There are total 403 prescriptions containing Radix Scutellariae in Donguibogam and among them, 106 prescriptions treat Radix Scutellariae as a principal medicine. This report describes the study on therapeutic range, symptom, pathology and composition of 106 Radix Scutellariae-main blended Prescriptions from Donguibogam. The frequency and percentage of Radix Scutellariae-main blended prescriptions for the therapeutic range are as follows; cold symptom-complex is the most frequent(11 prescriptions, 10.37%) and gynecology is second(10 prescriptions, 9.43%). The symptoms that Radix Scutellariae-main blended prescriptions are made out for are 70 prescriptions of 28 therapeutic ranges, for example, minor Eum physical appearance, fire of triple burners jaundice, etc. The main pathologies that Radix Scutellariae-main blended prescriptions are being affected by cold, fire triple burners, dampness and heat, wind and heat, heat of heart and lung, heat of liver, heat of spleen, etc. Through the research into the composition of Radix Scutellariae-main blended prescriptions, the kind of medicines and certain rules of compounding medicines centering on Radix Scutellariae are deduced as follows: The main combinations of herbal medicines are Radix Scutellariae and Fructus Gardeniae, Radix Scutellariae and Rhizona Rhei, and Radix Scutellariae, Rhizona coptidis and Fructus Gardeniae. The main combinations of prescriptions are Yihwanghwan(Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Cotidis, Radix Glycyrrhizae), Boanbaekchulsan(Radix Scutellariae. Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae), Sambohwan(Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Cotidis, Cortex Phellodendrj), Samhwangwon(Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Cotidis, Rhizoma Rhei), Hwangryeonhaedoktang(Radix Scutellariae, Cortex Phellodendri, Rhizoma Cotidis. Fructus Gardeniae), Daegumhwahwan(Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Cotidis, Cortex Phellodendri. Rhizoma Rhei). Sanyeolumja(Radix Scutellariae. Rhizoma Cotidis. Radix Osterici koreani. Radix Ledebouriellae), etc.

This report describes the remedial fields, symptoms, pathology, dosage, prescriptional constitution of 69 studies related to the use of Radix Asari main blended prescriptions from Dongeubogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Radix Asari as a key ingredient. Radix Asari blended prescriptions are utilized for 14 therapeutic purposes, for example, in symptoms of tooth, eye, paralysis, ear-nose, skin infection and carbuncle. In particular, 14.49% of the prescriptions appear in the chapter of tooth, and 10.14% of those appear in the chapter of eye. Prescriptions that utilize Radix Asari as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of dental disease, othalmology, nose and ear disease, throat disease, common cold, dermothology, paralysis, musculoskeletal disease, disease of the head, asthma, genital disease, the injury of the cuts and they are also used for treating 50 different types of diseases. Radix Asari is used in Six pathogenic factors such as wind, wind-cold, wind-heat, wind-dampness heat, wind-dampness, dampness, paralysis, cold-chill, cold, dryness, in visceral pathogenic factors such as stomach, kidney, liver-kidney, liver and in chi-blood pathogenic factors such as chi-blood deficiency, chi-blood stagnation and in extravasated blood pathogenic factors such as impact injury, an injury such as cuts, blood accumulation as well as weakness-cold and parasites. The actual amount of Radix Asari blended has ranged at a wide variety of amounts from 2.5pun(about 0.94gram) to 3don(about 11.25gram). 26.09% of the prescriptions used 1don(about 3.75gram). The function of Radix Asari is to calm down, to get the consciousness back, to bore through, to warm up the meridians and to run it smoothly, to discharge of phlegm from the combination of drugs and prescriptions.

This report describes 61 studies related to the use of Semen Armeniacae Amarum main blended prescriptions from Donguibogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Semen Armeniacae Amarum as a key ingredient. Semen Armeniacae Amarum blended prescriptions are utilized for 16 therapeutic purposes, for example, in symptoms of cough, excrements, wind, and pediatrics. In particular, 52.46% of the prescriptions appear in the chapter of cough, and 9.84% of those appear in the chapter of excrements. Prescriptions that utilize Semen Armeniacae Amarum as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of cough, asthma, lung disease, and constipation, and they are also used for treating 15 different types of diseases. Semen Armeniacae Amarum is used in pathogenic factors such as wind, wind with cold, and wind with moisture, in pathologies related to lung and digestive systems, and in those related to weakness, extravasated blood, and alcoholic drink-food. The actual amount of Semen Armeniacae Amarum blended has ranged at a wide variety of amounts from 5 pun to 5 don. 47.62% of the prescriptions used 1 don. When Semen Armeniacae Amarum is combined with base prescriptions such as Samyotang, Banhaenghwan, ljintang, etc and Herba Ephedrae, Rhizoma Pinelliae, and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, it ceases cough and asthma. In addition, when Semen Armeniacae Amarum is combined with Fructus Ponciri Seu Aurantii and Fructus Cannabis, it brings a relief in constipation.

