, the study confirmed that the simulation practice was an effective teaching method for problem solving skills.

The aim of this study was to verify the effects of simulation-based high-risk neonatal care education on learning satisfaction, class participation, learning motivation and clinical competency of Nursing Students. The participants were 118 nursing students in year 3 in D college. The questionaire survey on learning satisfaction, class participation, learning motivation and clinical competency were conducted before and after education to the nursing students. The data was analysed by the SPSS WIN 17.0 program. The results showed that the scores of learning satisfaction, class participation, learning motivation and clinical competency were significantly higher than before education. Also, clinical competency have significant relationships with learning satisfaction, class participation and learning motivation.

This study was performed to identify the difference in nursing process competency, critical thinking disposition and self-efficacy after applying virtual reality simulation education. The data were collected from 31 nursing college students using URL from February to April 2021 and analyzed SPSS 22.0. The pretest and posttest result of each group showed statistically significant improvements in nursing process competency(t=-3.776, p=.001), critical thinking disposition(t=-3.608, p=.001) and self-efficacy(t=-3.580, p=.001). As a result of this study, it was found that virtual reality simulation education improve nursing process competency, critical thinking disposition and self-efficacy of nursing students. Therefore, virtual reality simulation education will be the basis for preparing effective clinical practice education strategies for nursing students. It is suggested to have follow-up studies on virtual reality simulation education and various scenarios should be developed.

This study was performed to examine that convergence-based integrated simulation practice program curriculum effects the clinical decision making, problem solving competence, clinical competence and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance for nursing students. After the convergence-based integrated simulation practice program, there were significant increased in problem solving process(t=-3.052, p<.01), clinical competence(t=-4.279, p=.000), and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance(t=-2.416, p<.05). The finding of this study verified that the integrated simulation practice program curriculum can be used for improvements of problem solving competence, clinical competence and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance for nursing students. It is necessary to develop a scientific analytical evaluation tool and program, and it would be necessary to have a system for scientifically analyzing the integration of simulation practical courses by nursing college students by grade level and subjects.

The purpose of this study was to develop a simulation-based practice that enhances the core competencies of nursing students and to investigate the effects on critical thinking disposition, communication skill, and clinical performance for nursing students. This study used a one group, pre-post test design. There were 53 nursing students from G city enrolled in this study, and self-reported questionnaires were collected between June 10 and August 19, 2016. The simulation-based practice was applied for 6-8 hours/day for 60 hours, using a 4-practice module. The data were analyzed by frequencies, paired t-test, and Pearson's correlation using SPSS Win 18.0. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the clinical performance, however, there was no significant difference in the critical thinking disposition and communication skill. After the simulation-based practice, clinical performance was found to be positively correlated with critical thinking disposition (r= .628, p<.001) and communication (r=.716, p<.001). Critical thinking disposition and communication (r=.650, p<.001) also showed a positive correlation. In order to improve clinical competence, it is necessary to develop a simulation-based practice that enhances critical thinking disposition and communication skill.
