EMG Pattern Classification using Soft Computing Techniques and Its Application to the Control of a Rehabilitation Robotic Arm (소프트 컴퓨팅 기법을 이용한 근전도 신호의 패턴 분류와 재활 로봇 팔 제어에의 응용)

  • In this paper, a new EMG pattern classification method based on soft computing techniques is proposed to help the disabled and the elderly handle rehabilitation robotic arm systems. First, it is shown that EMG is more useful than existing input devices such as voice, a laser pointer and a keypad in view of naturality, extensibility, and applicability. Then, a new procedure is proposed to select the minimal feature set. As methods of classifying the pre-defined motions, a fuzzy pattern classification and fuzzy min-max neural networks (FMMNN) are designed using the selected features. As results, the motions are recognized with success rates of 83 percent and 90 Percent using fuzzy pattern classification and FMMNN, respectively.

  • In developing information systems, omissions and redundancies of user requirements are too frequent to increase development cost as they need to be remedied at later stages. In order to cope with this problem, various tools describing business processes have been proposed in the past and yet fewer attempts have been made to systematically and categorically evaluate performance of individual tools describing business processes. In this paper, we offer a general framework for appraising competing tools for describing business processes, including ERD, DFD, and Use Case Diagram in terms of ease of use, completeness, chance of having omissions, and. Based on a exemplary business From the measures proposed in this paper for comparing descriptive tools, ERD turns out to stand out over other often-used methodologies. Despite its problem with poor readability, ERD proves to offer relatively higher expressive power and ease of use. Being supplemented by well-formed job descriptions, ERD would remain a better choice in developing business information systems.

  • A super speed maglev is a complicated system integrating electric, electronic, mechanic, civil and construction engineering. So, there must be an integrative system to monitor and manage operation requirements and standard features of each subsystem and the interfaces between each technology. As an indispensable part that can ensure whole system performance, a secure interface for each individual subsystem is an important management item of system engineering. By securing the interface performance of each individual subsystem, system failure can be effectively prevented in advance. Based on system engineering techniques, improvement of security and reliability for a super speed maglev is described in this research.

  • In general, topographical phenomena are represented graphically by data in the spatial domain, while attributes of the non-spatial domain are expressed by alpha-numeric texts. GIS functions for analysis of attributes in the non-spatial domain remain quite simple, such as search methods and simple statistical analysis. Recently, graph modeling and network analysis of social phenomena are commonly used for understanding various social events and phenomena. In this study, we applied the network analysis functions to the non-spatial domain data of GIS to enhance the overall spatial analysis. For this purpose, a novel design was presented to integrate the spatial database and the graph database, and this design was then implemented into a WebGIS system for better decision makings. The developed WebGIS with underlying synchronized databases, was tested in a simulated application about the selection of water supply households during an epidemic of the foot-and-mouse disease. The results of this test indicate that the developed WebGIS can contribute to improved decisions by taking into account the social proximity factors as well as geospatial factors.

  • We have to carry out systematic, definite requirements analysis for the successful development of software. The UML gives the ways to grasp user or customer requirements and decide the boundary of business systems from the use case modeling. This paper presents how to extract use case diagram from the requirements specification systematically by applying the standardized rules as a part of the study for use case modeling. We modify requirements specification by applying $R_{RS}$ (Rules for Requirements Specification) and extract actor, use case, relationship by applying $R_{A}$(Rules for Actors), $R_{U}$(Rules for Use Cases) and $R_{R}$(Rules for Relationships) to the modified requirements specification separately and then become to make out use case diagram in the end. By applying the rules presented in this paper to the requirements specification for personnel management, we can reduce the existing difficulties of extracting use case diagram based on the narrative descriptions without any standardized rules.rules.

