  • The purpose of this paper is to develop and apply instructional model to improve awareness of information accessibility for gifted students in computer science. The model applied to class is designed based on Problem-Based Learning(PBL). The class was for 42 students(22 elementary school students, 20 middle school students), and the questions, cognition of the necessity for accessibility, behavior intent for accessibility were given before and after class. Additionally, interest, satisfaction and flow were given after the class. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, it shows a difference on the changes of cognition on the necessity and behavior intent. As a gender difference, specifically, it shows a difference on the cognition of female students's necessity and behavior intent of male students. As a class level difference, specifically, it statistically shows a meaningful difference on cognitive of the necessity of elementary school students and behavior intent of middle school students. Secondly, after class, it shows a high level of interest, satisfaction. But it shows a general level of flow, so various strategies should be developed for covering the flow level.

  • As a professional occupation, landscape education focuses on fostering professional human resources and is one of the major axes of the landscape industry. In this study, a survey of landscape students on their learning and pedagogics was conducted with the aim to present basic information for the improvement of teaching on landscape construction. A total of 348 people answered 14 questions in the category of the impression of landscape construction classes included in the questionnaire. The results showed that the students found landscape construction classes academically important and recognized the necessity for completing these classes, but they were not satisfied with the learning environments and pedagogics used in these classes. They found what they learned not readily applicable to actual practice and saw these classes as part of their preparations for the landscape engineer qualification test. Their demands in relation to the classes included field practice-oriented teaching and participation in various programs for field practice, which highlights the necessity for human resource management-oriented classes that cover planning, design, construction, and management. Challenges in relation to field practice included the provision of environment, for example offering a variety of opportunities and improving treatment in practice. This study has significance in that it analyzed the views of students and discussed directions for future improvement since there is a lack of studies and discussions about education in the field of landscape construction. This study also has a limitation that only four-year universities were included in the study. Comprehensive studies including investigating junior college and graduate school curricula and case studies of landscape construction curricula overseas are needed in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine 'Design Thinking' based Chemistry Class program as an education strategy for core competence of creative convergence talent. The program stages were modified and supplemented into eight stages, including 'Knowledge Understand', 'Empathy', 'Sharing perspective', 'Ideate', '1st Prototype', '1st Test', '2nd Prototype', and '2nd Test', so that the 'Design Thinking Process in Science Education' can be applied to the chemistry class. Considering the linkage between the 2015 and 2009 revised national curriculum, the achievement criteria were selected, and the lesson plans and student activity sheet were developed according to the themes to be met. Four thematic educational programs were developed and applied to Chemistry I for the second grade of high school students from March to August. The results were verified through qualitative data analysis of the class scene and pre- and post-test based on inventories of 'Empathy' 'STEAM educational competence', 'Problem solving process'. As a result of applying the developed program, 'empathy' showed a significant improvement in empathy with others and empathy with the problem situation. In 'STEAM educational competence', there was a significant enhancement in science and design competence. In the 'problem finding process', the problem definition, problem solution design, and problem-solving review were significantly improved in the 'problem-solving process'. The results of this study provided implications for the applicability of design thinking - based chemistry classes and its educational effect.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the elementary pre-service teachers' perspectives on the use of the elementary mathematics textbooks by observing mathematics classes at the schools and to present suggestions on the use of textbooks in the mathematics classes. For this study, let 54 pre-service elementary school teachers observe a total of 54 classes (1,299 students) in the first through sixth grades at 15 areas in Seoul city. With the observations of the mathematics classes, the researcher analyzed the pre-service elementary teachers' perspectives on the use of resources including mathematics textbooks in the elementary mathematics classes. As a result of the study, the pre-service teachers recognized that mathematics textbooks are the main material for mathematics classes, but they think that they need to reconstruct the contents of the textbooks for effective teaching and learning mathematics. In addition, various additional materials need to be used in order to help students learn mathematics more effectively, including by differentiated materials. Also, instruments used in the classes were mainly consisted of TV and PPT data. Pre-service teachers were not much satisfied with the contents of the elementary mathematics textbooks. However, they did not feel the need for development of digital textbooks. The researcher suggested a long term research on how to use study materials such as textbooks within the overall mechanism of teaching and learning processes. Also, practical teacher education programs that include applications of textbooks at schools are necessary in order to improve the quality of mathematics teaching and learning.

The results of this study are as follow: First, the actuality cognition of science teachers on science laboratory and class environment was lower than preference (p<.05). Second, there were no differences between preference and actuality regardless of gender (p<.05). However, the cognition on all of subordinates of preference appeared higher in females than males (p<.05). Third, at all levels of schools, preference is higher than actuality for science laboratory and teaching environment (p<.05). In case of preference, all of the subordinates indicated the difference between elementary and high school teachers (p<.05). On the other hand, in actuality there was a difference between elementary and middle school teachers in 'science laboratory facilities condition' domain only (p<.05). Fourth, the preference was higher than actuality in all school locations (p<.05). And in case of preference, there was no difference in all subordinates regardless of school sites. Whereas the cognition of small-medium city teachers was lower than metropolitan in actuality on the three domains of 'science laboratory facilities condition,' 'teaching condition and service support,' and 'staff policy and practice' (p<.05). As a result, this study informs that upgrading is necessary to achieve inquiry activity in science class in overall teaching environment including science classroom and laboratory.

Research result was as following. First, learner and educational characteristics were confirmed to have an indirect impact on learning outcomes, which were mediated by learning satisfaction and commitment. Second, adult learner's characteristics directly influenced to learning commitment and satisfaction as well as educational institutions did. Third, learning commitment also directly affected learning satisfaction and outcomes. Fourth, learning satisfaction had a strong influence on learning outcomes. By all accounts, learning outcomes was directly influenced by learner, educational characteristics, and learning satisfaction. In addition, learning outcomes was indirectly impacted by mediating with learning satisfaction and commitment. Therefore, lifelong educational institutions should reinforce any strategies in order to enhance learning outcomes such as developing and providing more variable programs, making better class atmosphere and facility, positioning highly qualified teachers, and one-stop administration services.