This study was investigated to make sure the range of the Morus Cortex's treatment, the nature of disease, the chief virtue of medicine, the pathology and the usage quantity of it in Donguibogam The results were as follows; 1. The frequency of being used the Morus Cortex in the consumption or cough-relative chapter is as high as a ratio of 40.6%. 2. The Morus Cortex is used in a realm of the consumption or cough-relative disease, an otorhinolalyngology, an edema, a skin-relative disease, a bleeding trouble, a thirsty and diabetes melitus, etc. 3. The Morus Cortex is used in a realm of the pathology of the pulmonary heat, the pulmonary noxious vigor, the damage from external winds and colds, fatigue, etc. 4. The Morus Cortex is used in a range of $1g{\sim}12g$ in herbal-prescription. The main using dosage is 4g(about 42%). 5. The Morus Cortex is used with various crude herbs in accordance with the pathogeny. The Morus Cortex has been used to reduce heat from the lungs and soothe asthma, to promote urination and reduce edema from shinnongboncho era. According to the results, I suggest that we use the Morus Cortex in a various pathogenic fields. The Morus Cortex is able to remove not only pathogenic heat from the consumption or cough-relative disease, but also pathogenic otorhinolalyngology, an edema, a skin-relative disease, a bleeding trouble, a thirsty and diabetes melitus, etc.

Objectives : This report describes 75 studies related to the use of Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma mainly blended from Dongeuibogam. Methods : The 75 Prescriptions of Consumptive part in DonguiBogam analysed frequency of basic prescriptions, symptoms of prescriptions and the pathology. Results : Prescriptions that Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma was taken as a monarch drug are utilized for 25 therapeutic purposes, for example, cold disease, stool disease, cough disease. In particular, 16.0% of prescriptions appear in the chapter of cold. Prescriptions that utilize Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma as the main component are used in the treatment of cold, stool and cough disease. Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma is used in pathogenic factors such as weakness cold and cold strength and used in pathology related to the spleen and stomach system. The dosage of Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma is 5pun(about 1.88g) to 4nyang(about 150.4g), however 1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Ijungtang is the most useful base prescriptions which use the Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma as the main ingredient. Conclusions : As a result of Study on Analysis all Prescriptions of Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma in DonguiBogam. We can understand more about basic prescriptions, symptoms of prescriptions and the pathology that are using for Zingiberis siccatum Rhizoma.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to review the effect of Guaruhaebaekbaekju-tang (GHBJ), Guaruhaebaekbanha-tang (GHBH) and Jisilhaebaekgyeji-tang (JHGJ) by summarizing Korean and English articles. Methods : The study was based on 23 papers published since 1995. Papers were searched on seven domestic electronic databases including Koreantk, NDSL, RISS, KISS, OASIS, Koreamed and Library of Korea University and three international electronic databases including PUBMED, Embase and Science Direct. Results : 1. 23 research papers were collected, including 13 in vitro studies, 6 in vivo studies, 2 case reports and 2 literature studies. 2. GHBJ, GHBH and JHGJ showed significant myocardial protective and anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, researches on anti-oxidant, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis have been conducted in various ways. 3. It can be confirmed that these studies are related to Chest and back pain (胸背痛), Insomnia by chest paralysis (胸痺不得臥), Stabbing pain that radiates from chest to back (心痛徹背), Chest numbness (心中痞), Obstruction of qi in the chest (留氣結在胸), Fullness sensation in chest (胸滿) among the terms. Conclusion : Through these results, close association was found between classic description and modern research about GHBJ, GHBH and JHGJ, and the possibility of providing objective evidence was confirmed. To improve the quality of the study, large scale studies will be required to evaluate the authority of GHBJ, GHBH and JHGJ.

Objectives : This report describes 241 prescriptions related to the use of Gardenia Fructus blended prescriptions from Dongeuibogam. Methods : The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Gardeniae Fructus. Results : The Gardeniae Fructus is used in 49 fields of treatment such as urinary diseases, jaundice and furuncle, etc. Prescriptions that utilize Gardeniae Fructus are used in the treatment of fever, eye disease, hemorrhage, skin disease, ear disease, internal disease and so on. In the view of the causative agent of a disease, the prescriptions which are compounded with Gardeniae Fructus are related to endogenous agents such as jaundice, seven emotion, alcohol, exogenous agents such as cold, wind, heat and non-endo-exopathogenic factors like disease due to external factor, injury. The dosage of Gardeniae Fructus is 1pun(about 0.375) to 5don 5pun(about 21g), however 5pun(about 1.87g)~1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Conclusions : Hwangryunhaedok-tang is the most base prescriptions which use the Gardenia Fructus. Gardeniae Fructus is mainly used as a raw material.

