Analysis on the Car Ownership Structure Considering Household Car Ownership Pattern (가구별 차량보유패턴을 고려한 차량 보유구조 분석)

  • The goal of this study is to be used as baseline data for transportation demand management. At the present time the number of registered car and householding car is increasing, so there is a need to analyze the car ownership pattern through household car hold status. Also, it is necessary to analyze the factor of increasing car. The research is proceeded with classifying as the household which is holding private cars or holding passenger cars and non passenger cars based on the result of the research of the household travel survey data. The result of this study is shown as follows. According to car ownership pattern, there are more households holding passenger cars only when they are holding less than 2 cars. Otherwise there are more households holding passenger car and non passenger car when they are holding more than 3 cars. Using the Ordered Logit Model, there are more differences in factors affects holding cars by variables of housing type and household properties.

Comparative Analysis of Elderly's and Non-elderly's Human Traffic Accident Severity (고령운전자와 비고령운전자의 인적교통사고 심각도 비교분석)

  • This study focused on estimating influential factors of traffic accidents and analyzing traffic accident severity of elderly and non elderly using traffic accident data. In order to reclassify elderly and non elderly traffic accident by a statistical method from entire traffic accident data, multiple discriminant analysis was applied. Also ordered logit model was applied for analyzing traffic accident severities using traffic accident severities as an independent variable and transportation facilities, road conditions and human characteristics as dependent variables. As results of the comparison between elderly and non elderly traffic accident, the traffic accident severity was affected by the age, types of traffic accidents, human characteristics and road conditions as well. Also, transportation facilities and road conditions affected to more elderly traffic accident than non elderly. Therefore, traffic accident severity would be decreased with the improvement of transportation facilities and road conditions for the elderly.

Life Satisfaction of Urban-to-Rural Migrants in South Korea - Income vs. Nature - (귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도 비교 분석)

  • 농촌인구의 급격한 감소와 고령화 속에서 농촌의 지속가능성을 위한 방안으로 귀농·귀촌의 확대가 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 귀농·귀촌인의 생활만족도 결정요인을 분석함으로써 도시민의 농촌 이주와 성공적인 정착을 촉진하기 위한 정책적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구는 특히 귀농·귀촌의 주요 동기가 소득이나 농촌의 자연환경이라는 점에서, 생활만족도를 자연환경만족도와 소득만족도로 구분하여 비교 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 분석에는 순서형 로짓모형과 일반화 로짓모형을 사용하였고, 분석자료는 2016년 「귀농귀촌실태조사」 원자료이다. 분석결과, 귀농·귀촌인의 자연환경만족도는 상당히 높으나 소득만족도는 보통 수준에 미치지 못하였다. 귀농·귀촌의 이유가 자연환경이거나, 귀농·귀촌 시 가족의 지지가 있었거나, 귀농·귀촌 이후 주변 이웃들과 좋은 관계를 유지하거나, 지자체로부터 귀농·귀촌 지원을 받은 경우, 귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도가 모두 높았다. 이러한 공통적인 요인 이외에 귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 소득만족도는 현재 가구소득이나 귀농·귀촌 전·후 소득 변화와 같은 경제적 요인에 의해 영향을 받으나, 자연환경만족도는 귀농·귀촌 시 배우자의 동행 여부나 지역사회 참여와 같은 사회적 요인에 의해 주로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

Reasons for Violation of the Self Carfree Day Policy (승용차요일제 준수와 위반에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • This research is to analyze reasons for violation of the Self Carfree day policy. It also analyzes satisfaction of the policy participation incentives. The results are that the violation rate is increasing if the drivers live in a zone which is highly energy consuming, which has low potential demand per bus stop and low trip generation per number of houses, which therefore requires more bus routes and bus services, and in which the drivers pay more car operating fees and show less tendancy towards participation even with the 5-10% oil price increase. The results are significant at the 0.05 level.

  • Recently, due to THE MOBILITY ENHANCEMENT FOR THE MOBILITY IMPAIRED ACT, local governments have tired to make various efforts on special transport services(STS), low-flow bus, and installing elevator in subway stations for handicapped people. But in case of STS, insufficient numbers of taxi are raised against the increasing demand of hadicapped people due to the limited budget. This study investigated actual use condition of STS and characteristics of selection of handicapped people on Duribal. In addition, an ordered-logistic model was employed for developing taxi use prediction model considering taxi fare discounts for diverting Duribal demands to taxies. The results can be a significant basic data for transportation policies to improve travel efficiency of the handicapped.

Analysis of the Implementation of the Residential Improvement Project Considering Land and Building Characteristics - The Case of Busan Metropolitan City (토지 및 건축물특성에 따른 정비사업 추진 분석 - 부산광역시 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The government has been operating residential improvement projects through the "Act on the Maintenance and Improvement of Urban Areas and Dwelling Conditions for Residents" as a type of a remedial measure for deteriorated residential areas. However, in recent years, the residential improvement projects have experienced difficulties due to the effects of various factors including the slowdown in economic growth. After observing the depression in a number of projects, various studies have been carried out to investigate the causality and improve the promotion of the residential improvement projects. In the trend of research, this study aims to analyze the effects of land and building characteristics on the improvement projects of Busan Metropolitan City. The dependent variables of the study represent different phases of improvement project as specified in the "Act on the Maintenance and Improvement of Urban Areas and Dwelling Conditions for Residents". The independent variables represent land and building characteristics which refer to the criteria used in the designation process of maintenance area according to the act. The empirical analysis uses the ordered logit model. The results from the analysis suggest that geographical condition, factors related to the number of union members, factors related to the parcel price and condition of a location have impact on the promotion of the improvement project. The results of the analysis show that majority of the factors are related to the economic feasibility of the projects. Residential improvement project is a part of urban planning projects that rehabilitates deteriorated residential environment, and it is closely associated with the quality of life of public. Accordingly, we hope that such projects are reasonable and take effective approach to those with urgent needs rather than to focus on profitability. Also, potential administrative and economical loss should be avoided by taking necessary planning measures in advance.

