The Effects of Flight attendant's Uniform Design on Uniform Satisfaction and Select Airline (항공사 승무원 유니폼의 특성이 유니폼 만족도와 항공사 선택에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to identify the effect of a flight attendant's uniform quality on uniform satisfaction and on selecting an airline. To do that, uniform components were first classified into three factors esthetics, functionality, and symbolization. Then the differences of respondents'perception were tested according to the demographics of respondents. Finally the causal relationships among three uniform components, uniform satisfaction and select airline were examined. For the empirical study, the questionnaire data were collected from college and university student studying cabin crew service. The result of this study showed that the perceptions of students who study cabin crew service were significant on according some demographics information, esthetics, functionality and symbolization factors affecting uniform satisfaction, which had the positive effect on selecting an airline. These results suggested practical implications for cabin crew's uniform. These result include important managerial implications for the airlines. Also there was some limitation on a hypothesis of study and the further study were needed.

The Effect of Job Insecurity of Airline Crew Members on Their Psychological Contract Violation and Job Satisfaction (항공사승무원의 고용불안정이 심리적계약 위반과 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to examine the effect of job insecurity on their psychological contract violation and job satisfaction among airline crew members. Also, this study intended to give meaningful hint in reducing job insecurity crew members feel, and, by examining ways to relieve psychological contract violation, give theoretical and practical suggestions on human resource management of airlines. The findings from empirical analysis are as follows. First, H 1-1 that job insecurity of airline cabin crew members will have positive effect on their transactional psychological contract violation was adopted. Second, H 1-2 that job insecurity of airline cabin crew members will have positive effect on their relational psychological contract violation was adopted. Third, H 2-1 that transactional psychological contract violation of airline cabin crew members will have negative effect on their job satisfaction was adopted. In contrast, H 2-2 that relational psychological contract violation of airline cabin crew members will have negative effect on their job satisfaction was rejected. Finally, H 3 that job insecurity of airline cabin crew members will have negative effect on their job satisfaction was adopted.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship among dialect, anxiety and career barrier for flight attendant applicants at interview. A Survey was conducted on female applicants who had attended interview at least once. As a result, dialect speakers were more anxious than non-dialect speakers. And a dialect affects the anxiety, the anxiety also affects the career barrier. The findings of this study offer several managerial implications for directors in teaching positions. The results of the evaluation can be used as a background for promoting effective interview method.

  • Although seaman has made a contribution marine transportation and the marine products industry, the current status of preventing occupational disease by monitoring health danger factors is very unsatisfied. Therefore, a monitoring system regarding health condition and disease occurrence of seaman is required. In this paper, we propose a real-time sailor management system based on uniqutious healthcare, which collects various organic signals and analyzes their relation in order to confirm blood pressure, temperature and pulsation of seaman. The proposed system enables a medical doctor to manage the diseases anywhere at any time even via a PC and PDA.

  • 현재 코로나로 인한 각 나라의 입국 제한이 사라지면서 국내외 여행 예약률 증가에 따라 그만큼 비행기 예약도 늘어나고 있다. 그런데 객실 승무원의 근무 환경은 매우 열악하기 때문에 육체적, 정신적 피로를 누적되게 한다. 이는 승객에게 양질의 서비스를 제공할 수 없게 하고 안전사고를 대처하는 데 있어 문제가 된다. 본 논문은 객실 승무원이 스마트폰 앱을 이용하여 편리하게 객실 상황을 확인하고, 원격 제어하며 서빙카트를 조작하여 승객의 주문에 대한 서비스를 제공하는 '원격제어가 가능한 비행기 객실 관리 시스템'을 제안한다. 이 시스템을 이용함으로써 객실 승무원은 객실 상황을 판단하여 즉각적인 대처를 할 수 있고, 항공기 효율적 운용을 위한 안전성과 정시성을 확보하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

Analysis of Social Network between Consumption Emotion based on the Uniform of Full-Service Carrier and Low-Cost Carrier Crews (대형항공사와 저비용항공사 승무원의 유니폼에 따른 소비정서 간의 사회연결망 분석)

  • The purpose of the study compares the difference between the carriers' reported large consumption emotion of customers in regards to the appearance of the crew. The research method was conducted for 15 days from March 11 to 25, 2018, and the number of valid samples was 289 in total. The results of the study showed that customers differ in the influence of perceived consumption sentiment between full service carrier and low cost carrier on uniform of flight attendant. Consumer sentiments perceived by low cost carriers are comfortable, familiar, and lively, and these results have proven that they are distinguished from low cost carriers by being clean, sophisticated, and large. The results of this study are significant when the airline has changed the crew uniform at the right time and considered it to be a marketing tool that is important to the image change of the company.

  • The principal objective of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and customer orientation in airline service context. Moreover, this study was designed to test the moderating effect of social support to provide fundamental and practical data for airline industry. In this study, 2 hypotheses based on literature reviews were employed. A questionnaire was also developed based on previous studies. A convenience sample of 233 flight attendants was surveyed and a total of 214 usable questionnaires were analyzed. Then the data and hypotheses were examined using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results are as follows. Firstly, emotional intelligence was divided into 'self-emotional appraisal', 'other's emotional appraisal', 'regulation of emotion' and 'use of emotion' according to the literature review. Analysis showed that emotional intelligence has partial effect on customer orientation accordingly. Secondly, social support has partial moderating effects between emotional intelligence and customer orientation. Continuous and systematic training program which build up team work should be conducted to administer 'emotional intelligence'.

  • The study empirically investigates the effect of mindfulness on their job satisfaction and organizational commitment of flight attendants focused on the mediating effect of job satisfaction between mindfulness and organizational commitment. Data was collected at Incheon and Jeju international airport from flight attendants working on international flight of domestic airlines. The results of this study reveal that concentration among the sub-factors of mindfulness had positive effects on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. And job satisfaction partially mediated between the sub-factor of mindfulness and organizational commitment. In order for flight attendants to avoid habitual behaviors and to increase concentration while on duty, it is important to work together to remind one another of next step of service that immediately follows and complete a checklist at the end of each step of service.

  • Although navigation systems and automatic identification technologies are in use for nautical safety of ocean vessels, ship collisions are increasing due to the growing number of overseas transportations. Since these accidents are mostly caused by the watch officers and crews' human mistakes, it is essential to develop a new set of systems to prevent such misfortunes. Therefore, we suggest a control and management system which monitors crews in order to conduct secure on-board navigation and nautical safety. We also materialized a mobile terminal system and portable device for the crews to check the status of the ship, and we designed a platform for an integrated surveillance system to assure a harmless voyage. Lastly, we attested the mutual connections of integrated safety-related data.
