  • In this study, in order to use history of mathematics in mathematical learning effectively, we investigate application of history of mathematics shown textbooks in simultaneous equations. History of Mathematics can be used in order to enhance comprehension and increase interest in an introduction to the simultaneous equations. It also can be used to help motivate middle school students to solve the simultaneous equations with much interest during the development phase, and develope open thinking and reflective thinking in the enrichment learning.

  • The paper is analyzed the mathematics curriculum of Korea and the philosophy of the mathematics education in the history of mathematics education. We have found that the various philosophy of Western mathematics education have led us to various views of the mathematics curriculum of Korea. This change of the mathematics curriculum in Korea have important implications to the didactics of mathematics. This study tried to find out the direction of outlook on the mathematics education in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate Newton's binomial theorem that was on epistemological basis of the emergent background and developmental course of infinite series and power series. Through this investigation, it will be examined how finding the approximate of square root of given numbers, the method of the inverse method of fluxions by Newton, and Gregory and Mercator series were developed in the course of history of mathematics. As the result of this study pedagogical analysis and discussion of the history of mathematics on Newton's binomial theorem will be presented.

  • The aims of the study were to analyze the San-Sul-Kwa textbook under the rule of Japanese Imperialism(1909~1945). It was analyzed that the contents of San-Sul-Kwa were selected for the purpose of national interests of Japanese as a ruling country through four times of amendment of education and many kinds of drill and practice in terms of number and operations were emphasized toward entire grades. However, some parts of textbook over the period seem to have had significant affects on mathematics education of Korea since the period.
