This paper conveys the limitations of analog natural history sample information in digital form, giving viewers interest and fun, and presenting the direction of digital diorama utilization of sample exhibitions. In this exhibition, through various media such as 10,000 won bill dramas and newspaper articles, the Sun and Moon and Five Peaks, a picture familiar to the public, was reproduced in media art so that it can be realized in real life. It is a Joseon Dynasty work in which five mountain peaks, a pair of waterfalls, and four pine trees are drawn symmetrically from side to side. In order to express the vividness of nature, the symbols of the sun and moon were created with the effect of light to maximize immersion, and animals such as waves, crane movements, deer, ramie butterflies, and carp were inserted under the mountain peaks to create the vividness of nature and creatures playing in them. The media art folding screen was produced and directed as a screen. In addition, the introduction of the work and information related to the living things in the work were provided through QR codes.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the commemoration culture of Vietnam War Memorials (VWM) in Vietnam. Through site survey, the researcher selected 23 VWM in Vietnam and analyzed 5 categories: memorial type, design concept and narratives, location and spatial form, landscape elements, and content expressed in landscape details. The results are as follows: 1. Because of the long, drawn out Vietnam War, which lasted from 1955 to 1975, VWM were divided into 10 types mainly as soldier cemeteries based on a traditional memorial style, battlefields and places of tragedies considering sense of place, war museums representing victory and atrocity in war, and peace parks promoting reconciliation and peacemaking. 2. The analysis revealed that the main concepts and narratives of VWM were to value the victims of the Vietnam War, remember soldiers' contributions, highlight the victory in war and resistance to the United States, and express a sense of place. Peacemaking applied only to My Lai Peace Park and Han-Viet Hoa Binh Cong Vien, built by international cooperation. 3. Cemeteries and appreciation memorials were designed to follow a traditional memorial space form that highly regard both axis and symmetry. The design concept at battlefields and places where tragedies occurred depended mainly upon a sense of place and used symbolic landscape elements to compensate for the undefined concept. 4. Sculptures and towers were mainly used to highlight war victory and resistance as the representative style of a Socialist country, weapons and pictures exhibited in war museums and battlefield showed the reality and strain of war. Symbolic elements of Buddhism and Confucianism were often introduced as a way to venerate the memory of deceased persons. 5. The state and heroic actions in the Vietnam War were realistically depicted on sculptures and walls. Also, the symbolic phrase, 'TO-QUOC-GUI-CONG' meaning 'our country remember your achievement', were written on the memorial tower and 'Quagmiire' was used to metaphorically represent the difficulties faced by the U.S. military on battlefields during the war and the uncertainly that pervaded U.S. society in those days. 6. In VWM, ideologies like nationalism, patriotism, socialism, capitalism were mixed and traditional cultures like Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism were inherent. Differing from their Confucianism culture, war heroes, particularly including women, were often described by sculpture, monument, and pictures and the conflict in and outside the country regarding the Vietnam War was shown. Further study will be required to analyze design characteristics of VWM in the u.s. and to understand the difference in commemoration cultures between Vietnam and the U.S.
China has had many excellent Chinese-style animation since the 1950s. These animations are of distinctive Chinese national characteristics. They have won many awards both at home and abroad, such as "Feelings of Mountains and Waters", "Uproar In Heaven", "Why is the Crow Black-Coated" and so on. But nowadays, Chinese animations that mimics Japanese and American animation are very often, and there are few animation works with rich traditional Chinese culture. There are some works in the name of Chinese style, but they have not been fully accepted by the audiences. If one wants to create animated works of Chinese style, the author must have an in-depth understanding of Chinese traditional and folk art. Animation can not be designed only on the surface. This paper mainly studies the traditional five color concept in China and its application in animation. The purpose is to provide some references to differentiate Chinese animation from other countries in terms of style and color. The main content of this paper is to understand the concept and history of Chinese traditional five color views, and to know that this color system has reflected the ancestors' concept of nature and society. On the basis of five monochromatic colors, red, yellow, green, white and black, it is a kind of complex color concept that has been developed and perfected continuously after a long period of accumulation and precipitation in the practice of life. It is the theoretical basis of Chinese traditional color system and a complete set of historical, cultural, philosophical and religious theories. Finally, this paper analyzes the colors and their symbolic meanings of the main roles in "Uproar In Heaven", a color long animation produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, including Sun Wukong, the Jade Emperor and Na Zha. Color is the first visual language. The use of color symbols to express the inner feelings, status, good and evil of the characters will affect the audience's emotions, behaviors and opinions imperceptibly. The traditional Chinese five color concept has gone through such a long history, and its symbolic meaning has a more profound impact on Chinese people. Applying the color concept and symbolic meaning of Chinese traditional five color concept will further highlight the personalities and emotions of the roles in Chinese style animations. This paper takes the five-color view as the theoretical basis, and through the analysis of cartoons with traditional Chinese color, the author finds ways to flexibly use traditional Chinese culture.
