This study aims to provide information necessary for developing a "Competency-Based Training and Evaluation Plan" for general aviation flight instructors in Korea. General aviation training experts designed a survey by selecting "Behavior Indicators" from the ICAO Flight Instructor Competency Model. This study analyses the importance of Behavioral Indicators, the level of instructor performance, and the training needs for flight instructors. According to the factor analysis, ICAO "Flight Instructor Competency Model" is found as a valid tool to measure general aviation flight instructor competencies. According to the training needs analysis, flight instructors training program needs to be improved on "Training Environment Management", "Teaching Method", and "Interaction" competencies. When compared with trainee group, flight instructors & examiners have a higher training demand for "Teaching & Learning Environment Management". This study suggests the flight instructor training program requires to be reorganized based on the competencies related to the flight instructor duties in the training environments.

Since the MPL (Multi-Crew Pilot License) Program was introduced in Korea in 2009, there has not been a single pilot licensed under the MPL Program. To successfully implement the MPL Program in Korea, it is necessary for an Approved Training Organization to develop the MPL Flight Instructor Training Program and foster excellent MPL Flight Instructors. However, there are no rules or guidelines regarding the MPL Flight Instructor Training Program in Korea. This study suggests the Training Specification for the MPL Flight Instructor, including the training syllabus, training and assessment methods. The MPL Flight Instructor Training Program should be composed of minimum 14-hour academic and practical training, which includes the concept of Competency-Based Training, CRM, Competency, Behavior Indicator and Assessment. To be qualified for the MPL Flight Instructor, candidates need to successfully complete the course and pass the practical test. In order to maintain the qualification, MPL Flight Instructors should comply to recency and recurrent training requirements.

Flight instructors at aviation training centers are exposed to various stresses, such as stress caused by special work environments, stress caused by working conditions, and stress related to uncertain future airline employment. These stresses are expected to not only affect flight safety, but also adversely affect the job satisfaction of flight instructors, and consequently negatively affect the performance of high-quality flight education. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand the effects of these stresses on the job satisfaction of flight instructors by examining the stress experienced by flight instructors in flight, psychological, and physical aspects based on the results of previous studies on stress. To the end, this study conducted a survey of flight instructors belonging to aviation training centers, and as a result of analyzing the collected data, it was confirmed that the physical stress of flight instructors had a significant negative effect on their job satisfaction.

This research is accomplished to verify objectively how flight instructor's transformative leadership affects student pilot's psychological stabilities and learning satisfactions. Flight instructor's transformative leadership factor divided into individual consideration, intellectual stimulus and charisma from exploring factor analysis. Psychological stability factor subdivided into happiness, concentration and satisfaction. Learning satisfaction factor subdivided into participation, recommendation, persistence, accomplishment and relationship. According to the analysis of flight instructor's transformative leadership effect on psychological stability, it showed that it has statistical significance on happiness, concentration and satisfaction. It also has positive influence on happiness and concentration. The result from regression analysis showed that individual consideration and charisma affected happiness and concentration in order. However, satisfaction from individual consideration, intellectual stimulus and charisma didn't show statistical significance to student pilot's satisfaction. Analysis of flight instructor's transformative leadership on student pilot's learning satisfaction showed statistical significance between them. Intellectual stimulus and charisma had positive influence on student pilot's learning satisfaction. Regression analysis showed charisma and intellectual affect student pilot's learning satisfaction in order.

This study was carried out to verify how much instructor's communication skill affects the student pilot's study motivation and satisfaction. The instructor's communication styles are classified into 3 groups by pre-analysis. Three types are cooperative type, control type and professional type. Intellectual cause, performance proficiency cause, social cause and stimulation avoidance cause are extracted and analyzed for the cause of study motivation. Cooperative and control type affected all of 4 factors of student's study motivation by influence analysis. Intellectual cause affected control and cooperative type positively, especially more to cooperative type. Performance proficiency cause also had positive influence to control and cooperative type. Stimulation avoidance cause didn't appear to affect all sub-classified 4 factors of instructor's communication type. Influence analysis of student's study satisfaction from instructor's communication style showed that independent variable affected all sub factors positively. Degree of positive influence affected the control type the most, cooperative type was the 2nd, and professional type was the 3rd.