Analyzing Community CPTED Perception of Local Residents in the School Areas (학교 주변 커뮤니티 CPTED에 관한 지역 주민의 인식 연구)

  • In recent days, school violence has been rising as a significant social problem. The occurrence of school violence can be fueled by a wide range of social and environmental contexts, thus it is very difficult to come up with the ultimate solution. Community CPTED program is one of the more comprehensive set of efforts that has been developed to prevent crime in general, and the primary focus of the study is to investigate suitable components of CPTED to prevent school violence based on the physical conditions of communities as well as the perception of residents outside of school grounds, in the vicinity of schools. Three sets of analyses in series were employed in the research. First, Ward's minimum-variance cluster analysis was used to classify the places where school violence can occur outside of school grounds based on the physical conditions recognized by local residents. Next, Importance-Performance Analysis was performed to analyze the perception of local residents about the importance and the effectiveness of CPTED components in preventing school violence. Subsequently, Ordered Logit Model was used to analyze the local residents' awareness on safety regarding school violence in their community space. Combining the results of the analyses, the priority of the community CPTED applications to prevent school violence outside of school was derived. Reflecting the local residents' perception on safety of students in their community, the sense of security in communities against school violence can be reinforced by the communities' sensible efforts in creating safer environment for their students.

A Study on Retailers' Recognition about Commercial Power Altering Due to Urban Regeneration Project : Case of Changwon Urban Regeneration Priority Project (도시재생사업에 따른 상인들의 상권 변화 인식에 관한 연구 : 창원시 도시재생 선도사업 사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze local retailers' recognition of commercial power altered by urban regeneration. For the purpose of this study, analysis is performed on pilot urban regeneration priority projects implemented in the city of Changwon. Although regeneration of commercial districts directly affect the local retailers therein, little research has been carried out to examine how they recognize such changes. This study, therefore, identifies those factors that have influence on the recognition of local retailers who would be aware of the alteration of their commercial power more immediately than others do. Using an ordered logit model, empirical analysis on two pilot projects for Odong-dong and Chang-dong indicates that retailers in Odong-dong are more likely to have a negative recognition toward the altered business areas. For the both districts, recognition of business area alterations is affected with statistical significance by how long they have run their shops, how many employees they hire, and whether they believe that the urban regeneration has resulted in gentrification. For each of the mentioned district, recognition in Odong-dong is significantly impacted by the number of employees and recognized rent changes, while in Chang-dong, the age of retailers and the perceived presence of gentrification have statistically significant influence. Issues found by this study need to be addressed prior to the upcoming 'Urban Regeneration New Deal Project', which then will bring satisfaction to each and every local residents including those retailers.

Determinants of Re-Subscription Period of Early Termination Subscribers of Reverse Mortgage (주택연금 중도해지자의 재가입 소요기간 결정요인 분석)

  • This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the re-subscription period upon initial termination of the reverse mortgage subscription. The study utilized the Korea Housing Finance Corporation's database to extract the information regarding re-subscribers of the reverse mortgage from July 2007 to June 2021. The ordered logit model was employed and found that a set of user (subscriber) characteristics are influential towards the re-subscription period. Among the individual characteristics, changes in age group, marital status from married to single-living, maintaining single-living, and the initial subscription period were found statistically significant, highlighting that the increase in the initial subscription period decreased the re-subscription period. Among the housing (home equity) characteristics, changes in housing price and ownership type (single and partial ownership) were statistically significant, indicating that the change in ownership type decreases the re-subscription period. Lastly, the variables related to loan terms were found significant, revealing that changes in payout method and schedule were both increasing factors of the re-subscription period. Based on the findings, necessary policy implications can be considered to secure the returning subscribers of the reverse mortgage effectively.

Satisfaction on Marital Relationship of Husband and Wife in Old Age (노년부부가구 남편과 부인의 부부관계 만족도)

  • The prolongation of life expectancy has expanded the duration of marriage in old age. In the meanwhile, the change of life style emphasizing privacy and sociodemographic environment favoring independent living has increased the number and proportion of the elderly living with spouse only. This study, focusing on those aged 60 and over who live with spouse only the elderly, explores their marital relationship. The study pays a special attention to compare whether and how the satisfaction on the relationship with spouse would differ between husband and wife. The ordered logit model analysis is conducted based on the nationwide survey '2008 Korean National Survey of Welfare Need in the Elderly'. The results show that the marital relationship satisfaction of husbands is influenced by their own characteristics but hardly affected by his wife's. In contrast, the satisfaction of wife is influenced by husband's characteristics as well as hers. These finding reflect that women are more strongly family-centered and dependent on their husband.