The emotion and culture of an age are reflected through several mediums. The special quality and generality are discovered through household utensils used in everyday life specially. This paper was intended as proceeding study for brand development with national empathic relationship. In this article, we were here concerned with symbolism and features for stories of traditional pattern on ancestral common household utensils, and considered about development possibility by brand of tradition pattern. As analysis for symbolism of traditional pattern, re-sorting and classifying pattern, meaning, symbol and stories of pattern based on 'Blessing notion' were set. It was found from the analysis that meaning and symbol of traditional pattern were set up and stories for them were excerpted. This study defines tradition pattern classified based on 'Blessing notion' as '8 Blessing pattern', and investigated development possibility and derivative value of it. We discovered through this study that 'Blessing patterns' function as communicator, have 4 abilities in sympathy with brand paradigm, and have 6 elements of brand identity. Furthermore, 'Blessing Patierns' have some derivative functions; cognitive intension, expression, loyalty, differentiation and symbol. This research will become basis of study for brand development having 'Empathic relationship' and foundation of 'Blessing brand' that is available to be umbrella and super brand. A further direction of this study will be to make 'Blessing brand series' and to create culture of it. We hope Korean brand market goes a step further through our studies
For a long time, we have been good at the static image, 'the country of calm morning' as reminding Korea. But, it became a chance that we were recognized newly and actively through the success of the Olympic games in 1988 and World cup games in 2002 all over the world. And foreigners' interest and expectation for Korea becomes much higher by these reasons. Moreover, the importance of our cultural industry, recognition for new cultural improvement have been changing step by step by the oriental trend in Asia in these days. So, this study intends to realize the Korean symbol with showing Korean Identity and its image's applying to the street furniture design through the making of special street which expresses well the Korean Image. There is a purpose of this study not to use as just street furniture but to make characterized Korean culture through showing examples which are based on Korean culture. The way of the improvement for the street furniture design using Korean image are these we analyze the character of Korean international image with the previous data for the change of Korean Image. We understand the symbol of changed Korean international Image, and extract the design elements. We analogize the shape, material and color image of the street furniture which is joined with both the Korean national image and formative traditional elements. At last, we formalize its symbolic image by applying to the street furniture according to the design improvement process with the analogized image. The formal study using Korean image makes more cleary the Korean Identity, and it doesn't influence only the actual change but also Korean cultural value equipment.

This study attempted to examine the loving pigeon culture practiced in traditional gardens and to illuminate the aspect of pigeons as a landscape animal material. In order to understand the culture of enjoying old garden through pigeons, the contents were analyzed for the translated version of the old literatures and paintings. Pigeons have been used as Jeonseo-gu(傳書鳩) and also for medicinal purposes and food. Pigeons have various symbolic meanings such as abundance, hospitality, and longevity. From the Goryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon Dynasty, pigeons were raised in the palace and private garden. In the late Joseon Dynasty, temporary trend of ornamental pigeon culture occurred. Pigeons were synesthesia materials that enriched the forest. Various beautiful pigeons created a variable landscape of the primeval forest as a moving landscape material. The bell sounds that appear differently depending on the pigeon's movement led to a rich auditory experience of the landscape. The pigeon house was an ornamental element that enriched the old garden along with the pigeon. The owners of garden were involved in gardening through the act of buying a pigeon house and placing it in the garden or making a pigeon house themselves. In addition, the writers planted plum trees, peach trees, apricot trees, and hawthorn trees as a symbol of spring and a source of food for pigeons, and expressed them in poems and paintings. This study has a limitation in that the translation of the old text was used as an analysis data. The follow-up studies on specific cases of raising pigeons in the old garden, in modern and contemporary landscape spaces are urged.
Symbol is one of the most profound ways to express the essence of human beings, as well as the most representative non-verbal communication medium. In this study, the descriptions of the clothing and ornaments of the main characters of the novel Little Women were excerpted from the Korean translation version. Based on the hidden symbols from the descriptions, after analyzing the characteristics of the main characters of the novel through their clothing and ornaments, the connection between the clothing and the symbols reflecting the internal workings of the mind was analyzed based on the previous theories on symbols. As proven in this study, since the clothing and ornaments directly symbolize the characteristics of the person, without any explicit statements about his/her characteristics, the clothing itself speaks volumes about them. Clothing is the most accurate visual symbol that speaks of the person's social, economic, and psychological aspects. The use of special clothing and ornaments or the highlight on certain parts reveals the characteristics of the character and his/her situations more effectively. In conclusion, literary, including novels well describes not only external factors, such as the social and cultural status of society and the character's economic situation, but also an individual's psychology such as his/her emotions and personalities. Therefore, the clothing that the character wears in a literary work symbolically reflects these factors.

The residence plan of Korea has been formed with bias for quantitative growth and uniformity failing at obtaining human value. Also, rapid growth brought about severe problems of deteriorated human life and destruction of environment. The solution for these problems is pursued in many directions, but there is short of active plan yet. The residence shall develop into new direction to satisfy the demand by reflecting society and culture as well as residents. This study examines external design with symbolic representation of regional feature as an alternative for uniform residence environment problem. This study will be a basic data upon suggesting the direction for planning high quality residence environment. This study examined the elements which form external space of residence complex, designed plan for external space of residence complex, and examined how to reflect regional feature which is important element of local community and culture on the space plan for residence complex based on the evaluation by local residents centered on Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk which just started local specialty by fostering. 'Special Area for Grape Industry.'
The cultural production of meanings is becoming more and laden with the intricacies of signs and symbols in our times. The idea of 'character' is important as an intermediation for information and an essential characteristic of "the object" experienced through the sence of sight. Character is symbolicin its form but also in its iconic markings. Motion Picture Animation makes Character not just an expression of an image but visual communication that expands the action of meaning piled up, sign upon sign. The analysis of 'character' suggests that motion picture animated characters could play an important role as a cultural mode leading to new styles not merely as an aesthetic mechanism. The study there with analyzed animated character systematically to discem where the sign phenomena shows up in social conventions under the semiotic rigor of Peirce's concepts of icon, index, and symbol.