Providing Dynamic Personalized Commercials for PDRs in Metadata Service Environment (메타데이터 서비스 환경에서의 PDR을 위한 역동적 맞춤형 광고 제공 기법)

  • The convergence of metadata service and the PDR with digital storage device enables new services. Among which, providing dynamic commercials make it possible for the commercials stored in the PDR to be a beneficial information source instead of a dull and not-so-interesting time-consuming content. It also improves consumer concentration and makes the commercials more effective. This paper provides list of various functionality provided by dynamic personalized commercials based on metadata and PDR. The proposed information structure supporting these functionality is based on the digital item concept of MPEG-2I. This paper also provides brief description on how the proposed information structure can be used to implement the listed functionality of dynamic persona1ized commercials.

xPlaneb: 3-Dimensional Bitmap Index for Index Document Retrieval (xPlaneb: XML문서 검색을 위한 3차원 비트맵 인덱스)

  • XML has got to be a new standard for data representation and exchanging by its many good points, and the core part of many new researches and emerging technologies. However, the self-describing characteristic, which is one of XML's good points, caused the spreading of XML documents with different structures, and so the need of the research for the effective XML-document search has been proposed. This paper is for the analysis of the problem in BitCube, which is a bitmap indexing that shows high performance grounded on its fast retrieval. In addition, to resolve the problem of BitCube, we did design and implement xPlaneb(XML Plane Web) which it a new 3-dimensional bitmap indexing made of linked lists. We propose an effective information retrieval technique by replacing BitCube operations with new ones and reconstructing 3-dimensional array index of BitCube with effective nodes. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed technique is better than BitCube, as the amount of document increases, in terms of memory consumptions and operation speed.

A Study on the Evaluation System for Night Lighting Design of Chinese Ancient Building by using AHP Method (AHP 기법을 활용한 중국 고건축물 야간경관 조명디자인의 평가에 관한 연구)

  • For cities with ancient buildings at core areas, night lighting is an effective means to demonstrate their history and culture. In this regard, night scenes of these ancient buildings are evaluated from multiple aspects, such as color rendition, brightness ratio affected by ambient light and technological realization of lighting facilities. This study builds a visual evaluation system for night scenes of ancient buildings based on three dimensions, namely ancient architecture carrier performance, visual perception and technological realization, and explains specific evaluation sub-criteria one by one. In addition, this study adopts Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze the impact of each sub-criteria item on the weight of the whole evaluation system, and conducts a consistency test to show that the evaluation system meets the reasonable requirements of hierarchy setting. Moreover, relative importance of each sub-criteria item may be determined based on their corresponding weights.

A Time-Series Data Prediction Using TensorFlow Neural Network Libraries (텐서 플로우 신경망 라이브러리를 이용한 시계열 데이터 예측)

  • This paper describes a time-series data prediction based on artificial neural networks (ANN). In this study, a batch based ANN model and a stochastic ANN model have been implemented using TensorFlow libraries. Each model are evaluated by comparing training and testing errors that are measured through experiment. To train and test each model, tax dataset was used that are collected from the government website of indiana state budget agency in USA from 2001 to 2018. The dataset includes tax incomes of individual, product sales, company, and total tax incomes. The experimental results show that batch model reveals better performance than stochastic model. Using the batch scheme, we have conducted a prediction experiment. In the experiment, total taxes are predicted during next seven months, and compared with actual collected total taxes. The results shows that predicted data are almost same with the actual data.

Case Study of Supportive Music Imagery for Enhancing Self-Worth (지지적 음악심상(SMI)기법을 통한 내담자의 자기가치감 증진에 대한 사례연구)

  • As a case study of the application of supportive music and imagery (SMI), this study examined the impact of SMI in helping clients establish greater self-worth. Sense of self-worth was defined as trust and respect for the self as evidenced by understanding of one's individuality and uniqueness. Participants in the study were two adults in need of help with psychological challenges arising from low self-worth. Each of them participated in SMI sessions once a week, for a total of 6 weeks. Participants' statements on the imagery drawn by them during SMI sessions were analyzed in relation to components of the sense of self-worth. The results of this study showed that SMI sessions helped both clients recognize their internal resources and gaining insight into the value of their internal resources increased their evaluation of their own self-worth. Specific factors of SMI sessions that impacted the clients' self-worth and suggestions for future studies are also discussed.