This thesis researched student pilots at certified flying school to prove several things as follows. First, this study tried to find out the influence of instructor's leader trust to student pilot. Second, this study also tried to investigate the influence of student pilot's psychological stability from leader trust. Third, this study tried to prove the mediation effect of leader trust between flight instructor's transformation leadership and the student pilot psychological stability. The result of empirical research are as follows. First, the result of the verification of the relationship between transformative leadership and trust of leader showed that transformative leadership has a positive (+) influence to trust of leader. Second, the result of verification between leader trust and psychological stability relationship showed that trust of leader gives positive(+) influence to psychological stability. Third, the result of verification between transformative leadership and psychological stability showed that trust of leader gives positive(+) influence to psychological stability. I discussed implication from this study at the end and presented future research direction.

Currently, flight training is not only a technical instruction that teaches maneuvering operations, but has expertise equal to that of general disciplines. Therefore, flight instructors must have academic knowledge and flight skills. As flight instructors are the first teacher in flight training for students who have never experienced actual flight control, the behavior of flight instructors will affect the students' flight education. Therefore, the influence of flight instructors for students are quite large compared to other educational institutions. In this study, the factors of instructional behavior were determined, and the actual state of instructional behavior of flight instructors were confirmed through students' survey. Improvements were derived to solve the problems identified in the survey results. For the follow-up analysis, improvements were applied to the flight instructors for 8 months, and then re-question was conducted to the same students who responded to the first questionnaire to find out the difference in results before and after through a paired t-test.

This study wanted to confirm whether the DiSC behavior types of student pilots and instructors in the training course of Helicopter pilots affect the flight training achievement. The results of the study are as follows. First, in the distribution of DiSC behavior types of student pilots and instructors, student pilots had the largest number of Dominance with 40.2 percent, while Instructors had the highest number of conscientiousness with 46.5 percent. Second, it was analyzed that the flight training achievement was influenced by the behavior type of student pilots. In basic flight and aircraft type conversion flight, Steadiness had the highest achievement in flight training, and in tactical flight, conscientiousness was the highest. Third, the behavior patterns of student pilots and instructors have been confirmed to have interaction effects in tactical flight.

우주비행체의 내부 장치 고장 혹은 외부 환경에 의한 고장이 발생할 경우를 대비하여 가상 모의 시뮬레이터를 이용한 고장 대응 훈련이 요구된다. 시뮬레이터 개발 초기에 이러한 고장 발생 메커니즘을 설계에 반영하지 않는 경우 교관이 작성한 고장 시나리오에 의한 유기적 고장 발생 및 고장 전파 기능을 납품 후 추가 요구하기는 용이하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 의도하는 고장을 의미있는 시각(Epoch)에 주입하기 위한 고장 발생 메커니즘 구조를 설명한다. 또한 천리안위성 시뮬레이터 소프트웨어의 고장 발생 예제를 통해 고장 감지, 고장 복구, 관제원의 대응 방법 등을 설명한다.

본 연구는 헬리콥터 조종사 교육에 있어서 성공적인 비행훈련 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 탐색적 요인분석을 이용하여 개인의 인지적 특성과 비인지적 특성을 추출하고, 계층적 회귀분석을 통해 이러한 특성(요인)들이 비행훈련 성과에 얼마나 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 그 결과 공간지각능력, 회복탄력성, 숙달목표지향적 학습태도 성향이 높을수록 비행 교육성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 조종사에게 특히 요구되는 공간지각능력의 중요성을 재확인할 수 있었고, 그리고 제한된 조종석 공간에서의 비행교관의 역할, 개인의 올바른 동기부여와 노력이 비행훈련 성과에 영향을 미친다는 것을 재확인시켜준다. 이러한 결과는 향후 헬기 조종사의 효과적인 비행교육에 유용한 지표가 될 것으로 기대한다.
