The purpose of this paper are to analyze about sleeping and eating habits of children and to propose short and long-term plans for problems. To analyze problems of sleeping and eating habits of children, we did survey for children. The oriented children of survey are students who are the third grade or sixth grade of elementary school. They are distinguished between rual and urpan area. The main of survey are the purpose of using computer, computer using time, daily sleeping time, the quality of sleeping, the cause of insufficient sleep and change of eating habits by using computer. According to result of survey, computer using time affect sleeping and eating habits in case of a part of children. Therefore, a teaching plan for computer using habits is needed in elementary school.
Objectives : The authors investigated the practice of sleep hygiene and its effectiveness in general population who had experienced insomnia. If we find the items which be little practiced but especially effective, we would establish empirical an and theoretical basis to design the treatment program for insomnia, therefore apply it in clinical practice. Methods : The 226 subjects who had experienced insomnia, were at the age above 18 in Seoul, Korea. The questionnaire included the demographic data, the experience of insomnia, and the practices and effects of sleep hygiene instruction. The interview was administered face to face by the investigators. Results : The subjects reported that they practiced many of the sleep hygiene items related with arousal in sleep setting, and that those items were effective. The items such as 'get regular exercise each day(H)', 'take a hot bath(H)', 'concentrate on the pleasant feeling of relaxation(A)' were not usually practiced, but these items were reported very effective for sleep. Conclusion : The findings suggested that there were sleep hygiene items which should be educated and directed to practice actively in treatment program for insomniacs. Some items, which were especially reported low practice but highly effective, would be recommended to be studied about each therapeutic effectiveness in follow-up studies.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relevance of mental health and nutritional intake according to the sleep duration of Korean adolescents. This study was based on data from the 2007-2016 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHNES), including 5,489 total subjects (2,795 middle school students, 2,694 high school students). The association between sleep duration and mental health was analyzed using a logistic regression analysis, and the link between sleep duration and nutritional intake was analyzed via a generalized linear model. An analysis of sleep duration showed that middle school students had a higher average sleep duration than high school students (P<0.0001). An analysis of the relationship between sleep duration and mental health showed that middle school students had lower rates of stress perception (P<0.0001) and suicidal ideation (P=0.0005) as their sleep duration increased. High school students had 53% less suicidal ideation in the group getting 6-7 hours compared to the group getting less than 6 hours, and 37% less suicidal ideation than the group getting 7-8 hours. The link between sleep duration and stress perception was statistically significant among both middle and high school students (P for interaction=0.02). An analysis of the daily intake of major nutrients according to sleep hours found high intake of vitamin C in groups where high school students slept more than nine hours (P=0.003). The state of nutritional intake according to higher sleep duration showed statistically significant differences between higher intake of phosphorus, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C in Nutrient Adequacy Ratio for high school students. In conclusion, adolescents' sleep duration is associated with stress perception, suicidal ideation and nutritional intake. Therefore, this study emphasizes the mental importance of adolescent sleep and can be used as a basis for nutrition education.
Objectives: Depression, sleep complaints and cognitive impairments are commonly observed in the elderly. Elderly subjects with depressive symptoms have been found to show both poor cognitive performances and sleep disturbances. However, the relationship between sleep complaints and cognitive dysfunction in elderly depression is not clear. The aim of this study is to identify the association between sleep disturbances and cognitive decline in late-life depression. Methods: A total of 282 elderly people who underwent nocturnal polysomnography in a sleep laboratory were enrolled in the study. The Korean version of the Neuropsychological Assessment Battery developed by the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD-K) was applied to evaluate cognitive function. Depressive symptoms were assessed with the geriatric depression scale (GDS) and subjective sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburg sleep quality index (PSQI). Results: The control group ($GDS{\leq}9$) when compared with mild ($10{\leq}GDS{\leq}16$) and severe ($17{\leq}GDS$) depression groups, had significantly different scores in the Trail making test part B (TMT-B), Benton visual retention test part A (BVRT-A), and Stroop color and word test (SCWT)(all tests p<0.05). The PSQI score, REM sleep duration, apnea-hypopnea index and oxygen desaturation index were significantly different across the three groups (all indices, p<0.05). A stepwise multiple regression model showed that educational level, age and GDS score were predictive for both TMT-B time (adjusted $R^2$=35.6%, p<0.001) and BVRT-A score (adjusted $R^2$=28.3%, p<0.001). SCWT score was predicted by educational level, age, apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and GDS score (adjusted $R^2$=20.6%, p<0.001). Poor sleep quality and sleep structure alterations observed in depression did not have any significant effects on cognitive deterioration. Conclusion: Older adults with depressive symptoms showed mild sleep alterations and poor cognitive performances. However, we found no association between sleep disturbances (except sleep apnea) and cognitive difficulties in elderly subjects with depressive symptoms. It is possible that the impact of sleep disruptions on cognitive abilities was hindered by the confounding effect of age, education and depressive symptoms.