This report describes 94 prescriptions related to the use of Radix Angelicae Dahuricae main bl ended from Donguibogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Radix Angelicae Dahuricae as a key component. 11.7% of wind. 10.6% of carbuncle and deep-rooted carbuncle. recorded the largest number of clinical frequency of the prescriptions in therapeutic use when Radix Angelicae Dahuricae was ta ken as a monarch drug in prescriptions, Prescriptions that utilize Radix Angelicae Dahuricae as t he main component are used in the treatment of apoplexy and carbuncle and deep-rooted carbuncle. headache. wound and they are also used for treating 26 different types of diseases. The prescriptions are compounded with Radix Angelicae Dahuricae as a monarch drug can ap ply to apoplexy, exogenous febrile disease, invasion by wind. wind-cold pathogen, wind-heat path ogen. epidemic disease, pestilence. bruise, bites, deficiency of liver and kidney, deficiency, phlegm-fire, phlegm-heat. The dosage of Radix Angelicae Dahuricae is 0.37g to 7.5g, however 3.75g has be en taken the most for clinical application. The function of Radix Angelicae Dahuricae is to expelling Wind and relieving pain, to expelling wound and forming muscle. to astrict and neutralizing poison. to expelling wind and to getting through body hole. to emit and relieving pain from the combination of drugs and prescriptions.

Objectives : Consumptive is an unhealthy condition that are caused by lack of blood and essence, and that means also some stages of chronic diseases. The purpose of this study is to analysis 108 Prescriptions of Consumptive part in Dongui Bogam. Methods : The 108 Prescriptions of Consumptive part in Dongui Bogam analysed frequency of basic prescriptions, symptoms of prescriptions and the pathology. Results : Ssangbohwan, Yiuihwan, Gamrihwan were used for tonifying were mostly used as basic prescriptions in whole Consumptive part respectively. There are common symptoms in consumptive part in Dongui Bogam. That symptoms are "tidal fever, night sweating, nocturnal emission, cough, sputum, skinny body, weak pulse, spontaneous sweating, deafness, dim vision and tuberculosis". Qi blood(yin yang) pathologies in prescriptions on consumptive part are "yin deficiency, yin deficiency with effulgent fire, yang qi deficiency, dual damage of qi and blood, non-interaction between fire and water, collapse of yang and exhaustion of yin, less blood". viscera and bowels pathologies in prescriptions on consumptive part are "heart and kidney deficiency, spleen-stomach weakness, spleen and kidney great deficiency, weakness of kidney qi, meridian waste in heart, spleen and kidney, damage in heart and lung". Conclusions : As a result of Study on Analysis all Prescriptions of Consumptive part in Dongui Bogam, We can understand more about basic prescriptions, symptoms of prescriptions and the pathology that are using for curing consumptive. We expected that this study will can help to give rationale for future study of consumptive caring.

This report describes 47 studies related to the use of Fructus Schisandra main blended prescriptions from Donguibogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Fructus Schisandra as a key ingredient. 1.34% of a cough, 10.6% of a consumptive disease, recorded the largest number of clinical frequency of the prescriptions in therapeutic use when Fructus Schisandra was taken as a monarch drug in prescriptions 2. Prescriptions that utilize Fructus Schisandra as the main ingredient are used in the treatmeant of a cough, a consumptive disease, an exogenous febrile disease, a carbuncle, and cellulitis, and they are also used for treating 11 different types of diseases. 3. The prescriptions are compounded with Fructus Schisandra as a monarch drug can apply to a deficiency syndrome of the lung a deficiency syndrome of both the lung and the stomach, a deficiency syndrome both the spleen and the lung a deficiency syn-drome of the kidney, a hypofunction of the bladder with cold syndrome, a cold of insufficiency type, a deficiency syndrome of the heart, a heat syndrome of the stomach, an affective by cold, an invasion by wind, a consumptive disease. 4. The dosage of Fructus Schisandra is 5pun(about 1.88g) to 5jeon(about 18.75g), however 1jeon(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. 5. When Fructus Schisandra is combined with base prescriptions such as Ijintang Chungliongsan, Saengmaksan, it applies symtoms of cough. In addition, when Fructus Schisandra is combined with base prescriptions such as Liukmizihwangtang, Ssangbohwan, Sipjeondaebotang, it utilizes a consumtive disease.
