A Study on the Selection Processes in Public Libraries (공공도서관의 자료선정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper strives to illustrate the selection processes in public libraries. It specifically attempts to survey the budget allocation, collection development policy, usage of selection criteria, and priority of selection decision in collection development units in public libraries. Staff structure, committee activities, methods of selection, usage of selection tools and librarians' recognitions about selection process are also investigated. Data are drawn from a survey with 315 public libraries in the country. Specific statistics to be analyzed via literature, although not detailed in nature, are scrutinized as well. As a conclusion, the paper discusses such an issue as current situation in selection of materials public libraries and possible impetus toward a better collection development process.

  • Big data analysis needs a new tool for decision making in view of data volume, speed, and variety. Many global IT enterprises are announcing a variety of Big data products with easy to use, best functionality, and modeling capability. Big data packages are defined as a solution represented by analytic tools, infrastructures, platforms including hardware and software. They can acquire, store, analyze, and visualize Big data. There are many types of products with various and complex functionalities. Because of inherent characteristics of Big data, selecting a best Big data package requires expertise and an appropriate decision making method, comparing the selection problem of other software packages. The objective of this paper is to suggest a decision making method for selecting a Big data package. We compare their characteristics and functionalities through literature reviews and suggest selection criteria. In order to evaluate the feasibility of adopting packages, we develop two Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) models where the goal node of a model consists of costs and benefits and the other consists of selection criteria. We show a numerical example how the best package is evaluated by combining the two models.

Qualitative Assessment Tools of Leisure Activities for the Elderly :Convergence study (노인 여가활동 질적 평가도구 고찰에 대한 융합연구)

  • This study comprehensively reviewed and summarized the research on the qualitative assessment tools of elderly leisure activities. 232 papers were searched in three databases, domestic and foreign, and nine were selected to meet the selection criteria. Five out of nine studies (55.5%) have been written in the last five years and have been implemented in six countries. As for the number of questions in the evaluation tool, 20 to 40 items were the most with 6 studies (66.6%), and 7 out of 9 studies used a 3-7 point Likert scale. There were a total of 37 variables related to leisure activities, and the most variables related to mental. Previously developed evaluation tools were biased toward the measurement of specific variables or did not fit the domestic situation. In the future, various variables of leisure activities for the elderly can be measured qualitatively, and a wide range of instruments that reflect the characteristics of the elderly in Korea should be developed.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the concept mapping tools and provide implications for designing tools that support collaborative learning activities. For this purpose, representative concept mapping tools - Convince Me, Knowledge Forum, Cmaptools, Mindmeister, Belvedere - was analyzed by using the 3C(Communication, Coordination, Cooperation) framework. We have applied three research methods; 1) literature review on design principles of tools, 2) heuristic evaluation, 3) focus group interview. As a result, most of comcept mapping tools supported communication functions but partialy supported coordication and cooperation features.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe self-management related to diabetic nephropathy(DN) patients and analyze instrument for measurement of self-management. Literature search was conducted using computerized databases such as Pubmed, CINAHL, Embase, and Cochrane. The search term of this study were "Diabetes Mellitus", "Self-care", "Kidney Disease". A total of 8 articles were collected and 8 measurement instruments used in the study. But, included studies were assessing the self-management for DN using non-DN specific instruments. Thus, DN specific instrument for measuring the self-care should be developed in future study.

Development of the Disaster Nursing Competency Scale for Nursing students (간호대학생을 위한 재난간호역량 측정도구 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a disaster nursing competency scale for nursing students. 23 preliminary items were selected by classifying 44 disaster nursing core concepts extracted via literature review. Content validity was done by expert panel. In order to verify the reliability and validity of the preliminary instrument, data were collected from 270 nursing students in 2 colleges of nursing in Korea. One factor 11 items in disaster nursing skills and one factor 11 items in disaster nursing knowledges were extracted by factor analysis. This instrument may be useful to identity a disaster nursing competency and its related factors for nursing students.

A Study on the Improvement Direction for Online Finding Aids: Based on the Assessment of National Archives (온라인 검색도구의 개선 방안에 관한 연구 - 국립기록관 검색도구에 대한 평가를 중심으로 -)

  • Many archives, including the National Archives of Korea, use online finding aids. However, in many aspects, they need improvement. In this study, with focus on the National Archives of Korea, the online finding aids of the National Archives of Australia (NAA), The National Archives (TNA) of United Kingdom, and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of the United States were analyzed. Focus group interview was administered to users of the archives, identifying the pros and cons of online finding aids of NAA, TNA, and NARA. Based on the results, various improvement and development directions are suggested, including aspects on overall functions and hierarchical search, search options and subject search, representing search results, and archival contents services.

Development and Validation of a Scale for Teacher Efficacy for Early Childhood Teachers (영유아교사의 교사효능감 측정도구 개발과 타당화)

  • Objective: The purpose of the present study is to develop a teacher efficacy scale of early childhood teachers and explore the validity and reliability of it. Methods: As the first step of this research, 17 teacher efficacy factors were extracted from previous studies on related areas and a survey from directors, teachers, and professors. The preliminary 83 items applicable to the chosen factors were developed and revised through content validity test from seven early childhood professionals, pilot test, item correction, main survey, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Four hundred seventy one teachers working in a kindergarten or day care center participated in this study. Results: The teacher efficacy scale for early childhood teachers was finalized with 3 factors and 23 items. The teacher efficacy scale was composed of 16 items in teaching competence, 4 items in interpersonal relationship, and 3 items in a sense of calling. Conclusion/Implications: In this study, the valid and reliable teacher efficacy scale was developed. This scale might be a useful tool to develop the further studies in the topics of teacher efficacy and teacher education by analyzing the relationship between efficacy of early childhood teachers and other variables.

  • 디지털 기술의 발전으로 데이터의 규모와 형태의 다양성이 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있다. 많은 업계에서 빅데이터를 비즈니스와 사용자의 서비스 제공에 사용하고 있으며 데이터의 중요성 또한 커지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 빅데이터를 처리하기 위한 단계를 수집, 저장, 그리고 처리 및 분석 단계로 나눈 후, 단계별로 가장 높은 관심도를 가진 도구를 선정하고, 소프트웨어 리뷰 분석을 통해 긍부정 인식을 판단하며 인식 결정 요인을 조사한다. 이를 통해 다양한 빅데이터 생태계 속에서 사용자들이 관심을 많이 두고 있는 빅데이터 도구의 트렌드를 쉽게 파악하고 관련 빅데이터 도구를 선택하는 데에 도움을 줄 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 초등학생을 위한 데이터 분석 대회를 활용한 데이터 분석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 데이터 분석 프로그램은 ADDIE 모형에 개발하였다. 분석 단계에서 G초등학교 학생들의 데이터 분석 도구인 스프레드 시트를 학습한 경험이 적고 배우고자 하는 동기가 없었다. 하지만 교육과정에서 공학도구로 활용하도록 제시되어 있다. 이를 바탕으로 디자인 학생들이 스프레드 시트를 학습할 수 있는 프로그램과 이를 실습할 수 있는 데이터 분석 대회를 디자인 하였다. 개발 단계에서는 LMS를 활용하여 학생들에게 학습을 위한 데이터를 제공하고 학습하며, 데이터 분석 대회에서는 학습한 데이터와 문제만 제공하여 대회에 참여하면서 실습할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 평가 도구로는 데이터 리터러시 평가 도구를 선정하였다.