This study was conducted to identify the correlation between smartphone addiction, sleep quality, and depression in college students. The participants were 304 college students in G area. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and data were analyzed by frequency, percent, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation between smartphone addiction and sleep quality, a significant positive correlation between smart addiction and depression, and a significant negative correlation between sleep quality and depression. Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a useful basic data when looking for education and program development strategies to improve and prevent smartphone addiction, sleep quality, and depression of college students. In addition, it is required to apply a systematic educational program considering this.
The purpose of this study is to measure quality of sleep (PSQI) and to investigate the affecting factors according to sex in college students. The participants in this study were 214 students from 4 universities. The data were analyzed by t-test, chi-square test and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. The mean score of quality of sleep was 2.83, for male students are 2.70 and female students 3.06. In multiple regression analysis, physical stress, psychological stress and exercise were significant predictors and explained 25.4% of quality of sleep for male students. In female students, physical stress, psychological stress and drinking were significant predictors and explained 39.2% of quality of sleep. It is necessary to develop and apply education and counseling that can solve factors affecting the quality of sleep of college students.
Sleep is known to be a major factor that reduces the quality of life in the human body. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sleep and sleep in a group that has been diagnosed with diabetes. This study used raw data from the Community Health Survey and targeted a total of 227,754 people. Data analysis used cross-tabulation and logistic regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, gender, age, diabetes experience, subjective health status, sleep time, smoking, drinking, and blood sugar awareness were different from the diabetes experience group. In the group with diabetes diagnosis experience, the odds ratio for sleep time was 1.4 times higher in the group with 5 hours of sleep than in the group with 6 to 7 hours of sleep. In the future, empirical research may be needed to determine the relationship with sleep time, and this study showed the importance of sleep time. Based on the importance of sleep time, there is a need to develop a health management program that considers the importance of sleep for those who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
In 2017, the world's first WIG ship (WIG: Wing In-Ground) pilot's license written test was conducted in Korea. The WIG ship is a ship that combines the characteristics of ships and airplanes. Therefore, the pilot of the WIG ship was allowed to apply only for those who had the aircraft pilot's license and the 6th class marine nautical license. The WIG ship pilot's license system was first introduced by Korea, so there are no international standards for the license system, and the introduction of a domestic qualification system also requires institutional arrangements due to various restrictions such as pilot training. However, in order to become a valuable industry as a future growth engine for the ocean, several urgent problems need to be solved, and that is the training of manpower for WIG ships. Therefore, I reviewed the institutional issues related to pilot training as this subject. Since 2001, various countries around the world have been discussing this issue, centering on IMO, and Korea has continued to participate and cooperate in IMO meetings. And the national qualification test for surface flying ships was conducted in Korea from 2011. However, there are still problems to be solved, and I pointed out the advancement of the manpower training system, the education and training system, and the designated national educational institution system. As a solution to this, it was suggested through the improvement of the license system and the operation of designated educational institutions. Among these solutions, I believe that the best way is to entrust the operation of designated national educational institutions to private educational institutions. However, I propose a plan that the government entrusts to private educational institutions, but the government is responsible for licensing and supervision. WIG ship will be a new market for the aviation industry and aviation workers.
